Click to report rating    7/15/08   2     3     3     3   We had no problems until our dog was neutered. First, they forgot to chip him. Then they called us for early pickup because he was aggressive. This was apparently in his record, but no one had told us previously. Next, when he was unusually swollen we took him in for antibiotics and were told to call back the next day. I called back the next day and was dismissed by the tech and told I should not have been told to call so soon after being given antibiotics. Before we could take him to a new vet, his **** literally ruptured. We returned and he was given a cursory look, more antibiotics (though we were told the stink was not infection) and asked to return in three days. I went that day to a different vet, who did a culture, found a large infection AND necrotic skin. We were given pain meds and cleaning meds and he will likely need more surgery to fix this complication. Complications happen, but poor service is not the solution. We have a new vet. RID: 9328

Click to report rating    6/8/08   5     5     5     4   Establish a relationship with a vet and the care is superb - this is true anywhere. Deer Creek has first rate vets but there are a lot of them - find one you like and try to work soley with that person. Having spent a good deal of time "behind the scenes" while my dogs recuperated, I can vouch for a caring staff, most of whom go above and beyond normal care when helping an ailing animal. Deer Creek can be pricey - but you get one of the best orthopedic surgeons and ultrasound specialists in Dr. Brod, one of the best diagnosticians and eye doctors in Dr. Cox, as well as opportunities to explore alternative medicine options with accupuncture, Eastern approach medicine and Dr. Thornton grief counseling if a pet has reached the end of its life. Deer Creek is one of few facilities to offer a therapeudic swim pool for physical therapy and rehab. A full service facility that can be daunting if you don't have a relationship with a vet. Click to report rating    7/2/07   4     4     5     1   Very expensive along with the run around. You get a different doctor all the time...my dog has had problems for two years now and 'the experts' ask me what I want to do instead of telling me what is best for my dog! RID: 5035
