After treating my pet three times for a serious chronic condition (and charging a total of over 4,000 dollars) they refused to renew a life-saving prescription, one that must be taken daily and continuously, unless I brought him to their clinic immediately. I am recently widowed and don't drive and I asked for only one refill so that I would have time to arrange to bring him in (and my request was within the time span in which they could still have written the prescription by law, although there were only a few days left), but they still refused. I found another vet, and am very satisfied with both the attitude and the cost of the new one. There are long waits at VCA, in a waiting room that mixes cats and dogs and there is tense atmosphere there at times. There is a huge emphasis on money and on payments there, although the care my pet received was adequate in that he survived, there seems to be more emphasis on profit than on the welfare of the animals.

The staff at Castle Shannon were very compasionate when we had to put our beloved Peanut to sleep. Thank you. Though this clinic is not the cheapest one around, they do have up to date equipment which may be worth the price tag.
