We used to take our dogs to Murphy Rd, but stopped because their rates were high. I called around to a number of local vets and confirmed the suspicion, really shocked to learn that an identical antibiotic at one vet was $15, while at MR it was $25. Routine exams and tests were also significantly higher.
Recently, however, when one of our pets developed a serious condition, we returned to MR. Unlike the other vet we were seeing, they were able to get us in at the very last minute on a Sat morning (probably a result of them having a larger staff than some of the other clinics.) And I've found - with Dr Hagen, anyway, who is compassionate, smart and creative - that it feels worth the extra money in order to have my dog see a vet that does goes the extra mile to problem solve and who genuinely seems concerned about my dog's health.
I have my prescriptions filled elsewhere, however, which helps to keep costs down, and get interceptor & frontline online - cutting the price in 1/2!

Dr. Bell treated my cat, Shadow, after another vet clinic gave him a medication which caused renal failure. It seemed like Dr. Bell was always thinking what next could be done to be helpful to Shadow. As I researched what to do to try to lesssen the demise of Shadow's Metacam Induced CRF, I would find Dr. Bell was always ahead of me in planning the next attack on Shadow's complication. They had the equipment for many test which were necessarily to diagnose and treat CRF related problems like metablolic acidosis. When Shadow's CRF compromised his quality of life, he and I were treated with exceptional dignity in death and helping to secure my wishes in caring for Shadow's body. Office staff, techs esp. MO, were very caring and attentive to Shadow. My only regret about Murphy Rd. Animal Hospital is my inability to pack this vet. practice in a box and move it with me when I moved..best quality vet care I've experienced with a chronically critically ill petkid. Thanks is not enough said.

I have 5 dogs and 2 cats and have been with Murphy Road for years. They have lovingly cared for several very sick pets and medically treated them appropriately. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants top notch care for their pets. I feel that you get what you pay for.

I absolutely love this facility. They truly are the best I have ever seen. Open on Saturdays from 8-12. SO AWESOME! The staff was super attentive, even though they were really busy. They made each pet feel special because they really seem to love animals. Some places I have been seem so interested in the process, and not at all in the animals. When your animal is sick, you want everyone to treat him/her like you would. I highly recommend this clinic.

They will try to add on as many charges as possible I guess in hopes you will not question the cost. I asked for a price on a dog neuter and was given a price of $400+. They had included a hip exam/x-ray to indicate POSSIBLE future problems(don't remember other "reasons" for cost). NO EXPLANATION until I asked for a line by line explanation. Really don't appreciate this, felt like I was at a seedy used car dealership. Some of the staff are VERY nice and caring. Others are not; talked about being annoyed by waiting for clients at closing time or had a general vibe like "I'm busy, what do you need?" Went a couple x right after I got the dog, neutered elsewhere, will not go back. They like to send constant computer generated "reminders" as well, you call to find out which "test" or follow-up your pet needs there's just confusion from their end. Unless it's for a bath I guess/who needs that kind of junk mail? Cat's are great, not running loose @ vet.

This is the newest facility in town so it is spacious and state of the art. There are a variety of vets there so you get the benefit of the young vets just fresh out of school with all the latest knowledge that brings with it, and you have the (dare I say) older vets who have years of experience diagnosing. Just a great combo! The prices are fair. I never feel taken advantage of. My input is always respected, even when a vet may not agree. There is sometimes a wait but that just shows the vets take time with you. I get all my questions answered. I have had vets come in on a Sunday to treat my pet and to wait for me after hours. You just can't get any better than these folks. One of my dogs has had his teeth cleaned at 3 different clinic and this was the only one where I could see a difference. They sparkled! So does this clinic and everyone who works there!

I used to think these vets just didn't know what they were doing and that's why they ordered so many tests. Now I think it's to make money though I am not too confident in their medical ability. I have not doubt that they make a huge profit (especially with the scam Love at First Site where you adopt a pet but have to use Murphy Rd as your vet). They are exceptional business owners I bet but from now on I will seek out a vet who practices for the love of animals (though nothing wrong with making a profit if it doesn't gouge people or prevent them from getting the care they need.) I also want someone with more medical skill.

My experience was that they are not as willing to work with me, since I have multiple animals. I have to be thrifty and need a vet with will work with me on the care of my animals. I want the best care for all of them.

The staff is all great, friendly and personable. The vets are hit and miss. They are incredibly overpriced. Double the cost of any vet in town. No vet is worth this price difference. Check your bill carefully you will be nitpicked to death with add on charges. Do your pet and yourself a favor and find a fairly priced vet hospital so that you can make affordable health choices for your little loved ones.
