Click to report rating    8/25/19 Be prepared to receive a dead cat, a broken heart, and a debtful of medical bills! Cats Only is owned by VCA, a multiple billion$ vet monopoly. You will be paying corporate pricing for your vet visits and that your vets are paid on a commission basis. ***Search "Vets On Commission" or "VCA Monopoly" *** Expect significantly higher service fees here but not the best veterinary competence. Be prepared to not be informed of the risks of the services or treatment recommended to you. Be prepared to have all of their team back up on your vet's misjudgement about your cat's post-surgery condition. Be prepared to be recommended to their associate VCA emergency hospital which was quoted at $3500 per night! Do your research & compare quotes around. Don't be fooled when they offer discounts or memberships as it doesn't really save you money! Read the 1star reviews on Yelp and Google to know real experiences here! RID: 68490

9/19/17 Every treatment done for our old cat at the very end of his life was about them getting paid. But the worst of all was that vets were constantly pushing to give him pain drugs which made him worse every time he received them during past 3 months of his life. Money grabbing over genuine care is what you get at this place. RID: 64667
Click to report rating    8/11/17 Yes, they are expensive but they are feline experts and not generalists. I strongly believe that JUST LIKE HUMANS, cats need regular check ups and preventative care. Sadly way too many people wait for a problem before visiting a vet. That is often why they are shocked by the expense. Responsible pet ownership is no different from how you raise your own kids.      10/19/15 Came here with both of my cats. Always felt like visiting an expensive business not a good vet. Disagreed with both vets I saw about their diagnostics. My male cat with bladder infection was apparently stressed out and my female cat with reaction to vaccination was told that she has ringworm. Sick and tired on spending hundreds of dollars for bad care. RID: 58733
Click to report rating    10/6/15 The staff here are absolutely astounding. They put their heart and soul into every patient. The hate against them for being owned by AVC is absurd, their care comes first, not their corporation. RID: 58606
Click to report rating    6/7/15 I brought my senior kitty in here recently because he had suddenly become lethargic. They gave me suggestions for what to do and explained the benefit of each one and provided me with estimates for each possible treatment plan. The cost seemed a bit much but they took the time to go over all the costs and didnt guilt trip me into extra costs. They ran full bloodwork, urine tests, blood pressure as part of a package they have. Turned out my kitty was hyperthyroid and also suffered from kidney disease. They got back to me quickly with these results so I was able to start him on meds right away. The staff was amazing! Very caring and put every effort into making it comfortable for my boy during his visit. RID: 57319
Click to report rating    10/15/13 I just found out after my latest appointment this clinic is now owned by AVC. They recently shut down some clinics I read online. I went to this clinic because I liked the doctors and staff and believed I was supporting local industry. The staff are great, we've always been happy there but this isn't what I, or my family, want in vancouver. Granville Island vet is across the street so we will probably switch before the prices get increased and things get too "corporate". RID: 47635
Click to report rating    4/25/13 I took my cat here for an abscessed tooth on a day that my regular vet was closed. I think he received good care (my regular vet said he would have done the same thing), but I found the vet abrupt and didn't really tell me what was going on. She also seemed to really want to do extensive expensive testing without getting the current situation under control, talking to my usual vet or really assessing his current care. RID: 42063

Click to report rating    6/14/12 They took advantage of me & put my cat at risk. I took her in because of lethargy & dandruff. She had what I thought was a full exam & I left with a vague diagnosis of "food allergies" but a 450$ geriatric/senior blood test would be needed. Funny that they added 2yr to her age, just qualifying her as a senior. I decided to change her food & wait. 2 wks later she lost 4lb &had stiff hind legs with enlarged nodes. I desperately took her in & was told they needed the 450$ blood test + $400 for Xrays & aspirates of the "suspected" lymph nodes (shouldn't they know what a lymph node is?) I finally agreed to the blood test, & only then did they check her temp, almost like an after thought. She had a FEVER. I have an immunology backgrd, & fever/symp indicate bacterial infection, which was later confirmed by the blood test. After all this they claimed "lack of data" & wanted more tests. I wish I took her temp myself & saved $1000. They care about $, not your pet. Staff r nice but not competent. RID: 34967
Click to report rating    10/30/11 My diabetic cat went into remission (his glucose levels dropped) and even after I emailed his home test results to the vet I was told over the phone to maintain his insulin. If I had listened he would have gone into insulin shock and possibly died. They also missed two rotten teeth and a dental infection. I also waited two days and had to follow-up with a phone call before I was able to talk to someone regarding his glucose test results. Although the staff is friendly and nice, the rotating vets seems to mean things get missed. RID: 28705
Click to report rating    7/25/11 Took my senior cat to Cats Only yesterday for the first time when I found him collapsed on the floor. The vet was busy but immediately looked at him and knew right away he was dying of Kidney Failure possibly due to Cancer. She recommended putting him down, didn't try to suggest medication or test etc to get more money and was very compassionate and understanding. Facilities were very clean and comfortable, everyone was very accommodating and they had great service. I will definitely go back if/when I rescue a new cat. RID: 26452
Click to report rating    7/20/11 I was a bit nervous going here due to the reviews.. But I'm SO glad I ignored them!! The people there were amazing; easy to talk to and helpful! Right when I checked in they took my kitten around (with my permission) and introduced him to all the staff. I even met the owner who was also very nice (I let him know how much I loved the idea of a cats only vet). They have a beautiful modern setup inside, with a giant scratching/bed post for your cat/kitten! Don't worry about parking beacuse they have some in the back. Such a great experience, no doubt that I'll go back there. RID: 26349
Click to report rating    6/14/11 Have taken my cats here over the last two years and have had good quality and continuity of care from both the vets and other staff. Yes it's rotating staff, but if you like one vet, schedule a visit when that vet is working. I have had no issue with cost, as I find veterinary costs expensive as a whole, but these guys have been cheaper than some of the other clinics I have previously been to (Animal Care Clinic for one!) and have helped me out with scheduling tests etc. according to my pet insurance renewals. I trust that they have my kitties' best interests at heart. RID: 25619
Click to report rating    2/25/11 We recently got 2 kittens from an animal rescue woman at TLC in langley. (By the way, do not get any cats from her. She says they are checked by a vet but I strongly suspect that is false.) Within our first week with our 2 kittens, they developed eye infections, herepes, clamidia, one got pneumonia and both had ear mites and fleas. The ENTIRE staff at Cats Only has done a fantastic and thurough job diagnosing the problems and treating these 2 little guys. Although it is a bit pricy, the vet, Dr. Robert Junkin, displayed an enormous amount of patience and took the time to explain the issues and treatments. I think is the sign of a GREAT vet. Our 2 little guys are on the road to recovery and would like to say a big Thank You to everyone at Cats Only. signed...King Henry and Sir Walter Reilly :) RID: 23152
Click to report rating    12/21/10 The worst experience I ever had. In my opinion rotating vets is a very bad choice, they don't care about the individual cat, only money. Push food and tests that are unnecessarily, rude staff, rude owner. The vets are general vets not cats only as the clinic claims to be. They charge you insane amounts tell you to do more and more tests, overpriced meds. The fancy new furniture and the flashing lights just don't make a good veterinary clinic, it's the people and how a patient and his/her owner is respected (not this one), you may get a good vet once but good luck the next time. If you want outstanding service go to Vancouver Feline Hospital, they truly care about cats and you, the initial examination might be a bit more but you will save everywhere else and get great suggestions and stuff that you can do yourself that really works and heals your cat!! And it is only one vet and she is amazing!! RID: 21542
Click to report rating    12/9/10 I recently moved to the area and wanted to take my cat for grooming and a check up. The cost $$$ Hefty amount. However, i would do anything for my cat. Needless to say the receptionist was to call me in advance, which she never did. Thought this to be rude and endangering to my pet for they said i was to leave her without food/water for 18hrs!!! RID: 21333

11/15/10 This place has fallen appart since Dr. Margie retired. Just in it for the money, with the flash new place and nice furniture, but no longer a special place that cares for special cats. I'd rather go somewhere that the vets really care than somewhere with nice counters RID: 20888
Click to report rating    11/12/10 I have mixed feelings about Cats Only, which Mr. Grimsby has used for the past 2 years. I don't like that the vets rotate, so you can't always get the same vet. Mr. G is terrified of the place, but it may be because they've had to take blood a couple of times. The vet missed an important allergic reaction to Tapazole. Owners cannot, by law, return medicine to the clinic so I was out-of-pocket $$$$ for meds that Mr. G couldn't take (they sold it in 3-week doses - it would be better to offer smaller packages to start). They faxed his files to Acadia Vet right away. I will take Mr G back to Cats Only for blood work and diagnostics, but he was much happier and more relaxed at Acadia. The owner phoned to ask why I'd switched, which is good business practice. So, I'm torn - nice staff, great facilities, ridiculously expensive, and Mr G hates it. RID: 20837
Click to report rating    8/25/10 $$$$$ they're in the money..tried to convince me to have my dying cat x-rayed for no good reason to explore possible cancerous tumor. They could simply feel if tumor was growing. They are OK if you don't mind parting with your money...but I didn't feel it was necessary for my cat to have an ultra sound just so they could try there new high tech toy. (and charge a couple hundred for it as well) RID: 19398
Click to report rating    6/9/09 Very compassionate with me and my girlfriend when our cats kidneys failed. They took him in and cared for him, taught us how to care for him at home. He didn't make it after all but I'll never forget how good everyone was at the Cat's only clinic. Someone followed up days later to see how things were and I thought that was very good of them, they also sent a sympathy card which was heart warming as well RID: 13119
Click to report rating    3/17/09 Missed a diagnosis of thyroid storming with a friends cat last year. Were "too busy" to fax over medical reports to another vet that had to see the cat on an emergency basis after his treatment or lack of treatment with them. Too many rotating vets to care about your cat, staff overwhelmed. They were better when they were a ONE vet facility. Don't bother unless you don't mind seeing a different vet each time. The cat passed away within 48 hrs. RID: 12143
Click to report rating    6/14/07 Amazing clinic. The staff are so friendly, knowledgeable and supportive. They took great care of my little one, Sam. Clinic set up is awesome: private rooms, no cold sterile counters. So not like other clinics I went to when we were trying to figure out what was wrong with our kitten. Wouldn't trust anyone else with Sam! RID: 4536
