I took my Lovebird to Dr. Echolls and he was really kind and caring. I spent a lot of time researching to find a good Doctor. My bird was really sick and when he finally was ready to go, Dr. Echolls was really kind about it. He listened to me about how I felt and when I was crying he offered help. I appreciate this Veterinarian Practice.

I love these guys and I wouldn't take my exotic animals anywhere else. You should know that I drive 30 miles so that I can see a vet experienced with turtles (Dr. Lusk). The staff is always friendly and helpful, but then again I've been a client for more than 10 years. They may be a bit pricey, but if you have a bird, reptile or some other unusual (or even wild) animal, they are the best bet for quality care.

No question, they are pricey. I just adopted a Goffin's Cockatoo that had the same set of tests ran and the same type of checkup as it had one month earlier at South Austin Pet and Bird Clinc. The owner passed away about 6 months ago and the son and daughter-in-law couldn't handle her consistant screaming. She also plucked all of her feathers from her chest area off. The bill at Westgate? $423.00. The bill at South Austin? $97.00. What she needed was companionship so I adopted her and she is happy and fully feathered again. Dr. Echolls is great so I can't contest that. He has seen my 10 foot Red Tail Boa and I would't take him to anyone else but Dr. Echolls. Some animals require an expertise that not all vets have. I understand that and he is definately reptile qualified! There staff was extremely friendly but hey - how often does someone bring in a 10 foot snake. They were enjoying it and hopefully learning at the same time.

As an owner of multiple birds who occasionally takes in rescues I know the value of a good avian certified vet is priceless. Dr Echolls has taken care of my quaker, grey and amazon since I have had them and has always been corteous, polite, professional and interested in my animal. Follow ups on all of their conditions and happiness have been made and test results are always given promptly. If you want a vet that knows their stuff when it comes to birds, then you can do no wrong with Westgate Pet and Bird. The front of practise staff and vet techs are polite, concerned and friendly and always happy to answer questions. To the person who complained about expense, well you had a sick dog and that will be expensive anywhere

It is obvious that the two folks that rated these people have money. But, the one comment I don't agree with is that it's pricey, but you get what you paid for? I didn't! These folks have obviously never been to a CARING facility. Such PRICEY SNOBS! When the vet I saw there found out I couldn't spend $300-400 for some annual visit blood test for my dog they were no longer interested in my pet or discussing anything with me. AND....if it's an emergency and you don't have a lot of money or good credit YOU MIGHT AS WELL JUST BLOW IT OFF!!!! It is so sad that there are vets like this in the world that only care about money and not your pets!!! The techs and front desk folks are somewhat rude and snobby. When I was stressed out because I had a sick dog and in a bad financial state, one of the nurses made a comment to me about me not liking to pay my bills! The people that made good comments are probably friends of the staff. One staff member actually laughed at my distress!

These guys are GREAT! They take the time to explain things and to offer you EVERY option available. They are a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for! The front staff is fun and friendly and the techs are very helpful. Each dr has a specialty, so ask when you call as to which one best suits your need.

I bring my dog in bi-weekly for nail trims, and they are always wonderful. They treat your pet like it is one of their own. They have also taken great care of her when she has had health problems. I also brought my rat to them and they took just as much time and care with her as they do my dog.
