Click to report rating    2/3/13   5     5     4     5   We had our local vet refer our 6 yr old cat to the UGA Small Animal teaching Hospital. She was quickly diagnosed with feline asthma. We were so impressed with the knowledge of the staff and their communication with us every step of the way. We were assigned a team of 4 - a student, a dvm intern, a clinic techician and a full teaching faculty dvm. Every test, procedure, medication and cost was thoroughly explained to us. We highly recommend UGA small animal teaching hospital and feel blessed that we live so close to one of the few vet schools in the southeast. RID: 40133

Click to report rating    3/15/11   5     5     5     5   My Cocker Spaniel had glaucoma and everyone was wonderful during her treatment. The teaching vet was a very compassionate and caring man who made me feel better during a sad time and they took really good care of my dog. Highly recommend! RID: 23581

Click to report rating    3/10/11   5     4     5     4   We are fortunate to have in this area a facility like this one. The knowledge, attention, and compassion of the staff, both students and faculty are exceptional. They discussed all options with me up front and kept in constant contact with me by phone. I would go back if the need arose. RID: 23472

9/19/09   5     5     5     5   Being from Athens I have been fortunate to have the vet school treat numerous pets through the years. They are thorough, professional, skilled and have always treated my pets as if they were their own. They go through every aspect of possibilities and give you the best recourse but always try to work within your monetary means to provide the best of care for the animal. I have have several surgical procedures over the past 5 years on my soon to be 13 yr old Shepard mix Roxy and have always been treated exceptionally well. She is given the very best in care and as I have said is treated as if she is one of theirs, which is most important to me. I cannot say enough good things about the doctors and students who dedicate themselves to animals at UGA vet school. Lisa Hood RID: 14314

Click to report rating    9/9/09   5     5     5     5   We've taken our Min-Pen to the UGA clinic several tmes, typically when all other avenues failed to produce acceptable results. The most recent involved spinal surgery as he had lost all use of his legs. Miraculously, he has regained full use of his legs. I was more than impressed with the staff and the way the facility is run. Very professional across the board. The UGA veterinary team is second to none. We in central Georgia are blessed to have them in our area. - Tony Radford RID: 14174

Click to report rating    9/9/09   5     5     4     5   If your pet has a problem that seems hopeless or is hard to diagnosis then you should take your pet to the UGA Veterinarian College. They have saved my dogs life 3 times. Because the UGA Veterinary clinic is a teaching hospital they are often able to offer advanced solutions that other people have not even heard of. They have provided my 14 year old Golden Retriever with a lifetime of outstanding care. Everyone there has been genuinely caring in addition to impressively competent. My wonderful primary care vet has referred us to UGA Veterinarian College for advanced care and diagnostics in orthopedics, neurology, soft tissue and oncology. I wish such high quality care and surgery was available to all pets. They are the Navy Seals of Vet Care and my Dog, Captain Nemo, thanks them. Laura Nicole Griggs RID: 14173

Click to report rating    9/9/09   5     5     5     5   Couldn't have been more comfortable with the care, knowledge and value from UGA. In particular Dr. Glassman, of the Small Animal Hospital. All the staff was excellent but Dr. Glassman followed up with several calls to my home to see how my bulldog was doing after surgery. All the doctors I saw there took there time, were compassionate and made me feel very secure in my decision of using them for my dog's surgery. Joan Scully 9/09 RID: 14167

6/20/08   3     4     2     1   after a scheduling flub and many tests, my tortoise was spayed at uga. everything went smoothly, and she responded beautifully to the anesthesia -- putting reptiles under always involves more risk than other animals. however: one of the vets later called me to "confess" that they had overdosed one of her medications (an anti-inflammatory drug). it was a "decimal error" and she wound up getting ten times what she should have. overdoses of this drug can cause irreversible kidney damage. i really can't begin to describe how angry i am over this... without even going into the financial aspects of all of this, i've taken her to the people who are supposed to be the experts, only to have my pet overdosed because somebody didn't double-check their math, or was too busy flirting with a coworker, or thinking about their friend's baby shower, or mentally making their grocery list, or something. accidents happen, but when a life is at stake, is it too much to expect people to focus? Click to report rating    5/24/07   5     5     5     4   After being misdiagnosed 3 times I went to UGA and within 5 minutes of examining him a STUDENT was able to figure out what was wrong. It may be expensive but it was well worth my money. They treated my dog almost as well as I do, which says a lot since he's spoiled rotten. My dog had a very complicated condition and all the vets and students involved were professional and had excellent bedside manner. RID: 4088

Click to report rating    3/20/07   3     5     1     1   Taking my ill dog to the University of Georgia Small Animal Hospital was a horrible experience. I fully understand that this is a teaching hospital, but would at least expect the students to have general knowledge, they don't. My final bill came to approx. $550.00, $300.00 of which was unneccessary testing due to the inexperience of the staff. It was also an ALL day ordeal, 9AM-6PM. Please think twice before taking your pet to the UGA Clinic, I really wish I had. RID: 3100
