I can't say enough about IVAH and DR Spence. We have been taking our pet family to see Dr Spence pretty much since she opened, we have 1 dog and have brought 4 cats to see her and every visit has been wonderful. The staff is fabulous, knowledgeable and helpful and Dr Spence is amazing. She is caring, never rushes us (I ask tons of questions) and also never pushes any products or procedures that. She gives us plenty of info and helps us make informed choices. She is the first vet who has never tried to "upsell" our food choices or made us feel "bad" about considering our financial resources when considering options for our pets' care. We love going there and truly feel she is the best vet we have ever met. Thank you to everyone at IVAH!!! |

I chose this vet for my dog because I've read the ratings here. Everything was ok until I told the secretary I was not sure about neutering him. Fisrt, she started to tell me about prostratic cancer, but I know that neutering or not, doesn't have any relation with this kind of cancer in dogs. When she realized I was not impressed, she started to complain about my dog's behaviour and both, the secretary and the vet, started making fun of me and my dog. I felt very uncomfortable. It was a terrible experience, very different of all the appreciation they always had while I was paying the bills without questioning. |

I went to the emergecy clinic with my sick dog. When we say the doctor, she look over him, then left to bring me a price list and a $1400 bill. I felt I was buying a car. She told me she wanted to do a number of blood tests and ultrasounds to determine not what the problem is. And that he had to stay overnight. When I said, no to this, and just wanted the medications and that if he got worse I would take him to my vet in the morning. She said that he might go down hill quickly, and she pressured me to keep him over night. I went to pay the bill. It came to $611. Wow, I thought that was a lot, but it was an emergency clinic. They proceeded to charge to my VISA. When I was still there I looked at the bill i discovered a $325 fee on it for an ultrasound that he didn't have. I told the receptionist about this, and she said it was for the X-ray, I said he didn't have a X-ray. She went back and asked an assistant or vet, who credited my creditcard, wile the receptionist wanted to shred the b |

I recently brought my older cat in for a dental cleaning. The staff at Islington Village Animal Hospital were incredible at caring for my cat, and supporting me (I was very worried). I have no doubt that they provided the best care for my cat! Dr. Spence tailored a special anesthetic routine just for him (he has other medical conditions). He recovered very well and I am happy to have my cat back with a clean and pain free mouth! Thank you Dr. Spence and staff! This clinic is awesome!!! I couldn't ask for better care for my pet! |

Just started going to this vet with our new puppy. Excellent service. fair pricing. No upselling. Arrive a little early, parking lot is large but often full. I have had pets for 25 years and this is the best place thus far. |

This was our first visit to Dr Spence. We found the whole experience exceptional. Dr Spence and the staff were caring and experienced. My cat Jade was so comfortable thru her first exam. I took great comfort in that. I highly recommend Dr Spence and her staff this vet is exactly what I have been looking for. Thank-you to Dr Spence and staff we now have a new vet. |

After reading reviews, I've decided to give it a try and I was not deceive from all the good staff people working there. The caring,the interest they had towards my dog sick health. Everybody was kind, knowledgeable, punctual and caring.I am now having Dr.Spence has our new Vet and thanks to her good care & time she took for my little dog who was very loud expressing his stress. I did not feel rushed out, or pressured to do specific things, she took time listening to me and gave me good advices. Nathalie C. |

I strongly concur with all other ratings on Dr. Spence and her team. They are VERY caring and go beyond the call of duty to ensure you and your pet are looked after. We had a dog who had some "special needs" and Dr. Spence and her staff helped us a great deal in taking care of him by providing the right solutions and for fees that were very reasonable right until his last day. For the veterinary care we required and compared to vets we had tried in the past, this clinic is what anyone (who really loves their family pet) would expect and much more! |

After reading the great reviews of this Clinic on the Internet, I did not hesitate to make an appt for my two year old Burmese. I was there yesterday and was immediately impressed by the cleanliness of facilities and friendliness of staff. Dr. Erin Spence is "A"mazing. She is extremely knowledgeable and keeps up to date on animal care by attending conferences, etc. Being my first visit, she did not rush me and I ask a lot of questions :o); Dr Spence is very patient and has true compassion for you and your pet. Her costs are very reasonable, way less than those vets in my area. It certainly is worth it to drive the extra distance to this clinic. Dr. Spence's top priorities are oral health and nutrition; she addressed my cat's needs in these areas with one amazing diet which my finicky cat LOVES! They go the xtra mile here. I don't have enough space to write all that I want but just to say don't think twice about going to this clinic. Two thumbs up!!! One happy customer - Barry |

We really enjoyed our first experience with this clinic after a few bad experiences at other clinics that seem to tell you more of what tests you should do, than what you shouldn't. Dr. Fournier (there on Thurs. currently) deserves credit here as her manner was excellent, and she gave us many options without pressure. We left with our two little dogs feeling like it wasn't a traumatic experience for them, even though they had bloodwork done. So far, I'd really recommend this vet clinic. |

Dr. Spence is quiet - lowkey - which is so great for my dog and me as there isn't a lot of hype and no pushyness. She lets you ask questions and make your own decisions. She knows her stuff and seems to be plugged into the vet world beyond her clinic. Staff is interested and motivated. They are pet people. The place is spotless. It has a family kind of place feel. You wouldn't mind your kids crawling on the floor. Best of all is her dog which she brings to the clinic. It's a true pet not a showpiece of neurotic perfection. He's big, he's good-natured and full of friendly energy. My dog who is about one third of his size loves him. There's a white cat, too, which sometimes lies stretched out on the front desk counter. Yeah, I like this vet. It's not a chore to take my dog here. My son drives in all the way from Waterloo to bring his dog here. She's our idea of what a vet should be - trained in veterinarian care - not a high yield salesperson on commission. |

I would highly recommend this clinic. Dr Spence has been wonderful, treating my 2 cats with patience and care. My one cat objects to any vet or even smell of vet but Dr Spence handled him with great understanding. My other cat was diagnosed with hyperestagia something most vets don't even seem to know. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the clinic was clean and well equipped. The prices were extremely reasonable. If your looking for a bet this is definately the one to go to. |

I needed to find a new vet after having a horrible experience with my dog at a previous clinic. I was so happy to find Islington Village animal hospital because Dr.Spence and her staff are so amazing.I was nervous about trusting a vet again after what happened at my previous cinic but I was so impressed with Dr.Spence and the way she treated my dog.I was so happy that she did not pressure me into getting any unnecessary tests or shots done. This clinic is great and I would definately recommend it to anybody with a pet. |

After recently moving to Toronto, my Dog became lame in the hind end. Trying to find a vet who cares more for the animals than the bottom line can always be difficult. Dr. Erin Spence is one of those few vets whom you can completely trust! She took amazing care of my dog. She gave me many options, and she followed up with e-mails. She even went so far as to talk to an Orthopedic surgeon on my behalf to get an idea of the actual cost for surgery. She e-mailed me a copy of the x-rays that she took!! Seriously, do you know of any other clinic that will do this for you? I would recommend this clinic to anyone in the GTA. Easily accessible, and well worth the trip. I would whole heartedly recommend this clinic to everyone! |

Erin Spence is a great vet! I was thrilled with the service I received at Islington Village Animal Hospital for my cat's recent eye surgery.
I have to say, I have seen many vets in this city and I was really starting to wonder if they all just jacked you for every test and procedure possible. I feel so fortunate to have found this vet because I think first and foremost she cares about the animals. I haven't been working steadily in the past few years so finances are tight. It was such a relief to find an honest vet that offers great care and affordable prices. You will not regret taking your animal to Dr Spence. |

Dr. Spence, Andrea and staff are amazing. They are so patient with me because I have so many questions about my dog and they always give me the best advice. Dr.Spence is soooo honest and is NOT a sales person. She truly cares about animals. She is super talented and educated. She is very reasonably priced.I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone with a pet. |

Dr. Erin is absolutly wonderful! I brought in my adorable newfie puppy Panda for a check up because he had diarrhea and she was excellent! She listened, gave me a number of options, answered all my questions thoroughly and followed up personally the next day to see how he was feeling! For antibiotics, a check up and testing his stool she only charged me 130$! She is just wonderful, I highly recommend! The rest of the staff are courteous and friendly, it is a clean, welcoming environment! |

I've known Dr. Erin Spence for years as she's treated my pets in the past, and I was so pleased to hear that she was opening Islington Village A.H. You will not meet a more kind, professional, and compassionate vet. There is not one area of veterinary medicine where she is not strong: surgery, diagnostics, communications; she is just great at everything. If you're looking for a vet who will take time with you and your pet, and staff that will make you feel welcome and special, than IVAH is the place for you! |

The vet is very compassionate and knowledgeable, the clinic is clean and sunny, the staff friendly, the prices altogether reasonable. My cat was treated with kindness and gentleness, and I felt heard, taken seriously and never rushed. I really can't overstate what an overwhelmingly positive experience we had during our visit. |

Brought in our 2 1/2 year old gerbil who had pneumonia. The vet here treated her fantastically, was kind and helped our gerb improve. Service was great. Highly recommend for small animals like our pocket pet. |
