Click to report rating    11/5/14 when i first met dr. krauter i was not as impressed with him as my sister was who had two dog and used him for many years. when my sister had to euthanize one of her dogs dr. krauter opened his office for her at night to accommodate his need. subsequently i have been using dr. krauter for my cat and dogs. he can be a little grumpy sometimes but none the less he has administered excellent care my babies. Click to report rating    6/4/12 I have been going to Dr. Krauter since 1990 and I won't go anywhere else. Yes, sometimes he's crabby but he has to deal with sick animals and a few ignorant pet owners all day long. He does not sugarcoat things and has always been straight with me about my cat's treatment. His prices are more than fair; he could definitely charge more. The office is clean although dated but who cares? My cats don't. They get excellent treatment and I trust him completely. He is great with all the animals I have observed being brought in and is very tender with all of them. Once he picked up one of my cats and gave him a great big kiss! He won my heart right there. Seriously, if you cared to talk to Dr. Krauter you might find that he has chronic back pain from all he has done in his long career and so sometimes his shortness might be that he is in pain. He also has a very dry sarcastic sense of humor which I enjoy. The bottom line is that I think he is exceptional. RID: 34727
4/25/12 Doc is great. Staff very rude, disrespectful. Due to staff going to find a new vet. RID: 33757

Click to report rating    1/27/11 Met Dr.Krauter about 2wks. ago. My dog had been to numerous vets over the last year because of a chronic intestinal and skin problems. Dr. K discussed various problems and did some Lab workups...came back as thyroid disease. "Maggie" is a new dog but will be on meds forever. Two visits and I had an answer! At first Dr. K seemed a bit "short"(then again I got lost and was 15 mins. late)but truly seemed to bond with my dog. The prices seemed reasonable as I have spent a small fortune this last year at other clinics with poor results. The staff;although a bit chatty was very caring and helpful. My friend that referred me as been going to Hack. An. Hosp. for almost 20 years. 'Maggie" is feeling better...I'm happy! I wish I would have found this place and Dr. K sooner. No frills, no nonsense, good medicine! Other than limited parking(recent snow)a solid thumbs up. Maggie's Mom RID: 22419
Click to report rating    12/31/10 Unless cost is no issue for you, this is the best vet in northern jersey. Dr. Krautner cares about the pets, is way underpriced, as he would rather make sure that animals get medical treatment rather than steal from his clients. As far as the medicine there, I am not an expert, but from what I see, Dr. Krautner is a very good vet. As to the prior reviewer who focused on how nice the office is, I do not view the vet as a spa. It is clean, sanitary but admittedly dated. But, I am not there for a nice chair. I am always hesitant to recommend any professional b/c it is always inevitable that different people have different experiences, but without any hesitation, I wholeheartedly and highly recommend Dr. Krautner. He also makes his home number available so that you can call him in an emeregency, and he will come in without charging an arm and a leg. He also does not always charge for follow-up visits, when he is just following up a prior exam. RID: 21697
Click to report rating    8/24/10 The office setting is old, antiquated and very small. Dr. Krauser also has a nasty personality and is set in his ways and unwilling to listen to the needs of the owner and their pet when it comes to providing the latest vaccines and answering any questions that you have. Each visit is $54 and way overpriced for the 70's shoebox office decor, nasty attitude and outdated veterinary care. RID: 19379
