My pets received veterinary care here for over 20 years, but I can no longer recommend them after a recent emergency visit. The overnight staff was apathetic and dismissive, and the care received was subpar. I was there for 4.5 hours, left without a diagnosis & a nearly $1,000 bill. No discharge instructions were provided until the following afternoon. OAH had a great reputation for years, but I'm sorry to say it is no longer deserved. There are other emergency vets in the area that can provide comparable medical attention but with a lot more compassion, and at a lower cost. Definitely do not recommend OAH for routine medical care, as their prices for vaccines and well visits are almost double other vets in the area.

The hospital grossly overbilled us by performing unauthorized services. We brought our dog in at about 9pm on Sunday, August 4, 2019, after he was struck by a car. We saw the nightshift doctor, they took an x-ray, we got a preliminary readout and was given an estimate for 3-5 days of hospital care that would cost between roughly $6,700 and $10,900. That was too much so we agreed with the doctor that they would just keep the dog alive till morning, when a radiologist would read the x-ray and discuss a treatment plan or whether to put the dog down. We had to sign the estimate and put a $4,000 deposit down. However, we agreed with the doctor that they would only do the minimum necessary for the night. At roughly 1pm on Monday, August 5 (about 16 hours later, and before hearing from a doctor), we got an invoice for actual services of almost $4,900. We never authorized Oradell to incur such high fees and were never told that half a day could cost most of the 3-5 day estimate.

I have used Oradell animal hospital for the past 21 years for my K9 pets and birds. I had the pleasure of meeting several different doctors depending on what was required for the pet I was bringing in. Each and every doctor and vet tech that I have met have been professional have taken time in evaluating my pet and have provided detailed information and options to me. They try their best to be punctual but sometimes appointments may run over depending on the severity of the appointment prior to you. They can be pricey but then again you get what you pay for.I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. This includes their Fort Lee and Hasbrouck Heights locations also.

Outstanding! I had been avoiding Oradell Animal Hospital for years based on all the bad reviews I have come across. But several veterinarian doctors and vet techs that I respect encouraged me to go for my cats PU surgery. Wow!!! What an amazing experience. It is definitely a HUGE clinic, but everyone I spoke to on the phone and in person gave their personal touch to make it feel like a very personalized experience. During the course of our stay, I met with three doctors and they all were wonderful, patient with questions, didn't rush us, and heard our concerns. Even the vet techs and front desk staff were caring, kind and every single one of them addressed my cat by his name and spoke with him. I also thought the cost of his surgery was reasonable. I will not hesitate to return in the event of another emergency.

If you file a complaint with Oradell don't bother, they have their own internal administrator on her own agenda. Nancy Miles, who obviously is there to shoot down every single question you have because guess what she WORKS FOR THE HOSPITAL. SHE'S NOT ON YOUR SIDE! She's there to make you think you are wrong and they are right. Honestly you would think that customer service would be important to them but based on my experience with Nancy Miles that is quite the opposite. I wasn't even allowed to finish speaking before she would interject with this is why were wrong and the doctor was right. The most self righteous person I have ever spoke to and apparently she's the big boss of that place. No wonder this place has such terrible reviews. The only people giving them good reviews are the ones taking their animals there for easy stuff their interns can handle, antibiotics check, dental cleaning check, anything requiring thinking forget it.

The female vet who saw us was polite and helpful, but of all people, the janitor took it upon herself to MAKE FUN of my mother because my mother needed to wet a napkin in the bathroom for our dog and the janitor was cleaning it at the same time and didn't understand. She didn't know I was standing right behind her when she began to ridicule my mother- who was in the bathroom at this point- to the reception staff, who are generally very rude and reciprocated until they saw me staring at her disgusting display of deprecation. Instead of an apology, I received blank, awkward stares
I will NEVER be coming back to this hospital, because while the vet herself was kind, she did nothing special I wouldn't receive- with far less waiting time- at a cleaner animal hospital, and the administration at Oradell should honestly clean up their reception area and janitorial staff if they want to avoid losing longtime clients.

After 26 years with Oradell, we are finding that the medical staff and pharmacy are becoming blase about their patients. Spents 2-1/2 days and 5 calls trying to get the prescription for our kitten's special meds When the prescription was finally faxed over to the pharmacy is was still the incorrect amount and dosage. No one in the pharmacy bothered to check with our vet or the vet wasn't concerned. This is a big, big disappointment. It's not the first time we've had a problem in the past year, but it will be the laar. We are looking for a new vet.

PLease..Never..Never...Never take your pet here.. I cannot stress this enough! they are all about the money .. the staff is rude and as soon as you tell them you do not want your pet to stay they cop an attitude, they never explained the full illness my dog had .. they DO NOT CARE about your pet..I took him home where he is more comfortable and took him to another place who explained everything .. he is doing better..and I feel he would not be had I let them keep him

My vet said my dog had cancer of the pancreas, which caused very low blood sugar, and referred me to Oradell which agreed to his findings even though her her ultrasound did not show anything. We were assured that cancer was the only thing that could cause her condition and the best hope for her was surgery. My dog had the surgery. She walked into the hospital without help. After the surgery she could never walk by herself again. Her blood sugar was back in a normal range but my dog got weaker and weaker. In three weeks we watched her go from a happy dog to one that had difficulty breathing and barely move and then stop eating and drinking. I believe my dog would be still here and happy if she never had the surgery. They were very eager to take my $5800. The doctor was difficult to talk to get answers. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I tell them STAY AWAY.

My dog was terminal, but before I took her home they gave her an injection that made her bleed. I said to stop everything, they tell me to consider euthanasia, then turn around and stick my dog with a needle? The bleeding made her feel worse than she already was. In competence, lack of skill, also kind of stupid to give a dog an injection after telling me to consider euthanasia. I won't go here again for any emergencies.

Never take your pet to this animal hospital! You are better off treating it at home by yourself! My german shepherd dog had gum surgery here. The doctor said the surgery went well. Then my dog developed a tumor in her mouth, which the doctor saw while doing the mouth surgery and never told us! When we took her back to Oradell, The same doctor acted like as if nothing happened! One night my dog got so sick after her cancer diagnosis, we took her to Oradell as an emergency visit. At first the staff and doctors were all nice. But they were charging us 5000 dollars to just keep her there overnight and would not even tell us what was wrong. When we decided to take her home, the staff go rude and obnoxious with us. We decided to take her home and my baby girl german shepherd had a seizure the next morning. We rushed her to NYC Animal Hospital and she fought all day to survive, but past away that late night. Such a horrible place, doctors, and staff. All they want is your money.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE! TOTAL RIP-OFF! My dog was here for only 16 hours....cost....$3,000! And that was just for tests, no surgery. They claim to LOVE animals, but its really tha almighty dollar. This place should be shut down immediately!

wanted to charge me $8300 for surgery and just when I was about to say I cannot afford and would have to put my dog down, they "realized" he didnt need surgery and the price dropped to $4500. @$1000/per day, they couldn't even get a radiologist to check my dogs scans the same day. Doctor kept telling us she couldn't give a proper estimate off the top of her head but yet she had a calculator handy in pocket at all times. Unfortunately, he was put down prior to midnight because thats when the new billing day starts(we only got there at 5pm).

Money making operation that has no compassion or soul. I will never forgive or forget the day i was asked for my credit card up front for a minimum $2000 charge for my beloved dog's operation the moment i walked into the office as a distressed and heartbroken owner of a dog with cancer. They are not human and only see green.

I have been bringing my pets to Oradell Animal Hospital for many years. The care we have received has been exceptional. The hospital is a beautiful, immaculate state of the art facility with an incredible staff.Dr. Carberry who is a brilliant doctor and surgeon has been our veterinarian. She is as talented as she is deeply compassionate and caring. My dog Jasmine has had many diagnostic challenges.Dr. Carberry has created miracles with Jasmine. Her commitment to her patients and their families is truly amazing. She has the most magnificent staff (Dawne, Joli and Stephanie)that support us with anything we need. They go above and beyond for us.All the administrative, reception and medical staff at Oradell have been terrific. There are fantastic specialists to consult with for every medical issue. Recently,Jasmine had to have emergency liver surgery. Dr. Carberry saved her life and continues to.Jasmine received outstanding treatment during her hospitalization. I am truly grateful For Oradell

Oradel is a very expensive vet hospital, but the quality of the doctors is excellent. The non-veterianry staff, however, showed themselves to be so lacking in compassion when my dog died that I will not ever go back there, and I urge others to stay away as well. We were not allowed to see our dog until a few seconds before she was euthanized. This took place in a large treatment area, not in a private room. We waited for Faithful Companions to pick up our dog's body (they were excellent), and not one person offered condolences. As we left, crying, they just looked away. When I called to complain about them, I was told that it was hard for the staff to see someone acting so hysterically. Yes, I was hysterical, as my dog had just died, but I was blamed for their cruel behavior. Never again.

Been taking my ferret to OAH, and they have been very good with her. We've had no issues with appointments being kept, never been kept waiting more than 15 minutes, and its nice actually having an exotic animal specialist on hand. 0 Complaints so far and my little girl is doing great.

All this place cares about is your money!!! THey would have me walk out the door with a dying dog JUST because I didnt have $1200 for him to stay there. THey didnt want to know anything until I put up the money!!! My dog was there for about 6 hours & we spent over $1200 just for xrays & IV, the euthanasia was extra. The bill said it was $100 just to take his blood pressure each time. Are you kidding me!!! People should be banned fro practicing if all they want is money!! I'll drive extra far just to avoid going to this place again!!

I really loved the place. Everyone was excellent from the girl win the reception area to the doctors who saw my cat and a prior visit i bought my hampster. The docotr was very patient and understanding. The cat I bought in was an abused cat who i witness being thrown out of the front door down the stairs by his owner. The doctor spent over an hour with me answering all of my questions (and i had many because i never owned a cat before and she was also abused). The doctor did not charge me for her care but the er visit was 169.00 just for coming in the er. I was also charged 140.00 for a blood test for heart worms, aids, and leukemia and 40.00 for the medicine. They are outrageously expensive but the care was worth it. A prior visit i bought my hampster in for swalllowing mouse poison (actually we dont know if he did but he was near it). That visit was almsot 500.00 including weekly injections. If it is not an emergency or if you can go someplace else that is cheaper then go but i lov

I could not agree more with the other comments on money hungry crooks that really don't give a damm about real people and pets. I asked them to fax blood work that I paid for to another Vet who was staying late to review it for me on our dog (criticailly ill) they had a issue with that and gave me a hard time about sending it finally agreed late in the day to fax it and they never faxed it.. and left for the day!!!! The next morning I called again and gave me a hard time, and when you ask to speak with a owner or someonine in charge you get transfered to voicemail. I highly recomend you do research before going here, all of the staff are like sales people in the way they handle you and charge. There are many good Vets in the Bergen county area that are way better in every aspect, do not let the fancy building fool you it cost over $200 just to walk through the doors, in this case you are much better served in where a Vet takes pride in there service and not the flashy building.

Despite the fact that the quality and capabilities of this facility and its vets are excellent, OAH is notorious for exploiting people's love and concern for their pets by performing loads of unnecessary and extremely costly tests to run up inconceivably HUGE bills! The ran my bill up to $2,600 in two days for a cat that was terminally ill with end-stage cancer. Three days later, my beloved cat was dead. Not only did they fail to help her, as she was beyond help, but they actually prolonged her suffering. It was a thoroughly wretched and heartbreaking experience.

Don't go to the neurologist there. He will take you for every penny he can, administer unnecessary tests, not return your phone calls and still be clueless about what's wrong. Go to Red Bank if you want to see a real neurologist. Oradell's should be selling used cars.

I had the unfortunate experience of bringing my dog to OAH when a dog chew became lodged in his esophagus. After an xray,I was told that he needed endoscopy to have it removed. It was stated that the GI doc was on the premises & I didn't have to pay extra for her to come in.No sooner did I get home, when the admitting vet called to tell me that when my dog was intubated for anesthesia, the dog chew was dislodged and was on it's way to being digested. She said the procedure was not needed and I could come to get him.Imagine my surprise when I got a huge bill for services not rendered. They charged me for the GI vet arriving to treat him (lie #1 she was already there),The Endoscopy that was not done(lie #2) and Acepromazine for sedation prior to xray (lie #3). My dog was not sedated when he walked out of the hospital that evening. When I requested the op report,I was stunned. It was a lie!I went to the administrator, the bill was partially adjusted. She denied any wrongdoing on the GI doc's part.

Definitely a facility out to get as much money out of you as possible. So be wary, asks questions, and know all your options before you happen to go there for emergency care.

State of the Art medical facility. They don't have knowledgable people using the EKG, ultrasound, xrays, etc or reading them.My vet was away-the relief vet highly recommended to go here(ends up she had interned here). What a disaster. I came in for one problem, they focused on a life long problem (non normal Cushings or something),they wanted to do all sorts of tests,I explained that it's been worked up already-my dog needed his broken bone fixed. They kept wasting time on pushing me to do a Cushing workup. I repeatedly declined,I was practically crying b/c my dog was in immense pain and not receiving care for what I came in for. Since my vet was closed, I couldn't get any lab work.I offered to sign a liability waiver, they refused. I felt that either they are total morons or they wanted my bill to be 3X. I knew there was other ERs, so I took my dog elsewhere and he received proper care.Upon her return, my vet apologized and said:relief vet:adios, she never refers to OAH. Wish I knew that.

I have brought my dogs to this hospital for 30 plus years. I have always found the staff to be kind and caring. For a brief time I took one of my current dogs to another facility. He had a cyst on his paw and the vet wanted to operate immediatly. It didn't feel right so I took him to Oradell. They did a needles biopsy for minimal cost and pronounced it a fluid cyst and told me to leave it alone. When my last dog was 12 and could barely walk and was in a great deal of pain, I brought him in and they gave me a private room where I could hold my dog while they gave him the injection to put him to sleep and allowed me the time I needed to say goodbye. When my cat was dying at 18 years old they did a surgery they were very honest with me about and gave her several more very happy months. I do say that they are very expensive and should lower their prices, but as doctors they are excellent.

Two words "CASH COW". I know its a business, but they don't have to make you feel like it as soon as you walk through the door. My dog was diagnosed with cancer. 1st vet at Oradell said I should put him down right away to put him out of his misery and pain. He was very cold about it and I just thought he was an uncaring person, so I Got a 2nd oppinion, 2nd vet at Oradell said that if my pet had surgery and chemo it would prolong his life. Said it was the best thing. I asked a stupid question of the vet...like if this was your pet what would you do? Dah..what do you think they are going to say. Anyway, after surgery and 4 months of chemo it didn't prolong anything. He didn't make it. In retrospect I should have listened to the first vet. Advice; if you have a problem its a bit of a drive but go to Red Bank. Its more resonably priced and they don't perform unneccessary tests or procedures, further, they act like they care about more than just your wallet.

horrible place to bring your pet ,if you bring your pet their you should see a hospital to have your head examined, this place is unsympathetic to your needs of your pet and is super expensive ,either way don,t go their, this place is a leaerning hospital and they teach children how to become vets on you pets .lease investigate and call for answers oradell animal hospital and ask what vet will be working on your pet ,ask for lisences, stay far away and you will be better off or should i say your pet will be better off

the only reason i took my beloved cat there is because local vets were closed because of the holiday.because i've been forewarned about that place in the past.her agony was prolonged because they "will not" commit to putting your pet down for fear of being sued.it does'nt matter that having to make a decision like that at a time when your an emotional wreck is heart wrenching, they still won't commit to do the right thing unless your pet is on it's obvious last breath ! if they go for years to school to learn the best thing to do for the animal at times like that, then they should have all the confidence in the world in making the right decision for your precious pet.they would rather have your pet suffer to the bitter end then to make a professional sound commitment like they are supposubly train to do.cold !cold ! cold!!! if you love your pet, "don't go there"

These stories are very simular to my own only worse. I brought my beloved pet dog to this facility in good faith a couple days before christmas last year and was deceived from the moment I walked in the door. I was told his condition was dire and would need life saving surgery, yet he was not operated on for over 12 hrs! After his first operation I was mis-informed that he was doing exellent (as their records show), and the staff said they would be removing him from all medications. On Christmas eve I visited my dog and asked if I can remove his u-collar to show much needed affection. When leaving I was ASSURRED IT WILL BE PUT BACK ON, well the next day I visted my dog expecting to bring him home, and was told he chewed all his sutures out (imposible with the u-collar on). After this they operated on him several times unnecessarly causing more harm. Being decieved as I was we took him out of this hosp. and he died. They told me get another dog! Cost $30000 for a dead dog!

The most horrible experiance I ever had. My cat was deiing of heart failure and efter telling me that he had no chance they gave me 2K estimate on what I can do to prolong his suffering. After agreeing to 1.5K of treetment they recomanded to pu him down. I was devastated by the death of my animal but then then they kicked me while I was down. I had a prior experiance with another cat there too and that also cost a fortune. Need to avoid this place like the plag its no wonder they could afford to move into such a fancy location.

I used Oradell animal hospital ONCE. They were less than professional. They KNEW my puppy had Parvo, did not let me know that it was Parvo then kept her hooked up to IV's for 3 days letting me think that it was just her blood sugar being low and she would fully recover. She suffered needlessly and billed me BIG $$$$$. No wonder they have such a beautiful office. IF you love your animals DO NOT GO THERE!

A little pricey for routine care, but they are thorough, caring, the facilities are fantastic, and they are always open. We see Dr. Jamison DeSantis and he's FABULOUS, I highly recommend him for thorough and persistent diagnostic care and terrific bedside manner. Hospital administration was very accommodating when we discussed high fees for treating one of my dogs' UTI. Overall, extremely satisfied. Only stopped going because we moved out of the county.
