Refusing to take appointment for cat neutering due to COVID-19. This is a time-sensitive procedure and is required. I also require this for breeder as cat is purebred and contract stipulates to neuter. Other vets are not taking new clients so this is a big problem.

Secretary staff are quite rude and judgmental. Really get the impression from a lot of staff that if you are not taking in your pets very very frequently, than you are "neglecting" them; even if you're paying thousands of dollars a year on them. I was told by a secretary while paying an expensive vet bill that, "just think of all the money you've saved not bringing her here all these years." Unprofessional. Some staff are awesome, some are not.

I have been a client since 2006. The staff has always been friendly and professional. We had a dog who suffered from over heating, we took her in and a staff member stayed up with her all night. When we had to put another dog down (age), they were wonderful. They kept the facility open after hours so that we could be alone.i have a hard time believing the other reviews.

This is not our normal vet, but we live in stittsville and this was the closest vet to us. Our poor girl Finley who is 5 months old broke her leg while jumping up and she slipped on the ice and fell backwards. We drove her to vet and ran inside ( emotional ) the staff and clients were inside chatting. My boyfriend went to place our dog down and were told not to and in fact they couldn’t help us at all as they were just about to close and turned us away. I am beyond disappointed in the way they handled this and hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else, I’d save yourself the trip and go somewhere else.

I am shocked by the negative comments in these posts. I have been a client since 1993. Through the years and many animals under their care I have never been dealt with anything but respect and my babies met with the same treatment. I think because we get free Healthcare we expect the same for out animals. Lost many from age related illnesses and when those devastating times hit the love for their client my family member was above and beyond. Incredible staff front and back. When our family member passed they were very caring; Sending condolences, donations to in my pets name and allowing us the time to stay with our darling while they passed. I live on the other side of the city but still make the drive to the best Veterinary hospital in the city! Thank you Dr GLavin and staff. Dr Grenier thank you for making our latest loss a little easier!

We have been to Carp road with three emergency visits and transferred all care to them after the first time. One broken foot, two separate surgeries, each time I am blown away by their dedication to animals. The staff are incredible, always finding an immediate slot for emergencies, and even stayed late when we called in with a very urgent emergency, requiring surgery, ten minutes before close. I can't say enough great things about this team, and will continue to recommend them to anyone I know. The pricing is more than reasonable (actually less than my prior two vets, and significantly less on the emergency side), but the service and quality of care received makes every penny (hundreds of thousands of pennies by now) worth it.

Very pricey and they try to solicit more services then needed. Had teeth done $900...2 years later and less teeth $1600....then I get calls berating me for only going when some thing wrong...whose dog is it...

Information about results weren't being relayed..and staff did not seem to care about concerns. I wasn't sure what was going on with my dog and then he ended up having to be euthanized. Cost was crazy.

Entered with sick dog. Walked out 30 minutes later after dog put down. $400. I will not get another dog until I find a vet that doesn't rip people off.

Always happy with staff and the vets we deal with. Our dog loves to go there which is unusual. The cost is normal, I believe, and we are happy that our dog, now 11, is well cared for and always remembered by the staff.

I have only good to say about this clinic and all the staff. About a year ago my dog had pancreatitis and the vet agreed to see me even though the clinic was about to close. The receptionists were very kind, everyone treated my dog with concern. Dr Grenier performed a few quick tests and started treating my dog promptly. I was very impressed with his willingness to explain everything thoroughly to me and treated my decisions with respect. I would highly recommend this vet to anyone!

Prices seem pretty high. When ordering insulin supplies it sometimes take two days for them to fill the order. I'm also wondering if i'm not being strung along to keep me on the hook for regular blood glucose curves.

Wow! I've been incredibly blown away by this hospital. The veterinarian, Michelle Hansford, is so sweet and caring (to both the animal and the owner). She is incredibly knowledgeable and takes the time to go over things thoroughly. I would highly recommend her. Also, the staff at the front is very friendly. I was greeted promptly and taken into a room immediately. My ONLY complaint is the cost. I completely understand that vets are expensive, but this is by far the highest I've ever seen in my experience. $25 just to have a cat's nails clipped, while they are under anesthetic (why so high? Most other vets offer this as a free service. It's a 10 second task, which is very easy when the animal is unconscious). But, I guess you get what you pay for. I'm still very happy with this hospital and will continue to take my pets there in the future!

Our dog (aged 10)has had stomach and intestinal trouble most of his life, he had been seen regularly at many different Ottawa area clinics in the past and no solution had been found (just temporary "fixes" which often left him feeling worse). We took him to Carp Road Animal Hospital and they did extensive testing,kept him overnight for observation and found a solution within 24 hours! Yes, it was costly but compared to the amount of money spent over the years without result and more importantly the pain & discomfort our poor dog had been experiencing... worth every penny spent. Our thanks go out to the entire staff for their hard work and dedication!

The staff at Carp Road are very reliable and very friendly. I cannot remember a time that I called or was in with my dogs, that they did not make us feel more than welcome. The care they provide for my crew is always excellent, the doctors compassionate and caring. One of my dogs had pancreatitis and was hospitilized, the love and TLC he recieved from the nurses made me feel more at ease leaving him in their care. I have been a long time client and will continue to be!

We boarded our cat at this facility who is diabetic. Our cat becomes very stressed in facilities so they didnt give the cat his medicine but still wanted to charge us for giving medicine and wanted to charge us for picking up the cat early. A single night for the cat cost more than a night for our two dogs at a kennel. Outrageous and unbelievable. Find another vet!

The staff at here is amazing. My cat, Phoenix had stopped eating for some reason & another clinic insisted that I try a different food. I decided to try it. When that still didn't work, I decided to seek a second opinion & on the advice of a friend, made an appointment at Carp Road. The girls out front greeted me & showed concern when I told them what was happening. I was told that I would be seeing Dr. Glavin & when he entered, he started asking questions about what was going on, what I was trying. We had to run some tests, which were thankfully reasonably priced, as I live on a budget. When the test results came in, Dr. Glavin called me to give the results & all the options. When I went in to pick up the meds, the girls once again greeted me, & even asked how Phoenix is. I am now a regular client & I experience the same caring environment each time I go in, for both my cats, Phoenix & her brother Salem, for check-ups & food. I recommend them to all my friends & family.

I certainly find the doctors are very knowledgable. I trust their judgment. The staff are very courteous and will always find the answer to my question. The facilities are clean. I wish they had a bulletin board with the Doctor's names as well as the staff (first names would do). Maybe some pet pictures like other vet's office have up just to give it a personal touch. I will agree with other comments that they are usually running behind schedule and the prices are very high compared to other vets. I have always been treated very nice there and our animals (who are #1) are always taken care of. The girls do very nice "foot imprints" when your animal has passed on. That's a very nice touch. Thank you to all the staff who work out front, the doctors and the Office Manager who always has time for my questions. You are all the best!

We used this vet when we first moved to the area - and quickly went looking for other options. The prices were unreasonable and the prices were rather steep. Two incidents caused us great concern. The first was regarding heartworm medications - we had moved from another province that has no incidence of heartworm, but we were severely chastised for our supposed negligent care of our dogs. The second incident was when our dog got into a small package of dessicant from some linens we purchased. I called the clinic in a panic, was told to call an animal poison control (sorry, I can't remember the specific name she gave me)and to GOOGLE THE PHONE NUMBER. I was shocked. Then, when I obtained the phone number online, it turned out to be a pay for service number that was only available to residents of the United States.

The staff are nice and everything is usually clean and neat. However, I feel like I have spent hours of my life in the waiting room and examination rooms - always late. I don't know what the system is but it doesn't work. However, I could put up with that if it weren't for the pricing. In 2008, our cat Humphrey needed 9 teeth removed. That cost us 1200$. This past weekend, we found out he needed two more removed and were given an estimate: 1800$. Not sure how that happened, 9 teeth cost way less. Maybe if we ask that they just take out the rest of his teeth the price will go down? It's ridiculous. Now we are going to go look at other vets and hopefully we are able to find a place that will help us for a REASONABLE price. 2'000 for two teeth removed? 1'000$ a tooth? I don't think so. The only other alternative is putting our cat down at quite a cost of course. Thanks a lot Carp Road Animal Hospital - greedy, greedy, greedy.

The service was fine but I wasn't happy with the attitude of the vet I dealt with. My dog is a pet, a member of the family, spoiled rotten. Everything was fine at this vet until I casually remarked that I had entered my dog in a few dog shows. It wasn't for me or the dog so we stopped after 4 shows. You'd think I'd been caught running a puppy mill. From that point forward the vet talked to me/dealt with me like I was scum, this while I was spending over $1K all in the name of keeping the dog comfortable (he had an ear infection from playing the hose). There's nothing worse than someone who spits in your eye while taking your cash. I'm not going back. I've dealt with other vets who can see that the dog is clearly a pet and are much more respectful of their clients.

Before I post my negative comments, I have to say the chiropractic care by Dr. Seely is WONDERFUL. The day-to-day vet care is atrocious. Always late in appointments. Prices keep going up, up, up. Impossible to get same day appointments for semi-emergencies. Pushing services I don't want. The icing on the cake for me to look for another vet was they were annoyed that I went to another (cheaper) vet for a rabies shot and they informed me that unless I was a "dedicated" client, then I could no longer use their services. Well, I'm now going to vets in Ogdensburg, NY for a fraction of the price and am thrilled with the prices/services in the States. Only an hour away . .. I'm DONE with this vet and their shenanigans.
