We are shocked and saddened by Don's passing. Don was a great friend, a great vet, and a great person. He was the best among us. He will be missed by all who knew him, human, quadraped, avian, and all the rest. Every animal knew they had a trusted friend in Don. He died doing what he loved but we will always miss him. Don, we love you.

I called to get an appointment for my Quaker and heard that Dr. Zantop had passed away. I started to cry. Not only was he a doctor of the highest caliber but a kind, caring , and compassionate man. My little bird has had her share of illness and Dr Zantop and his staff have always cared for her like their own. It was an honor and privilege to have know him.

Yesterday after returning from a magnificent cruise, I learned of the untimely passing of Don Zantop on Thursday, 10/13/11. Such an incredibly kind person who shared and utilized his vast knowledge to teach other veterinarians to give only the BEST care to pets and their caregivers, his death is a tremendous loss not only to his family, friends, colleagues and clients but to the world. A true Master and Genius in his field, my flock and furry children have lost a wonderful, one of a kind doctor and friend. My heart is broken and I can't stop crying. Rest in peace Don. You have earned and so deserve the highest throne in heaven. God Bless!

Dr. Zantop has been a great vet and in known across the country for his knowledge and excellent care of birds. Unfortunately, Dr. Zantop has passed away.

Dr. Zantop was the best of the best. I was referred to him 13 years ago when I got my cockatiel. I wouldn't let anyone else touch my bird. He was due his annual exam next week now what am I going to do without Dr. Zantop.

The best Vet you could ask for, hands down!!! My umbrella cockatoo, Sadie, broke her leg and Dr. Zantop performed surgery (inserting a rod through the bone to achieve stabilization) and she is healing wonderfully!! I couldn't be more pleased!! Not only is he very highly qualified and experienced, but he really cares for large parrots and works very well with them. Beyond this, his price was almost 40% less then other, less qualified Vets. Simply put, he does what he does because he loves animals, not just for the money.His staff his friendly and attentive, and they go beyond expectations every visit! I have spent years working with and studying large parrots... and Dr. Zantop and his practice is simply the best!

Dr. Zantop is a 'bird whisperer' and I just love watching him care for my birds as well as my rats and dog. He cares for them like they are his own. The staff is truly professional and having a half hour with a vet focused on you alone is worth it's weight in gold.

Dr. Zantop has been the Vet I've taken my B&G Macaw to since the day she came home with me 6 years ago. I can't even begin to explain the degree to which I appreciate his expertise and professionalism. All of the Vets at Fallston Veterinary Hospital are absolutely top notch people. The staff is as well. They're always friendly, compassionate and accommodating. There are certainly Veterinarians that are closer to my home, but I'd drive any distance to get Dr Zantop and the other people there to care for my animals. I really love these people.

I traveled far to have Dr. Zantop perform surgery on my bird. He is an excellent avian vet and skilled surgeon.

He is not cheap - but he really is the best, especially when it comes to birds. I take my African Grey and Senegal parrots to see him every year and you can really tell he knows what he is doing and enjoys birds very much. My Senegal had a staph infection in her feet - not sure if another "regular" vet could have saved her. The office and staff are great as well. My Senegal is a little terror around strangers but always acts like Zantop is her friend when she sees him. Animals know I tell ya! I am going there in 1 month with my birds and actually looking forward to it!

I too have heard that Dr. Zantop is one of the best board certified avian vets on the east coast and quite frankly, I'd be willing to stretch the area further. Not only are his knowledge and skills impecable but you can see by his interactions with his avian patients that he really loves what he does. I travel about 2 hours to see him and I'd travel longer if I had to. I've never been rushed through a visit no matter how many questions I may have or how complex the problem may be. I have seen Dr. Zantop work with the smallest of finches to the largest of parrots all with great skill and compassion. The staff is very well trained and also handle their charges as if they where their own pets. Even the receptionists are impressive. The offices are always clean, organized, and well stocked. Obviously Dr. Zantop has earned my highest recommendations!

He's said to be one of the best on the east coast and we heartily agree!!! He's the King of Veterinary Medicine. Great with the large parrots and the smallest of finches.

Dr. Zantop and the staff at Fallston Vet are top notch. I couldn't imagine taking my dog to any other place again. The staff treat the animals great and my dog is never nervous when we go there... I've never had a dog excited to see the vet before Maybelline met Dr. Zantop...

i took my parakeet there when she was very very ill and everyone at the clinic treated her like she was their own pet! sometimes things run a little behind schedule, but only because of emergency appointments. everything is clean and bright and new, and they have an office cockatoo in a huge aviary. everything is explained, and they offer you choices before blindly performing procedures. if i lived closer, i would take all of my animals there - as it is, though, i only take my birds (dr. zantop is a certified avian vet).
i cannot recommend this practice highly enough.
