Dr. Rafter and Dr. Madaio (sp) are the best in my experience. I followed Dr. Rafter from the Lansingburg Vet to Latham. For my pekingese Teddybear who had different health issues throughout her 12.5 yrs., Dr. Rafter not only diagnosed the problem quickly but took the time to explain the obstacles we would face and more than likely the outcome. Not only is she extremely knowledgable in her profession, but she is so caring and gentle and a lovely person. I trust her completely with my pup and cannot say enough about this woman. Dr. Madaio I met while going to the Latham Animal Hospital. Dr.Rafter works part time, so when she wasn't in I would see Dr. Madaio. She also is extremely knowledgable, caring and kind. The day my pet had to be put down because she was suffering, I count my blessings everyday for the treatment given to me and my pup that day. If you are looking for a doctor and staff that are truly the best, go see them at Latham Animal Hospital. You'll be so glad you did.

The Vet was very professional and her Name is miss Megan she is a very good vet But her tech the tall witch with black short hair should not be working with animals because she was very mean to my dog who never puts her tail between her legs. The front desk is run like it's a high school and are not professional at all ! One woman wears a tube in her nose and starts most of the trouble in that place she's been there for years ! Why I'll never know! As long as they keep this staff their vets will never shine!! It's changed a lot for the worse in the past 7 years!! Now I'm afraid the tech is gonna hurt Abby and I will retaliate!! Abby had thrombocytopenia and was put on 100 mgs prednisone now she is on 2mgs of prednisone almost off it and she's back to normal thank God! But not one Vet called to check on Abby not once!! That one tech has to go the rest are good ! She's to big to be bullying animals!!I am going to report this! She needs a job at a jail!!

i took my 8 mth old dachsund there with vomiting and diarrhea. he was diagnosed with parvo. they said he had to stay for approx. 7 days and it would cost anywhere from $1000 to $1300. they kept him for 9 days and charged me $2083 plus 51 for a prescription i had to pick up and bring back to them. the vet told me to pick him up because he just needed to eat and he would do better at home. she gave me 6 meds and 1 hour he got home he went into shock. i took him back to the vet because he was suffering too much. they charged me another $70 to put him to sleep and cremate him. This was horrible, for me and for my dog. i would never ever take an animal there again. the cage they had him was dirty and smelled terrible. they just put him in the cage and only looked in on him for meds and an attempt at disgusting food. my dog was an emotional support service animal and helped me to overcome agoraphobia. now what?

We ahve been going to Latham Animal Hospital since we got our dog in 1995.We have NEVER had a problme and everyone there has always been kind and efficient. We had to bring our dog in for emergency service on a sunday and we were met at the door and they took Sage right in and took care of her. We love Dr. Rafter and all the vets and staff there.

I went in to buy food recently and the 2 male doctors were having an altercation! If they do that in front of clients, I can only imagine what happens to pets when nobody is looking!!!

Terrible!
The staff was unprofessional, Seemed to only care about making a dollar not concerned with my dog's well-being at all. She was being borded there for 3 days, told me when I picked her up they were charging me for a physical, which I did not authorize and then told me that if I didnt pay, they were seizing ownership. I would not reccomend this vet to anyone!!!

3 days ago my husband and I adopted a dog from a shelter with some known behavioral issues. When we arrived the front desk staff was very understanding and kind. An agressive dog came in while we were waiting and began bearing his teeth, growling and snarling at myself and my small dog. My dog unfortuntately barks incessantly at other dogs and is agressive although has never growled or bore her teeth. In the exam room the vet was extremely irritable and snapped at my husband and I numerous times about our dog's beahvior. She told us that she should have never been adopted out. I am aware that my dog has behavioral problems that need attention. I had no moral issue with musseling her to be sure that staff was safe; however the vet was extermemly harsh and rude. The vet even blamed us for the other animals acting up because of my dog's loud barking before we could get her around the agressive dog to bring her outside to calm down. Fair prices IF we had recieved good service.

No one even looked at me when I walked in. They clearly saw me and continued on their conversation. They finally took my pet in and had misdiagnosed from before. They took several xrays (without telling me how much it may be) My bill came to over 200.00 after I already told them what was wrong with the animal. I knew what he had, just needed medicine or a shot. The doctor was very nice but the veterinarian assistant was such a grouch. You couldn't get a smile out of her if your life depended on it, my goodness. They should have found the problem last time or at least have a price chart in the office..something. I feel like I got ripped off..There goes almost half my paycheck. Thank you Latham Animal Hospital! So many of my friends had terrible experiences at this facility. I always defended this office..I don't know why.

The vets there are not very friendly. We had been taking all our animals there, but have since changed vets due to lack of care. The last straw was when one of our Rat Terriers got sick. They thought it was a UTI. They gave us medicine, but she only got worse, so we brought her back. The vet didn't even really care to see her and just gave us a higher dose of medicine. We knew this was not helping and took her to Bought Vet for a second opinion. When we brought her in the vet there looked at her and did an emergency surgery for a kidney stone. If we waited one more day she would have been dead! Needless to say you now know who our new vet is.

These vets try to pass themselves off as an emergency clinic. I went there in a panic with my dog looking for the real emergency clinic and they misled me into believing that they were the real thing. Apparently the real emergency clinic is down the road. Wow!! This is really unprofessional. Be careful folks!

I took my minpin here once. Granted, he's not friendly, but the staff acted like he was the worst dog they'd ever seen. They muzzled him, and pinned him down to the point he was yelping, and then they stuck a needle in while he was still moving, and he ripped it out. They all were complaining the entire time, even while they were cleaning up blood from their ignorance. Go see Dr. Burns at Bayberry, he's MUCH more passionate, and personable. You are just a number and a problem at Latham Animal Hospital
