I took my dog in for x-rays because she had pain in one of her hind legs. The vet showed me her x-rays, and although she stressed that she was not a radiologist and we wouldn't know for sure until they was reviewed by one, she was almost certain it was cancer. She showed me exactly why she had come to that conclusion. Even though she still kept saying that she was not a radiologist, she proceeded to tell me that when her own pet had x-rays like this, they had to put her down. Luckily for us, after a stressful night, we found out that it was not cancer.
To add insult to injury, the vet offered me a few days worth of painkillers. I accepted, thinking she was giving me samples. When I got home, the vet called to tell me that I owed them $90 for the handful of painkillers I had left without paying for. I told them I would not have walked out with them had it been explained to me that they cost so much, but they did not care.
This vet treats you like a wallet, not a person.

I went here for the first time in January 2014 because my cat had a skin condition. I agree with what others have already said. The people at the front desk and the nurse are very nice. However the doctor didn't even look at my cat and launched into a routinary explanation of why my cat would need more tests in order to determine anything. $80.00 down the drain. He did not even look at the cat. They did not inspire any trust in me, I definitely did not get my money's worth, they did absolutely nothing except kindly offer to take more money from me in order to do tests. I wouldn't go back here and I wouldn't recommend it. Being nice is not enough and it's definitely not worth my time or my money.

To be honest it was a little difficult to find a vet for my kitten. Reviews for animal hopsitals around my area are all over the place, and I didn't know what to think. Thankfully, right before I had made my mind up and picked one, I saw a "suggested" area that linked me to Queen West. I made an appointment that same day, and I'm incredibly happy. Receptionists are incredibly friendly, the hopsital is nice and cozy, not like many cold and clinical vets (or even doctors) I've been to before.
You can really tell they just love animals as much as you love your furry friend. I loved that talked to me calmly about suggested procedures and give you the opportunity to decide whether you'd want to go through with them or not- They do not force anything upon you or make you feel guilty for not running certain tests that might not entirely be necessary (as I've heard many other vets seem to do)
Completely happy with this vet!

Excellent! If you want to receive the same level of care and concern you feel your pets deserve, go to Queen West or Dundas West Animal Hospital (sister practice). The clinic is run very efficiently and ALL staff members I've dealt with are fully competent, well-trained people people who sincerely care about the welfare of you and your pet. Any time I’ve called with a concern, the front line staff are polite, patient and compassionate - if they can’t address the concern, they'll get back to you. If your forever friend isn't feeling well, the clinic will follow up whether or not you had to makan appointment. I’m also impressed by the amount of autonomy given to the vet techs; they take a very active role in recording information and performing preliminary procedures. My only concern is that it reduces the amount of time spent with the doctor and sometimes, I forget to ask all the questions I had. That said, I recommend this clinic to anyone I'm chatting wtih. 10 out of 10!

I took my puppy to this place the first vet was great the next vet told me I was cleaning her ears too often and to only clean them every two weeks well at the end of the two weeks my dogs ears were a mess. They refused to do a heartworm test before giving her the preventative medicine which could have been deadly. When I took my 5 month old puppy in for blood work before her spaying the vet was horrible! He took her into some room and would not allow me to go in with her then he storms out and says my dog is the worst creature he has ever seen and should be put down! When I got her home is when I noticed her belly and the inside of her leg had really bad clipper burn! This vets office is horrible!

The front desk staff were always cheerful and friendly, and the vet assistants were always very kind. Usually if you showed up on time for your appointment you'd have to wait 15-20 minutes to be seen by the vet, although sometimes it was quicker (seemed to depend who was the 'on-duty' vet for the day). Most of the vets at the clinic are quite good--but as we continued to use the clinic we were consistently disappointed with Dr. Folosea and had much better experiences with any of the practice's other vets. Things started going downhill when they called us to arrange a "free" follow-up visit to an injury our cat had sustained--he was healing well, but we figured since we were assured there was no charge, we'd make sure everything was fine... Well, that was $60 and taxes for the visit . They missed diagnosing another injury, and never followed up for any "annual care reminders" or similar... We switched vets, and are much happier now.

These vets are amazing! They have accurately and compassionately helped us care for our dog who battles a # of issues. We would never think of going anywhere else. No unnecessary treatments/tests. Honest and trustworthy care for past 6 years at both locations. A special shout out to Dr. Bainbridge and Dr. Fisher for their expertise and great bed-side manner. I have not experienced any scheduling conflicts as I've read in the other reviews. They have always accommodated us and been on time etc. Best vets for us by far. We had tried another vet practice first and were very disappointed and felt it was a money grab and it's the opposite experience with Queen West/Dundas West.

Just wanted to say that Dr. Paula Fisher is absolutely wonderful. We decided to put our cat to sleep & she & her staff were very accommodating & compassionate. Queen West sent us a very nice card & also donated to the Ontario Vet Association in our cat's name. Their knowledge & friendly customer service is by far the best in the city.

The reception staff is pleasant so are the vets. The issue is they seem to have a lack of communicating with each other specifically between the vet and the receptionist. I was also very disappointed with one of the vets who misdiagnosed my Pomeranian. My pom has a serious skin disease diagnosed by another vet at another clinic. The vet at Queen St said it was my dog chewing his fur- ah no! This clinic is also very expensive and they always seem to want to take another test to test the last test. Costly to say the least- and nothing gets resolved or diagnosed. It was so bad at one point that I had gone in every week for 4 weeks and nothing got solved with my dog's cough. 4 visits? the last visit i refused to pay- it was 125.00 each visit not including the medication. Nice staff but lack of knowledge and experience. I do not feel confident with them.

I brought my 7 yr old cat who had suddenly stopped eating to Queen West and saw Dr Chong. She was very knowledgeable, compassionate and kind. Unfortunately, he ended up having a very aggressive kind of lymphoma and I had to let him go 3 months later. But I feel Dr Chong was compassionate, honest and helpful throughout such a terribly painful experience. I spent some time there (my angel had to spend 3 days and nights there) and the staff were very kind and seemed to genuinely care for all the animals, and the facilities are good. It is very expensive though-even meds were 10x more than at the Vet Emergency Clinic! That was my only experience there though, but I just wanted to offer a different perspective on Dr Chong.

Queen West Animal Hospital is amazing. The people who complain about them being overbooked and rescheduling don't understand that they are THIS BUSY for a reason! Their vets are compassionate, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Both Dr. Bainbridge and Dr. Chong have dealt with my aggressive Shar Pei, and both have done an EXCELLENT job with her. I have had 3 vets tell me they wont work with my dog because she is so fearfully aggressive when it comes to medical clinics. Dr Bainbridge and his staff have always found a creative way to work with her, and helped her when she has been sick. I really don't know what we would do without them. As for price, Compared to 2 other vets in Toronto and 1 in London On, Queen West has been the cheapest. I really appreciate all they have done for Charlie (my shar pei) and will be a faithful client as long as I live in Toronto.

I love this vet! I've tried many clinics in the city and this is the best. They give me all the info and answer all my questions, never trying to upsell or gouge me. I highly recommend them.

Not the best, certainly not the worst. I have been going to this vet for 10 years with number of different pets. I don't want to totally a sign blame, to them for death of two cats. Certainly they did not cause their illnesses. But I do feel that they did somewhat drop the ball by not being more aggressive with early treatment and diagnosis. The first time I could see as just being human error, but a second time... I start to wonder if there is a pattern emerging. In any event I found them to be of no help in a more recent veterinary crisis and as a result I have found much better Veterinary practice. I now know to expect better then what they offer and my pets will no longer be going to Queen West.

My biggest complaint about this vet clinic is their lack of customer service. Let me correct that - they give great service to their celebrity clients but for the rest of us John and Jane Does forget it. For us Does, we get pushed aside, rescheduled, delayed and made to feel unimportant. I guess that bit of TV time has gone straight to their heads. Perhaps they feel they don't need the business from us "little" people anymore.

People don't tend to write reviews unless they have something BAD to say - 8 people wrote a review because they had a bad experience. But I know dozens of people who take their pets to QW because they really are FANTASTIC at what they do. I have been taking my dogs to QW for 5 years now and have had zero issue with scheduling, surgeries, aftercare, etc. I know when I have to leave one of my dogs there for a procedure that they are in great, caring hands. There are many vets in much closer proximity to where I live, yet I take my dogs the extra distance to QW - because I TRUST them 100% with the care of my pets.

Took our cat in to get spayed - we call to check in after the surgery was done - they said everything was fine. when we pick her up they tell us there was actually a complication, somethign "went wrong" during the operation and that we now need to monitor her. AMAZING. Your vet is not only questionable in terms of ability, but LYING to your customers about something so serious. We're considering legal action.

I have mix feeling abt this clinic. they charge crazy prices but do have a great facility. my nightmare was really with DR. CHONG. I took my dog in for a dental clean up because she had very bad breath. I received a call from the technician in the middle of the day telling me that my dog probably need couple of extractions whihc i totally understand. so they re-qoute me at $400 instead of original quote of $150 for cleaning. when they called me to pick up my dog, the technician informed me they actaully extracted 19 of her teeth! the doctor never even bother to consult with me, i mean 19 teeth extracted on a 10 year old dog.... and my bill was $1200!!!! when i picked my dog, the doctor had left already. worst experience ever. I complianed and complianed.... until this day, i havn't recieve a phone call/meeting from DR CHONG! avoid this doctor if u really have to go here.

Very rude! I was thinking of switching vets - as my vet is a bit out of the way. i walked in on a Saturday, they were rude, unfriendly. My current vet clinic - Burloak Animal - is incredible!!! So much care - definitely worth the drive and definitely not switching.

After reading the other reviews, I figured all this miss-scheduling must be all a coincidence, until they did it to me. I scheduled my dog for a neutering on a friday, and told my dog-sitter he could take the day off. Also, I took the ENTIRE week off work so that I could stay home with him. On wednesday night (2 days before the surgery) they called and told me that they don't do surgeries on fridays. So in the end, I lost a week of work, had to quickly hire a new dog sitter for one day, and reschedule all this for another time, because of these idiots. Also, before the surgery, they needed to see the dog to check his weight, see proof off all his vaccinations, which (for some reason) cost me $70. I would suggest going to a different vet.

We just adopted a 2 yr old dog with an eye condition and were looking for a vet in the area. This clinic was the closest. What a mistake it was! First our scheduled appointment (for which I took a day off work) was postponed to a later hour, then when we showed up on time the vet couldn't see us due to an emergency. A few minutes later the 'emergency' walked in, in the form of a TV 'personality'. When we did see the vet, she told us that our dog's eye problem (overgrown eyelides on both top and bottom) was easy to fix, but no guarantees can be made what it would look like later. We were also quite uncomfortable once the vet reluctantly told us that she has probably done a handful of these in her lifetime.Thankfully, we went to get a second opinion from a specialist. Needless to say he has never seen an eye, such as our dogs in his 40 years of practice. He was so upset with the Queen West vet assessment, that he had called them to question their judgement.

Brought my senior cat here when she suddenly lost use of his legs, had laboured breathing and generally seemed to have lost the will to live. She was quite old and when told they could do surgery that "may or may not" help her which would cost over $2000, I asked if instead she could be put down. Being a student and seeing as she lived a long happy life, it seemed the most humane as I couldn't afford the surgery (esp. if it only "may" work). The vet refused and told me my only option if I could not pay was to surrender her to the humane society without being able to re-adopt. Suffice it to say I left in tears, after essentially being made feel like I was a horrible person. I chose to get a second opinion and without question the second Vet advised that I put her to sleep. My cat spent an additional day in pain and almost was sent to live the rest of her life either in surgery or in a cage at the human society because of poor advice given by this vet.

Staff were disorganized, booked my appointment during their staff meeting after I took the day off work. When I showed up for the second appointment they told me I already missed it, but then found it half an hour later. The vet was nice but my introduction to their business left me feeling very guarded and I would not leave any animal there without my complete supervision. They tried to print me off bills for samples that I did not order and demanded my visa number. The also gave me three 'potential' bills for things that I 'could' do for my cat. She is perfectly healthy but they tried to convince me to have a tooth extraction (over $500) that she didn't even need.

The waiting room was usually30. packed, with cats having to wait next to unruly large dogs. My cat presented with symptoms consistent with heart issues, which were undiagnosed after several visits. He underwent dental surgery, and within the week threw a clot. We spent $ 1000.00+ on his dental work(which in retrospect never should have been performed, as his heart issues were obvious even to the vet tech who asked questions like "Does he always breathe like that ?" --I didn't know anything about heart issues at the time.) Metacam(oral) was used as a post surgical pain medication, then after he threw the clot. He came through the emergency treatment at the VEC, then began to decline. I questioned his Queen W.vet if he might be having trouble with the Metacam, which he denied, denied, denied. In retrospect I believe that this drug induced Acute Renal Failure. I curse the slippery slope of bad vets that happened to my cat, and made his last days miserable.
