Click to report rating    1/22/13   5     5     5     5   Best care that I have ever received from a veterinary clinic. I live in the western suburbs and drive 40 minutes to get to Dr. Smullen because she has proved herself to me on many occasions. She and her staff are very professional and truly love cats! One of my cats was diagnosed with an illness that said I should probably put my cat down. I left there went to Capricorn clinic where I was informed that there was hope. It has been four years and he is still with me. She also performed an emergency surgery on my daughters cat and saved his life. I recommend her to my friend's on a regular basis. I'll never go anywhere else for sure. RID: 39841

Click to report rating    6/26/12   5     5     4     5   Dr Smullen and her staff have been caring for my cat George for several years. I brought him to her after he suffered a terrible leg wound. She was not only able to save his leg but, she and her staff cared for him during a long convalescence. She did such a wonderful job.I highly recommend this clinic. It is truly the ultimate place for cats and...cat lovers alike!!!! RID: 35237

8/4/11   1     1     1     1   Dr Smullen was my cat's worst nightmare. She diagnosed my cat with diabetes and then said that treatment could wait. She had some Vet conference she had to go to. She yelled at me when I complained that her assistant had not told Dr Smullen information about serious symptoms. My cat died horribly in her clinic. Dr Smullen should have told me to take the cat to a Vet who was not going out of town. I had rescued the cat from a cat shelter and nurtured the cat for many years. She was surprised that the cat died of an very serious abdominal infection that she had failed to diagnose and untreated out of control diabetes. Poor judgement and bad communication on Dr Smullen's part and on her assistant's part. I should not have trusted Dr Smullen. Her clinic had dozens of cats running around free. Unsanitary conditions in my opinion. RID: 26734

Click to report rating    8/1/08   5     5     5     5   Dr. Smullen is THE BEST cat vet. She literally saved our cat's life. We brought him to a regular vet & they suggested hydrating him w/a needle every day. We brought him to Dr. Smullen for another opinion. She couldn't believe we were told that; put him on steroid pills and while his levels are still high, they have maintained - no worse off. We could not be happier w/the care she gives to our cats. She is wonderful, caring and a skilled vet. I have recommended her to others and will continue to do so. Again, we feel she saved our cats life. Can't say enough good things about her and her staff. All wonderful, skilled people. RID: 9524

Click to report rating    6/4/07   5     5     5     5   "Doc" Smullen and her capable staff are remarkable in every way; from Docs amazing gift for diagnosing and treatment of obscure illnesses, to Betty the "cat whisperer", who can calm the most distressed animal, to Adrienne's endless patience with this "helicopter" mother's intermidable questions and phone calls, to Carol, the super-friendly night shift..and all the wonderful, loving, caring people who volunteer. Oh, did I forget to mention? Doc runs a shelter for unloved, unwanted cats, many of whom are infirm, or suffering from chronic and/or fatal diseases. (this includes but is not limited to one hapless fellow who was thrown from a speeding car to the front lawn of the clinic, and one sweetheart who was so abused and starved that she only responds to Doc and staff). THESE ARE RESIDENT CATS; a huge share of the profits from Doc's vet practice go to their care and feeding. A true treasure is so hard to find-but if you are a cat lover, YOU ARE IN LUCK! RID: 4352

Click to report rating    5/25/07   5     5     5     5   WOW!, I can't believe those comments from a dissatisfied customer. We've been dealing with Dr. Smullen for close to 20 years with 4 cats. She was the only vet (and we tried a few very well known clinics) that diagnosed cancer in one of our cats. Her persistence and thoroughness in diagnosing illnesses and diseases go way beyond the average vet. We first met her when she worked at another clinic and will stay with her until she decides not to practice any longer. If you want the best treatment for your cat Dr. Smullen’s ethics and skills indisputable in my book. RID: 4130

Click to report rating    5/24/07   5     5     5     5   Dr. Smullen is in the business of veterinary care, not for the money, not for the glory, but because she really cares about her patients. My family and I are certain that not only Dr. Smullen's skill, but her compassion and loving care brought our cat back to us after his second stroke. The veterinary clinic in Chicago said there was nothing they could do to help him, but Dr. Smullen was there for us. Both Dr. Smullen and her staff are exceptional and will always have a fond place in our hearts. I now live out of state and still keep in touch with her. She makes herself available for consultation by phone and by email. I have had cats for over 45 years and have never known a vet as dedicated and as highly skilled as Dr. Smullen. She is absolutely the best! RID: 4100

Click to report rating    5/24/07   5     5     5     5   I have had the pleasure of taking my cats to Dr. Smullen for about 5 years now, and have always felt welcome, and have complete confidence in the capabilities that Dr. Smullen and her staff have.Every cat that I have taken to Dr Smullen have recieved wonderful care. She takes the effort to make sure you understand everything that is being done to help your cat, and is caring enough to put an arm around you when you lose your beloved friend. I have sent complete strangers to her knowing what loving care cats recieve. RID: 4096

Click to report rating    5/18/07   1     1     1     1   I decided on this facility after reading positive reviews. My cat had suddenly become extremely ill. A family member stopped in to pay & get the diagnosis, I was told to call the clinic to find out all the details. I was shocked at Smullen's unprofessional comments about my family member (who just paid her $300+ and this amount was $100+ over the quoted price.) I was outraged to hear her say that my family member was rude, mean, & that she, "did not want my cat and to pick her up ASAP." When I arrived, Smullen was fine; however when I returned home, I told my family member about the accusations & he tried to call her back to get the story straight. She FIRST, hung up on him & SECOND, kept him on hold so long it disconnected. I figured miscommunication and decided to drop the situation until in conversation w/ a coworker, found that she too had a very similar experience w/ Smullen. When your pet is ill, you want the best. One can draw their own conclusion, but her unprofessional comm RID: 3996

Click to report rating    5/12/07   5     5     5     5   Enough cannot be said about Dr Smullen! She truly is the best in the area. She really knows her stuff, and has caught things in our cats that 3 other vets did not. RID: 3855

Click to report rating    12/18/06   5     5     5     5   Probably the best feline practice in the midwest. After taking my feline friend to about a dozen veterinarians without any of them knowing what was going on with my cat, Dr. Sheila Smullen took one look at my cat and had him diagnosed. He has been healthy and happy for the past seven years! The staff is extremly friendly, caring, helpful and experienced. They do board and groom cats only for their clients though as they do get really booked weeks ahead. RID: 1328
