This vet is close to my house therefore if my dog needs urgent attention and my regular vet is not available I go here. I went here the other day and turned out my dog had fleas. The receptionist took my credit card information before the appointment. Then the vet informed me after the appointment that my dog needs flea treatment to take home. I expected the receptionist to come out and tell me how much the bill would be. Instead they came out with my dog and a $200 bill. I told them this was unacceptable and you cannot charge peoples credit cards without asking and without verifying the amount. I asked for a refund and I was met with rude staff. They told me the flea treatment amount was the price they get it from the supplier. It took a 2 second search to find that I was being overcharged and I also called my regular vet and they charge less than half that Burquitlam did.
Today I received a letter that my dog and myself are no longer welcome at this vet anymore.

We have taken our many pets. over the last 35 years to this hospital. All of the doctors are very knowledgeable and kind. The staff are very accommodating. Our pets have always received the best care and we would never consider going anywhere else.

We have dealt with all the vets at this clinic, including locums that have come in and we have never had anything short of a wonderful experience. Vet techs and reception are always very pleasant. I wouldn't take my dogs anywhere else.

We recently had to put our precious Sasha down. We have been clients of this facility for 15 years with cats and dogs... the compassion is never ending and comforting. The entire staff is amazing, caring and I will never forget the kind words of Dr Vanstone when it was allover. Thank you all so much for your caring and compassion! Dawn R

I met Burquitlam team while bringing my PADS puppies in for care, but have since switched all my animals over. My 8 year old sheltie looks better at 8 than she did at 3 thanks to the amazing knowledge of Dr Kurtz. So grateful I found these amazing people!

We've been bringing our poodle cross to this clinic for a few years now. The staff and vets are fantastic with our dog and we've never felt that we were overpaying for anything done. Highly recommend this clinic if you don't have a vet for your animal.

We couldn't be happier. The staff genuinely care for the pets. We are specially thankful to Dr. Vanstone - she is patient and takes time to explain, she fixed our dog's recurring stomach upset issues with a simple suggestion to switch his chicken based diet. Highly recommended.

After a horiffic experience with my previous vet, which resulted in my dog having to be put to sleep, I am fearful of trusting a vet again. I brought my new dog here upon a friend's recommendation, and I am so glad I did. Although it was just an initial visit for a check up, Dr Hopkins was so thorough and patient and very knowledgable. Feel very comfortable that my dog will get great care here..

Always excellent service and everyone is always so friendly and knowledgable!I would never take any of my animals anywhere else. Having a veterinary clinic around for over 50 years says something about the practice and the staff working there.

I have always taken my animals here and so have all my friends. They have always treats my "family" with respect and taken very good care of them. They were wonderful with my dog, treating her with care and dignity through all her health problems.

It’s been 2 years since I euthanized my dog of 11 years at this clinic, and I still feel the trauma of how she was euthanized by Dr Hopkins. When I brought my dog in to be euthanized, she was separated from me to have the intravenous catheter inserted her veins. My dog had bone cancer in her front leg, an extremely painful condition, and she was made to limp to the back lab to have this procedure done. Then what happened next shocked me to my very core. Because my dog was 90 pounds, 4 assistants had to carry her back to me, and they each grabbed one of her legs, held her high in the air, and carried her back to me for the euthanasia to take place. My dog was absolutely hysterical, screaming, and hyperventilating as she was carried back to me from being held high in the air like that. Then in this panic-stricken state, my dog was euthanized. I was deeply horrified that my dog was put down in such an extremely stressful, traumatic manner without any compassion for her final moments.

So my wife and I have never owned pets before and we adopted our small mixed breed dog 3 years ago. He is the best dog and he is truly a member of our family. We searched high and low and went to at least 5 different vets. Not for anything major, but for routine stuff like shots, preventative flea treatment, dental checks, etc... This place is the place. Dr. Kurtz and Dr. Hopkins are awesome. They really really know their stuff and truly care. Prices are extremely reasonable and the clinic is open 7 days a week. Really, not much more you can ask for or want from a vet. Highly recommended.

Love them - we've been patients for 25 years and they've always taken great care of our many pets. We see Dr. Hopkins who is extremely knowledgable and compassionate - and a great surgeon! They are all very approachable and we have always had a positive experience - even when it was the "end" of our pet's journey.

I LOVE this clinic! They came highly recommended by my neighbours and just getting two puppies I had been to two other vets and these guys have the fairest rates by far, the staff is great, and I was touched when the vet called to check up on my dog who has kennel cough! LOVE them

The majority of the population these days are becoming more aware of the quality of these types of dog foods. It's like eating McDonalds every day of your life! Even though their prices were very reasonable, I'd rather pay the extra money for a veterinarian that knows what he/she's talking about."

It's like eating McDonalds every day! Right away I knew that this veterinarian was NOT knowledgeable at all. Definitely will not be going back. Even though their prices were very reasonable, i'd rather pay the extra money for a veterinarian that knows what he/she's talking about.

I came here on a reccomdation from a friend after not being happy with the care at eagle ridge. I took one visit and one phone call to solve the problem that i had paid for test after test for at eagle ridge. The solution was so simple it asstounded me, and was found because they took half an hour,over the phone,to discuss recents changes that may have triggered the issue. They are absolutley amazing and truly care. A vet that actually calls you back and discusses things to help you solve any problems! I am very impressed with the seperate doors for cats and dogs to cut down the animals stress when visiting! I was also quite impressed when i called about one of our cats who is basically a big ball of fluff. She gets so hot in the summer that we get her shaved,when i called in March to ask about it as her trail of fur through the house was our of control,they were quick to say no, its too cold! They always thinking of the animal first! Highly reccomended!!!

I have two bad circumstances with 2 of my cats,The staff if unorganzed and unprofessional/unknowleable. My opinion is they are more interested in the mnoey than the welfare of the animal. Do No Go Here.

Great with the animals, caring and kind. Prices in the mid range. However, they know what they`re doing. After an estiamte of $300 plous, for an operation for a cat fight wound, I went to Burquitlam vets. I got antibiotics, cleansing soap and the visit...c ost about $55. I go there all the time now.

Some reception staff not very aware of triage, I waited with my dying cat for five minutes before they listened and quickly got the vet. The vets were amazing and made a very difficult time easier for me. Decent supply of diagnostic equipment on site. Always on time and all staff has been excellent with my dogs. Minor issues with my fractious cat (I asked to book an extended appointment and was denied - we went over the time limit because he really is difficult to handle). Overall, a decent clinic that I feel comfortable taking dogs and cats to.
