What a great experience I had at Live Oak Veterinary Hospital! Wait time was minimal; the care from Dr. Lloyd was top notch; and the staff was friendly. 5 stars all around.

I have been happy with the care of my fur babies here for years. The current staff is the nicest, most caring group that have been at this hospital. We are treated as family.

"DR." SUSAN LLOYD HAS A PREOCCUPATION WITH HERSELF AND HER INTIMATE LIFE. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK MY CAT IN SHE CAME OUT 45 MINUTES PAST MY APPOINTMENT AND WAS SEEMINGLY DRUNK. SHE SMELLED OF BEER AND WAS INAPPROPRIATELY DRESSED. THE NEXT TIME I ONLY WENT THERE BECAUSE MY DOG HAD JUST BEEN HIT AND SHE WAS THE CLOSEST TO THE ACCIDENT. WHILE I WAITED AND WAITED SHE WAS IN THE OTHER ROOM WITH SOMEONE GROANING. WHEN HER "MATE" LEFT THE ROOM AND SHE FINALLY DID SEE MY DOG THAT WAS PROFUSELY BLEEDING, SHE WANTED TO OVERCHARGE ME FOR A SIMPLE PROCEDURE. WHEN I COULDNT PAY HER ABSURD FEES SHE HAD SOMEONE COME OUT TO TELL ME SHE COULD PUT MY DOG DOWN. I WENT TO THE NEXT CLOSEST VET AND HE ONLY CHARGED ME $65 FOR SOMETHING SHE WANTED TO CHARGE ME OVER $800 FOR. WHEN MY FATHER TOOK HIS PET IN HE SAID SHE SMELT OF ALCOHOL THEN TOO. GUESS SHES KNOWN AS THE DRUNK VET HERE. GLAD I MOVED AND HAVE BETTER PET CARE.

I was told that my dog had a very bad case of heartworms and would need to go through the expensive heartworm treatments and that if I didn't my dog wouldn't live another 6 months. I give my dogs heartworm pills every month and I thought something sounded a little funny so I declined the heartworm treatments and 7 years later my dog is fine and has been checked by another vet and given a healthy clean bill of health.I wouldn't take a rattlesnake to that vet!!!!

This clinic gives vets all over a bad rap because they routinely do services that are not asked for and are not needed (I''m a vet tech... I know these things). Their vet was also quick to recommend euthanasia for an AWESOME & very treatable shelter dog because she didn't want to do his surgery. He's now doing fine and living in a terrific home after another vet did his surgery for 20% of what the quote was at Live Oak. My experience leads me to think that animals are solely a means to an unreasonable financial end for this vet, and I really hate to say that because it's really not true of most vets (I know more than most how expensive vet hospitals are to staff, keep inventory for & operate). Avoid Live Oak VH, folks. There are much better & more caring vets in Morehead City.

The facility itself is nice but the staff and the doctor is RUDE! Went in for a routine check up for my 2 dogs, they clipped thier nails did thier fecal exams..1 dog had gotten round worms which she did't even take the time to explain what they were or what they did the doctor pretty much just blamed everything that was wrong with the dog on me. Not even taking the time to know that i had just rescued the dog!At the end of the visit she just sent me to the front desk where i was told my bill would be $695.00!for 2 boxes of heartgard a nail clipping that they did not inform me would cost $12, wormer for the round worms was $300 and a bunch of other things that no body had previously explained the costs or what i was supposed to do with! Then i was told i had to pay the entire bill that day. There was no way that i could have done this. So in front of an entire waiting room of people i had to tell the lady at the front desk that i couldnt pay it all today so she gave me 2 doses of the h
