Click to report rating    2/12/14   5     4     5     4   I love the staff here - they are funny, friendly and full of information regarding whatever I ask about. I don't know how prices compare to other vets' but feel they don't overcharge. I have been allowed to bring my kitties in at short notice and been seen quite quickly. Have had problems with callbacks re treatment, though. My cats behave very well for all 3 of the vets. RID: 49798

The staff is very friendly and are very knowledgeable. I will be returning to this vet office again for sure. RID: 45628

Click to report rating    12/13/12   1     1     1     1   I can agree with the comment of the individual who posted below. This is not a how a hospital should practice. Doctors are not knowledgeable and do 5 minute examinations. dr. Drabant is rushes out immediately after the 5 minute exam and unable to answer questions. Inexperienced. I have taken my pets to other clinics in the past and have never been to such a bad clinic as this. RID: 39056

7/22/12   5     4     4     5   I took my guinea pig here on a Sunday for an emergency appointment. The clinic is not near my house, but all of the animal clinics I called said there is not much that they could do for him. We were there for approximately an hour, which I thought was a short wait, seeing as we had no appointment. Our guinea pig was given an anti-biotic needle as well as 2 prescription medications and a bag of special food. Our total bill was under $200 which I felt was a fair amount. Dr. Drabrant was very nice and answered all of our questions and concerns. Will definitely be back. RID: 35985

Click to report rating    5/22/12   5     5     5     5   I used this vet for my cat, Motown, for about 3 years. My cat had kidney problems, which Dr. Elizabeth treated and managed with immense compassion and expertise. During times of difficulty and stress, she was always available to talk about our options both in person and over the phone. I would like to give particular thanks to Kim who was always friendly, supportive, patient and kind. Our cat was not always easy to deal with, but she always handled him with humour and care. Sadly, we had to put our cat down last week. The sympathy and support that they showed us and our cat both during and after this very difficult time means a great deal to us. We are so thankful for their support. RID: 34403

5/15/12   5     4     4     5   I have so much gratitude to all the caring and compassionate staff at Riverdale animal hospital. They were so very kind and generous to us and our lovely cat Sienna who had cancer in her front leg. They advised and listened to us each step of the way as we opted for surgical removal of the tumour, when the cancer quickly returned they helped us to adjust to amputation of the leg. Both surgeries were undertaken with great skill and Sienna was well cared for. The staff accommodated our twice daily visits to see her with friendliness and information. Sienna just had her stitches out and is adapting very well, we all hope that she is now cancer free and can enjoy her new lease on life. I highly recommend this vet clinic and especially Dr Chris Drabrant, he so obviously loves his work and is willing to take on challenges with care and enthusiasm. He helped us to stay positive and open to change when no guarantees could be given. RID: 34262

Click to report rating    3/27/12   5     5     5     5   We have taken our cats to Riverdale Animal Hospital for the past several years and they have been nothing but professional. They take pride in their work and are very gentle with our cats. The vets will recommend the best treatment for our cats but have never been pushy leaving the decision to us. I would highly recommend this clinic. RID: 33184

Click to report rating    2/23/12   1     1     2     1   I took my puppy to this hospital and the doctor was very unfriendly and did not seem to care about my concerns. This hospital is all about making money and after hospitalizing my puppy, I was told that he was well to be taken home. I spent over $3500 and the puppy was still sick, so I took him to the emergency. The emergency told me that I have been cheated for my money and they did not provide adequate care to my pet. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE RID: 32434

7/14/11   4     5     5     4   I am so happy with my recent visit. The staff was so friendly and helpful. And the place was very clean. The doctor took time with my puppy and answered all my questions. I was very surprised to see the other reviews. Happy I got to make my own judgement. I will be a returning customer. =) RID: 26219

6/28/11   1     1     2     1   Not impressed with this particular clinic. The staff did not appear to know what their duties were. In the future, I would take my kittens to another animal hospital. RID: 25872

Click to report rating    3/2/11   2     2     1     1   Took my healthy cat their for the first time for shots and a chip. Not only did we have to wait 50 minutes to be seen, the Dr was very brisk with me and my cat. She suggested that he have blood work done as well, citing all the possible diseases he's prone to being an outdoor cat. I reminded her that he's 14, and his hunting and fighting days are far far past. She made me feel like an irresponsible cat owner, so I conceded with the tests. She also later sold me on meds for ring worm, even after i asked if it would be better to test for ring worm before stuffing him with unnecessary drugs. Was expecting to spend $300, and left spending over $600. Afterwards I called to another local vet and they don't do blood testing unless the pet shows signs of illness. Ditto with the ringworm. It's not the money, I'm willing to do what it takes to ensure my pet is healthy. But I am very upset with how they treated me and my cat, and all the unnecessary tests and stress my cat endured. Click to report rating    2/15/11   1     3     3     3   I took my cat, for a rabies shot only, since I have lost 2 pets to tumours which grew immediately after yearly vaccinations. The vet was very rude, because I wanted only the one vaccination required by law. Treated me like I was stupid. I have found another vet, who doesn't question my concerns about vaccinations & just does what I ask. RID: 22898

Click to report rating    12/30/10   5     5     5     5   We have never had problems with this vet. I was quite surprised at the other comments - they only have three vets and while all foreign born - speak very good english. One person complained that they pushed bortadella vaccinations. We didn't take their advice and six months later they got sick. RID: 21682

Click to report rating    4/17/10   1     2     1     1   Took my newly SPCA adopted dog there when he had gastro problems - over $800 in meds and fees and the problem persisted after treatment. They insisted I have his teeth done which I did later at another vet... Came back this year for annual shots and it was over $370!!! They pushed everything and even tried to get the teeth done again even though I said he had full cleaning done at another vet less than 6 months earlier. Insisted on shots like bordetella even though I said it wasn't necessary. Dog had rabies shot in 2009 and they insisted he needed it again in 2010 - NOT TRUE! Any other vet would say rabies is good for at least 2 years. Ridiculous - carried my corgi awkwardly, his back was not supported and he was struggling while being carried. Not sensitive to animal's pain during agressive ear cleaning JUST BAD SERVICE!!! I even had to ASK the vet to sign the rabies certificate after it was printed - he said "he didn't need to sign it"....?!?! RID: 17561

Click to report rating    7/29/09   1     1     1     1   I was really sorry I took my cat to this vet. We had a long-term relationship with another vet but moved so went to this one due to convenience. The vet & assistants didn't have a very good bedside manner and my 15 year old pet ended up being quite upset and traumatized. The cost ended up being over $3,000 and no-one ever called to see how we were doing. RID: 13654

Click to report rating    9/4/08   1     1     1     1   Be cautious about this vet. The Riverdale Animal Hospital may appear cheaper than the rest but they lie and give you several unnecessary treatments as a preventative method. Also the Riverdale Animal Hospital is dirty. All I wanted was the two needles so I can have my cat neutered and I ended up getting a sales pitch for every treatment possible. This would cost a fortune without any guarantees. I feel they are money hungry and truly don't care about our pets. I wouldn't trust the Riverdale animal clinic with a stuffed animal. I would never had taken my cat there. I will recommend Laird Eglinton Pet Hospital/speak to Dr Paquet. Dr Paquet is an Excellent veterinarian. RID: 9897

Click to report rating    1/6/08   1     2     2     1   We took our male cat there to be fixed and get treatment for worms for all three cats. While examining our boy the vet didn't seem to know how to handle him and didn't seem to care much about his comfort. He was gruff and had no "bedside manner". We have since her horror stories about the place from a nearby pet store. I won't repeat them as I don't have first hand knowledge, but it made my decision easier to find a new vet. RID: 6868
