Our dog was stepped on by our horse and ended up having a broken leg. The Vet and assistants were amazing in providing us with a few different scenarios for our dog and for our pocket book. We were given the option to have surgery done to pin his leg but because his other 3 legs were arthritic they recommended against it and suggested we cast and let it heal that way. They could have taken us for $2500+ but we're honest and said the reality is he's an older dog and one really good leg would make his other 3 worse. They called and checked up on him every week until his 3 week appt and even after the cast was removed 8 weeks later they continued to call and make sure he was ok and also sent him a get well soon post card. The staff were extremely patient with him as he's not very dog friendly and placed us in a quiet room to wait and they were also super accommodating and friendly to my kids. I would very much recommend this Vet office. Thank you ?

Terrible experience here! My dog had a severe ear infection that was missed by the doctor on more than one occasion. They ran a lot of unnecessary tests due to her incompetence that cost us a fortune! We brought her to an ER vet who quickly and accurately diagnosed her, and after medication she is fully healed. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE!!!

I love this clinic. We drive almost an hour to come here because Dr. Hislop's care is wonderful. She is very friendly, compassionate, very knowledgeable, and spends time with you. I have never felt rushed. In fact, I marvel at the time she spends with us when there may be one or more issues going on with one of our animals. You can tell she loves her work. I feel fortunate to have such a great doctor and facility near us. The rest of the staff have always been quite friendly too.

I've been taking my dogs, cats and rabbits to Bellevue for over 12 years and have always had great service and compassionate care. The vets are very knowledgeable and I think their prices are comparable to other clinics in the area. I have always found their staff to be very friendly. They are all clearly animal lovers.

I have been a client at the Bellevue Veterinary Hospital for over seven years, and their care of my dogs has been absolutely outstanding. We have seen Dr Dahl, Dr. Lesage and Dr. Hislop and couldn't be happier with their knowledge, professionalism, and attention to detail. They even offer mobile in-home appointments. The highest-quality care in the area by a landslide!

I first used the services of Bellvue2 days after moving to town. Cat was very stressed after her cross country drive. They advertised house calls in the phone book. They came quickly, were very kind, gentle and informative. I have stuck with them now for nine years. Dr Dahl is always my first choice as he seems to have a particular interest in cats. Has one himself. I have friends with dogs who love him as well. He has seen me through the final days of a 20 yr old cat with kidney failure and a 10 yr old cat with pancreatitis. He couldn't of been more empathetic or kind to my beloved pets. He tried everything to save Tara and called daily. Recently he saved Oliver from a urinary blockage. Again I was called the day after his release to check on him and again two weeks later on a Sunday. Yes they cost a little more but I have every faith in them. The vet technitions also are very kind and informative.

Have taken my animals here for many years. They have been able to diagnose serious problems that other clinics overlooked or misdiagnosed. Have found all the vets are very thorough and kind. A little pricey but it is worth the peace of mind of getting good veterinary service. They are excellent at fitting you in on short notice. Once in a while they are not punctual with appointments.

Took two year old vomiting Labrador to Bellevue. 2 hours and $500 later, they diagnosed pancreatitis.Dog transferred to Central Island Vet Emergency Hosp Nanaimo because Bellevue did not have facilities for overnight intravenous treatment.Under their objection, removed dog from Central Island 24 hours and $800 later because Central Island could not 'gaurantee' existence of pancreatitis. Two days later dog still vomiting and Bellevue vet phoned to ask if we would consider surgury on 'possible' stomach mass Central Island xrays detected. Said NO. Day 3 dog STOPPED vomiting when we stopped administering sulcrate solution prescribed by Central Island on dog's discharge. Days 4 and 5 dog eating and drinking minimal amounts without vomiting. Day 6 dog passes stool containing 1/8 clothes dryer ball and elastic band intertwined and tangled with hair and grass. Day 7, dog eating and drinking normally and returning to good health. Good vets and value for money Bellvue and Central Island ?????

They charge too much. I practically had to beg dr keller to administer the ear drops to my dog, that were prescribed...i mean for the money they charge they can put the drops in to show me how its done.

Personally found front desk staff rude, slow and uninformed and from the many people I know who have used this clinic I have heard of terrible handling, overcharging, unnecessary procedures, bad surgeries, vaccination of sick animals resulting in anaphylactic shock and near death, it amazes me the place is still functioning and people still support it! I wouldn't take any animal of mine here if it were the only place available.

Charged $1200 for a procedure that cost $200 elsewhere, would not start treatment until paid, extremely rude.

Considering the # of vets at the clinic I am surprised that they do not have ultra-sound or digital x-rays. We had many things go wrong there in 2009 and have since switched to a clinic that is less expensive yet manages to have all the latest equipment.

Caring and considerate. They also are able to have two vets come in if there is an after hours emergency. That is reassuring.

I took my 3yr old cat to the vet because it looked like he had a skin tag. The vet thought it looked like a skin tag too, it actually came off while she was touching it. She decided to take a sample of the blood (right from this site) and found out it had was abnormal, she told me my cat had a cancerous tumor, would need a major operation and would probably continue to get them and eventually die from this. I was very upset, but I realized a few problems with her conclusion. For example any blood you take directly from a site, would be abnormal. I decidedto take my young cat to another vet at a different office. I took him to Mid Isle Vet clinic. The vet was very good, he answered all my question, got my cats medical info faxed over. He told me if it was indeed a tumor (he never believed this) that he would just freeze the skin and remove it, which would got $160 in total, the other vet wanted to charge me $500. I waited like the vet recommended I do, my cat is fine and healthy still.

I have used this clinic for a year to help several of my cats. I found everyone to be helpful & professional. From the front desk staff to the vets. I originally saw Dr. Dahl and found him to be excellent. The last couple of times he was not on duty, so I saw another vet named Natasha. I don't know her last name & felt at ease to be on a 1st name basis with her. She was also great. I was so relieved that they were open on the weekends. Yes, I ended up seeing a different vet---but it was awesome that they had extended hours. Plus, whatever vet you see will have access to your pet's charts. I never felt "rushed" during the appointments. Both vets took time to explain everything & often phoned me back to check up. I don't know if they are expensive because cost is not a huge issue for me & my pets. But I found both vets offering me choices in therapy. From a conservative approach of treatment to more aggressive options. I think that's fair.

had a snarky response from front office - front office unfriendly. Vets are ok but expensive and you get changed around from vet to vet. Seems like a factory. I changed to another practice.
