Click to report rating    7/26/14   1     2     1     1   Referred to K-State by my local vet for MRI and possible surgical treatment of a disk injury in a dog. Drove from another state, arrived before 5:00pm and was told they "closed early" and there would be an additional $117 "emergency fee." My dog was evaluated (they watched him hobble around in pain), no MRI was done, he was sent home with a pain med and told to rest. Dog was in agony (even with a narcotic pain med). I called K-State for two days before someone called me back to tell me they were mailing a prescription. It's been three days since the phone call, and the prescription they said they would mail still hasn't arrived. Dog was euthanized this morning after a morphine shot (administered by a local vet) provided pain relief for only 2 hours. I would never take another animal to K-State. Communication is extremely poor, clinic is run by kids. There is nothing good I can say about this vet. experience. RID: 52745

Click to report rating    1/19/13   5     5     5     5   They saved my 7lb dog with very delicate and demanding cancer surgery. Cost was less than at a standard vet and the staff was caring. They let me visit my dog in ICU and let us use a private room to be with her. They saved her life. I would recommend them to anyone who wanted top notch care. RID: 39766

Click to report rating    8/3/12   1     4     2     1   All they care about is collecting the money. If you can't pay they will not treat your dog. This is a teaching hospital and shouldn't charge the outlandish prices. We paid 1,000.00 and they let our rescue dog die because we couldn't pay the outreagous vet bill to save our dog. To me this is just as much animal cruelty as beating them. Call Riley Co Humane Society so we can call a meeting to do something about this. There's a lot more owners out there. AND I TELL THE TRUTH RID: 36263

Click to report rating    5/16/12   2     3     1     1   My friend is blind. Her guide dog got sick, she spent her savings at her normal vet, she was referred to KSU vet med. I offered to help by paying and letting her pay me back. The doctors were ok, but I feel they guilted her into tests that were not needed as they said they would make no difference in the dogs treatment, or odds of recovery and yet implied that if she didn't allow them then her dog must not be that important. In the end the doctors got an extra $1500 out of her for what amounted to extra teaching opportunities. My real problem was with the office staff, little gems like that they can add to your bill at anytime after it is paid. I can't get them to give me anything saying the bill has been paid off and they added extra stuff twice now. The last was a catheter after surgery, which the doctor said didn't happen. I disputed it and the billing lady removed it then added one before the surgery and told me I couldn't dispute it because that doctor wasn't available. RID: 34274

Click to report rating    11/18/11   1     2     1     3   Your pet is a teaching case and will be taken from you to a classroom for about an hour of examination. You will be prohibited from the examination. Your pet is referred to as 'the animal'. They don't care at all about your pet's well being, but they care greatly about using your pet as a teaching case. Avoid this clinic. The sicker your pet, the less likely the chance they will survive the examination. Very, very arrogant doctors. Be prepared to spend most of the day. The vets are professors first, vets second. They claim to be experts because they have written books, but they clearly did not know as much as my local vet. May be good for dogs and cats, but avoid taking your exotic to them. They don't seem to have any real world experience with rodents (Chinchillas), but they are happy to use them as a teaching tool. Do not go to this clinic with your exotic. You will be greatly disappointed with the experience. RID: 29225
