7/28/13   3     4     4     3   My cat had work done on his mouth a few days ago. In a previous examination, the veteranarian told me that he hoped they would not have to do any extractions, but would know when they actually began work. I phoned to talk to the veteranarian after they had been working on my cat for about 2 hours. The vet told me they had to do 2 extractions. A couple of hours later, when I hadn't heard from the vet, I called, and was told he would call me when finished. When he did call, he told me they had done 6 extractions. Previously, I had been told at the clinic that if anything was going differently than we had discussed, the vet would phone me to discuss. I was shocked at the 6 extractions. I definitely think I should have been phoned before they were done, and had the matter discussed with me. I don't think I would have agreed to it. There were various reasons the teeth were pulled out, and I am not convinced none of them could have been saved. Not going to this clinic again RID: 45923

3/30/12   1     4     4     1   My dog became WORSE after taking the first dose. Doctor tells me to stop this medication and come back for different medications. They still charged me for revisit because my dog needs OTHER MEDS INSTEAD OF THE FIRST ONE that made his health conditions worse. I DO NOT recommend this clinic to others. Also the cost of medication is much higher than they should be. RID: 33259

10/28/11   5     5     5     5   My 6 month old bunnies got spayed here by Dr. Armstrong. One bun got quite sick after the surgery, but the doctor took very good care of her by giving her pain meds, ID fluids, x-ray, sweater (to prevent the bun from licking the incision site) and excellent follow up care. She is now slowly recovering. The doctor answers your questions, and she is willing to talk to you on the phone even outside of her office hours. Prices are reasonable, the lowest in the neighbourhood. Only got charged for the spay plus the special diet formula for the sick bun. I would definitely go back to see this vet, and recommend her to all rabbit parents I know with confidence! RID: 28670

7/5/11   5     5     5     5   This is the best vet clinic there is. I will never take my pets to anyone else. The staff is amazing. When we found out my cat had a genetic disease that was life threatening and I had no way of getting him in to be seen, the receptionist tried everything to help me get there. When it came time to decide about whether to try and prolong his life or just let him go, the vet was amazing and made sure I knew that I was not a horrible person for not spending a fortune to prolong everything. They let me sit and hold him as long as it took for him to pass. He required more drugs than expected in order to do the procedure and I hadn't even thought about the added cost but when I received the bill, they not only hadn't charged for an examination but they didn't charge a cent for the extra medication. They allowed us return days later to pay the bill off since we were struggling with money on the day of. All in all they made the experience as bearable as they possibly could. I love this place. Click to report rating    5/23/11   5     5     2     5   INTRO ---> Our cat limping for 3 days. Not sure if need x-rays. Seem like a muscle pull or banged shoulder somehow. --PUNCTUAL ---> Arrived staff busy, start to get some attention and then another customer got some attention and back and forth we went. --STAFF--> Vet Dr. Kathryn Mitchell-Poirier knowledgable. Explained her thinking of why she thought whether hit by a car or dog fight or cat fight. Gave options, not strong on saying prices. Does not try to sell you on big expensenses, rather practical methods. --MONETARY--> Felt for the attention and explainations by vet and instructions by assistant on care was worth the money. Felt assured on my cat's status. One shot of antibodics and pills for pain relief. No need for x-rays or blood work. --CONCLUSION--> Yes take your pet here. Even watch how vet dealt with other customers. Caring and factual and sensitive. RID: 25169

Click to report rating    2/17/11   4     5     3     4   We've been going to this clinic for well over 12 years. Over the years our cats have seen almost all the doctors. It's an excellent establishment. Right now, we see Dr. Arad. He's a great vet. Very thoughtful and loving towards our cats. RID: 22943

Click to report rating    2/10/11   5     5     5     5   Dr.Cindy Duff is amazing..you can truly tell she loves animals. I brought my female cat and the whole time she kept patting her and kissing her making her feel comfortable. I wasn't sure if my cat would eat the pill form, so let my cat eat some wet food there with the pill. She took lots of time with her and did not even rush..which is nice when your spending a lot money per visit. She also cut my cats nails...She does the little things that most vets don't do..I highly recommend her. RID: 22766

Click to report rating    2/10/11   5     5     4     5   I love the vets who work here, DR.Duff is amazing. They are honest and have saved me so much money, I feel like they actually care and don't look at me like a bank machine. I have had great advice with my newly diagnosed diabetic cat. Some of their procedures cost more but they tell you so you can compare with another vet. They also tell you what you can do at home to keep vet costs down. I love them! RID: 22763

Click to report rating    12/29/10   5     4     4     4   I have only dealt with Dr Smith before but was VERY impressed with his love of animals and compassion towards them. I was also impressed that he offered a lower rate (we hadn't asked it was OFFERED) for dewclaws, first shots and tail cropping... who offers a lower price in THIS business? Dr Smith did! He was very good with our dogs, really cared about their health and welfare and when I called him recently to ask a question my new (closer) vet could not answer he remembered me from 8 years ago... wow!If the practice is still being run in the same way I would recommend these guys and only wish they were closer to where I live now! Click to report rating    12/7/10   1     4     1     4   I had been going to this vet for a few years and was very happy with the service. This past year the staff have been extremly difficult. I made an appointment for my large dog and took the day off to find out my appointment was never entered in the system. My option was to sit around all day and wait for an opening which the staff said was highly unlikely. I will never go back there because of the staffs lack of professionlism but the doctors are good. Click to report rating    10/15/10   5     5     5     5   I've taken my pets to a few different vets over the years but I have to say that the folks at Fraser Heights are by far the best. All of the vets and staff at this clinic are amazingly attentive, supportive and seem to love their jobs. Dr. Mitchell is our regular vet but we have seen everyone who works at Fraser Heights at some point in time and they have all treated my cats and dogs with the most expert care. They have been truly kind to me and my family as well. As we have been clients for a number of years now, the staff have seen me and my fur family through a host conditions and life stages and have always been frank, honest and compassionate. Their prices are pretty much standard and I have never felt pressured into any unnecessary tests or treatments. I am happy to recommend this clinic to anyone. RID: 20325

9/20/10   1     3     3     1   I've used this vet twice & both times were terrible experiences! The doctor was insensitive to our cost concerns & guilted us for not giving the ok for expensive testing. She actually said we should consider giving our dog away if we weren't willing to care for him!!! While waiting for the doc we could hear dogs getting their nails cut crying/screaming in the back room & the staff imitating the sounds & laughing! This place is terrible...never going back. Click to report rating    2/15/10   5     5     5     5   I have been going to this vet for years with my cats, and always see Dr. Mitchell. She is very knowledgeable about all kinds of problems, and very straight forward about what's wrong, and what she thinks you should do. She never suggests things that aren't necessary. I can tell she really cares about every pet she sees, and she really takes her time with each appointment. I also find that the staff that works there is very caring and friendly. They all help make the hard times when your pet is sick a little bit easier. RID: 16609

Click to report rating    1/6/10   5     5     4     5   I have dogs and cats and have received excellent care for my animals at Fraser Heights, especially from Dr. Arad. He has cared for my dogs for the past couple of years and has been wonderful in dealing with several issues, including a serious heart condition in one of my dogs. I've been to two other veterinary clinics, and Fraser Heights costs are less than what I've paid elsewhere. Highly recommend. RID: 16041

Click to report rating    9/24/08   5     5     5     5   I have been going to Dr. Smith for 28 years. I was originally attending his first clinic Allondale, then they moved to Fraser Heights and I had my charts sent over. The staff are terrific, the prices are great, and Dr. Smith has waived repeat consults and rechecks only charging for medication. If the prices seem high to some, they are not, and it is a full service hospital with up to the minute state of the art equipment - you don't have to go somewhere else for diagnosis. I would recommend this clinic to anyone. I have tried others closer when I moved to a different city, but always go back. If anything happens that I want to talk about they listen and rectify small issues. I can be very frank in speaking about my animals, and I appreciate the doctor's frankness too. They have very well trained staff, including a very experienced ultrasound technician, formerly working in human medicine. Compassionate care at end of life is very appropriate, and this helps greatly.Outstanding. RID: 10081

9/16/08   1     1     1     1   I had taken my cat in to check her ear and was told that she needed surgery for a hematoma. I had just adopted her a couple of months previously from a rescue but didn't know she had a bad case of ear mites. I had just moved into the area and this clinic was close to me. The surgery cost me close to $2000.00. The staff was rude and not caring with her. I had to take her back in as she was getting sicker. Saw the owner this time, and he was even worse. No compassion for my cat. She was screeching as he poked into her ear like a crazy man! Geez, she had just had surgery! I asked him to be gentle and he was so rude with me. He was handling my cat like nothing I have experienced. I wound up having to pay more money and by the time all this ended my bill had totalled $3500.00. Ouch! I would never recommend this place! Because they messed her up more, to this day she suffers with her ear. When Leaving with my cat, the people in the waiting room said they were scared to see him!! RID: 10004

Click to report rating    9/1/08   5     5     5     5   My family has been going to Dr. Smith for as long as I can remember. We have taken all our pets from when we were kids and now that I have my own furbaby we only take him to see Dr. Smith. There are no words to describe just how amazing he and his staff are! While the prices may be high my pets deserve the best care and that's what they get. Many times the consulations have been waived and we have only been charged for the meds. They ALWAYS take the time to explian thing in plain english and answer any questions we may have. They don't just grab your $$$ and rush you out the door. When my parents had to take one of their dogs to be put down after it was apparent that the treatment was not working, Dr. Smith and his staff were extreamly passionate and did not charge them anything. This is one man who is a vet because of his deep love of all animals and not just for the $$$. RID: 9833

Click to report rating    8/16/08   2     4     1     1   We have been loyal to this vet since using them when our cat was dying and they were the only ones who would look at her at the late time of the day. She ultimately died but they did try. We have taken our dog now three times for a skin condition due to allergies and each time are charged for tests (same symptoms exactly) and visits. I have asked for refills and was met with the irrational answer that they could only refill if it was 'say two weeks after the checkup' (the medication is for 3 weeks!). Prices are exorbitant and it takes around two hours from start to finish for a simple exam, of which the actual exam is about 10 minutes, the rest is waiting. I found Dr. Kesselman very arrogant, and Dr. Arad was so-so. I am in a service industry myself and was quite apalled by the time I was done the last visit. Not recommended. RID: 9684

Click to report rating    7/14/08   5     5     5     5   Dr. Smith is Great! I do find it a little more expensive than other hospitals, however you get what you pay for! Although I have had waived check-up fees when I've had to come in multiple times. I have a bulldog and the breed is prone to problems. Dr Smith is wonderful with her and is so knowedgeable I don't have to worry when she's in his hands. He was so concerned for her once, he gave us his home #. Plus all the girls in the front staff are wonderful, and they are always willing to help as best they can! RID: 9303

Click to report rating    4/8/07   5     5     5     5   This hospital is excellent in every way. All staff are knowledgable, and they all care about every animal that walks through the door, and it really shows. They never rush you, and always do everything they can to help. I've been going there for 13-14 years now, and they have always given the best treatment possible. Always above my expectations. I highly recommend every veterinarian that works in this office, because every one of them gives excellent care and compassion in their work! RID: 3356

Click to report rating    4/6/07   5     5     5     5   I highly recommend Dr.Gary Smith! He is also interviewed lots by the press on many issues and can recently be seen in the newspaper regarding an outbreak on Parvo. We have been with him for about 15 years. Never had a problem, and has brought serveral animals back from the brink of no return! Because of him they are all still around. A++++ RID: 3316

Click to report rating    1/30/07   5     5     5     5   Dr Gary Smith has cared for animals over 30 years. We have used his services for over 12 years and find him to be extremely compassionate. We never feel rushed. Some might find his rates a bit higher than other clinics, but I don't think it's much higher. I have used a number of vets over 40 years and give him a perfect 10. He is in the Guildford area of Surrey. It takes us half hour to get there, and there are veterinarians who are closer to our home, but we feel our animals get the best care at his hospital. He veted our oldest cat, he said it was the oldest cat he had ever cared for. She was born in 1976 and died from squamous cell carcinoma Dec 12. 2006 - she was 30 yrs old. He helped me learn how to give her palliative care in the months following the diagnosis and did everything possible to help her, but the cancer was vicious. We'll always be grateful to Dr Gary Smith. I also adopted a cat from his rescue. Thank you Dr Smith! The Ecksteins. RID: 2285
