Click to report rating    1/7/13   5     5     5     4   I have been going to Eastern for over 13 years. I have always been treated with friendliness and a small. There were times that my visits were an emergency and when I arrived my pet and I were taken right back and within minutes a vet was with us. I would suggest Eastern to anyone who asked. RID: 39451

4/23/12   2     4     1     1   Outrageously expensive. I have been going to Eastern for almost 3 years, and each time its gotten more and more pricey. This last visit will be my last. I took my cat in for a broken nail that looked infected. The vet looked at the toe, then gave him a shot of antibiotics and pain med. The $60 checkup fee, the $65 dollars for the antibiotic and $25 for the pain med was a lot, but that didn't shock me. What did put me over the edge was the $60 fee for the needles used for injections..... That's right, $30 dollars per needle!! The receptionist explained that it 'covers the cost for needles and disposal'. Give me a break, we all know that needles cost 5 cents. They are just ripping off honest pet owners. Such a scam, I will never go back. RID: 33708

Click to report rating    11/11/11   1     1     1     1   They will do least important test first to get your money. When they know a blood test and Urine for obvious symptoms of kidney failure would be the correct test. NOT AN XRAY! Thier prices are way to high. I took my dog to another vet and they could not understand why Eastern Animal wanted an xray before blood or urine. My dog was in renal failure and Eastern Animal hospital took me for $300 for an xray and medicine that could compromise his kidneys more. Which im sure it did. My dog died from renal failure a week after I took him to Eastern. This place is all about money and not the welfare of your pet. There are other Hospitals that are reasonable and will do everything they can to help your pet. Academy Animal Hospital Belair rd. reasonable prices and truely loves all animals. RID: 29047

Click to report rating    6/1/11   3     3     3     1   Vets were well aware of care credit limit ($5,000) to take care of our sick puppy. She needed to be hospitalized for IV fluids as she was gravely ill. The first estimated bill amount was initially $2,600 at the most for three days in the hospital. Before we left her there, they wanted to run our care credit card to the maximum amount ($5,000) and then give us a credit when our pup is released. We said no, run the card for half the estimated bill. The vets were stumped as to what our little baby had and ran unauthorized tests to the tune of the maximum amount on the care credit card, $5,000+!! They still don't know what she has and our baby has suspiciously made a miraculous recovery as soon as we ran out of money. RID: 25336

Click to report rating    11/25/10   1     5     1     3   Staff was rude to me and took other patients before me who had come in after me. I finally just left almost in tears with my kitty. RID: 21057

Click to report rating    5/7/09   1     4     1     1   My tiny chihuahua injested something poison. I rushed to my vet of 4 yrs I always paid my visits in full at end of visits. Before she was looked at or treated, i was given a bill of estimated costs for 900.00 to 1,100.00 dollars. I could not produce it on demand and had to leave to tap into my resourses. My pet was gravely ill and needed hospitalization.I was told I could not leave the office until I paid in full the 250.00 for the office visit. Needless to say I was making phone calls in the lobby trying to get a credit card, bank loan to get her hospitalized.About 30 minutes later I was given and paid a bill for 250. I was told to take her home. At home she got worst. I called them and said i have the cash in the morning so could they please admit my tiny baby for fluids. They said NO. It is sad when the professionalism is compromised by the money. In other words they would rather let my pet die then trust me for the money that I have always been able to pay. I pray my baby makes it. RID: 12725
