Click to report rating    10/20/09 I've had to use this facility a couple of times for emergency care. They were on top of things, very accommodating. Also, took good care of my other dog while in ICU. Yes, the rates are pricey, but for ER, what does one expect. And, they have "real" DVMs on call (good ones), not the usual "junior" DVMs often found at ER clinics. RID: 14907
Click to report rating    10/31/08 My new puppy wasn't eating, was vomiting and having diarrhea. I called Atlantic Street Veterinary Hospital immediately. The receptionist was very concerned about my little baby and advised me to bring her in. My puppy was seen right away and the doctor recommended a test for parvo. Even though my puppy had gotten 2 of her vaccines she wasn't yet finished with her baby shots and the test came up positive. The doctor and nurses were wonderful in explaining parvo to me and letting me know what care my puppy needed. My puppy was in the hospital for 2 full days. The doctors and nurses updated me regularly and were always friendly when I called them (even in the middle of the night). My puppy recovered and is home now and doing just great. Emergency veterinary care can be expensive (no where near as bad as human hospitals) but the quality of care my puppy got was remarkable. I can't thank the doctors, nurses and other staff enough for saving my puppy's life. RID: 10460
Click to report rating    5/28/08 I don't mind the extra expense. I do mind that even when they aren't busy, you will sometimes wait for hours because they "Don't want to bother the veterinarian." I particularly mind that they ALWAYS recommend surgrery. We've been there three times. All three times they've recommended emergency surgery, including a GI surgery. With the GI problem, my dog passed the rocks EASILY. They are there to make money not to do the best job for your pet. Use with extreme caution. RID: 8639
Click to report rating    5/2/08 Pretty Sterile bedside manners, but overall quite competent Vets. And, you do have to wait, its an emergency clinic, so expect it!! They are pricey, but your getting emergency service, so thats what you pay for. Don't consider them your local friendly vet, they're NOT. They are EMR Docs and they behave accordingly, good, competent, and they are there for the emergencies and good at it!! RID: 8368
Click to report rating    1/14/08 If I could've given zero "stars", I would have... The staff was inconsiderate and left me on hold forever while I was waiting for an update. Once while I was crying over what I'd just heard about my pet's condition in the middle of the nite, their staff person actually sighed like she was irritated and put me on hold! HORRIBLE service; my pet ultimately died and I was stuck with a HUGE bill. RID: 6947
