This place is an absolute NIGHTMARE!!!! I am still in shock and appalled at how NASTY the "Doctor" was and I use that term very very loosely because he is no doctor let alone a man. He screamed at me because I asked him what was the procedure for my cats surgery???? He went off the handle, literally for no reason. I strongly believe he needs to be stripped of his license and should not come hundreds, no thousands of feet from another animal let alone humans. He was completely unprofessional and very out of line and very veryyyyy disrespectful.

THIS VET IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I went there with my dog because he was having trouble pooping, the vet gave him something and that night, my dog died. WORST VET EVER.

I would recommend a sanitation worker go pay the doctor a visit. The smell, as soon as you enter is putrid. I was double-charged for medication and would not recommend this vet to anyone. Poor hygiene and poor communication with patient's owners.

I'm certified vet tech and I worked there right before doing my certification. I only stayed there that long because there was noone there to care for the pets in kennel. Many times I was only tech working with 15 hospitalized animals. He's filthy, he wouldn't get us vacuum to clean the hospital so we had to sweep it. Hair were flying all over the place. He cleaned his surgical instruments in just water which doesn't remove bacteria and debris. People go to him because he's cheap and not because he is good. With ferrets, most of them that come with a problem have adrenal issues so it was only wild guess. He's guessing half of the time and hoping for the best. He never scrubbed hands properly before surgery and we had few patients dying from infection. I reported him to the board but this didn't help. He has unqualified stuff because noone would work for minimum wage and abuse. I'll pay more for wellbeing of my pets and will drive far just to save them but I will never go there.

I have been taking my pet to Dr M for the past 8 years. Each time I visit, although I do have to wait a while, I am educated and learn something new about the anatomy/health of my German Shepherd.
Pros:
The doctor IS experienced and very educated. He has seen the oddest cases of emergencies and has performed the most outrageous surgeries (and unlike what another reviewer said, the majority of them DO survive!). I know this because my neighbors have had parrots that couldn't lay eggs, and he'd facilitate the process. He's also performed C-sections on several dogs as well as cared for various bone injuries, and even car accident injuries (again - I know this because I see the animals on my block on a weekly basis that go to him). Additionally, I wouldn't call him "cheap" but he is reasonably priced.
Cons:
The place does smell and is small, and dirty. The staff aren't always the most professional and if you go on a weekend, you may wait for a long time before seeing the doctor

This doctor performed delicate tail surgery on my collie (she had a large tumor). Excellent surgeon. Saved her beautiful tail. Cleans pet's teeth for a fraction of the cost of other vets. They look great. The office is not great, lots of room for asthetic improvement. However, I have found him to be a compassionate and caring doctor. He will open his office at 3:00 am if the need arises. Most sent you to an extremely expensive emergency hospital. So, if you can get past the front office (they have painted but it is ridiculously small for the size of his clientele), he's a good doctor. If you have an early appointment, there is usually no problem. Later on in the day the wait could be 2-3 hours. He takes on too many unexpected emergencies. This man genuinely loves animals and they respond very positively. What's more important and comfy, over-priced office with an ok doctor or an excellent doctor who tells you the truth?

These are all true facts about this vet & facility: He has many SPCA cases against him dating back to 2005 to the present, also many Board of Health complaints,Lyndhurst board of health is there at least once a month to investigate complaints,he has several VMAcases against him,& also with the Better Business B. He has not 1 certified Vet Tech on his staff, their all untrained, young kids. His facility is very very dirty. Surgical instruments are not sterilzed properly & left out in the open, doesnt have the proper equipment for surgerys, out dated, his Bio-hazard containers are in major violtion, they should be enclosed & they are not, its like a regular open garbage can exposing all the needles & blood & airborne diseases, needles left out all over the counter, as well as vaccines that should be kept refridgerated.his customers mistake him for the Emergency Vet that is a block away from him & end up going to him by mistake. His prices are cheap but that doesnt make him a good vet! Run!

The hospital is DEFINITELY NOT The Ritz Carlton! His "staff consists of HIM and some college age kids who try to handle the many people waiting in the overcrowded waiting room. What a dumpy, looking facility. HOWEVER, Dr. Mecheal is definitely a kind, knowledgeable person. I only used his services for many feral kittens that I rescued and he was the ONLY vet who charged practically nothing for those babies in need. Also, I must say that his place is THE ONLY PLACE that handles emergencies for affordable prices. He doesn't take advantage of the situation and charge hundreds of dollars! Bravo to you, Dr. Mecheal for your compassion. You are a "diamond in the rough".-- It would be nice if you could take atleast ONE day off to paint and clean up the place a little, though. :o)

the worst, being in here is like being on the set of "Little Shop of Horrors". It's like a bad puppy mill in the back area and he's just absolutly filthy. The local 24 hour referal hospitals have had to clean up his surgical messes on dogs and cats often. He's a butcher.

There are both good and bad things about this vet. The good things: he is very reasonable prices, takes animals for emergencies, very intelligent and most of all saved my cat's life from a urinary tract infection that was blocked and he was able to stabelize my cat. Here's the bad stuff about Dr. Mecheal: 1)You will wait hours-guaranteed. 2) His staff is unfriendly, rude and unprofessional. 3) His office is a complete and utter paper mess, charts misplaced, etc. 4) His english is okay but it can be difficult to understand him. 5) MOST IMPORTANT: The treatment room isn't bad but the OPERATING ROOM is digusting! I walked by - have been there a few times and saw surgical instruments left on the O.R. table dried and bloody. the table was filthy and I would never let my pet have surgery in that place. The dr. is good at figuring out the problem but his office is a disgrace. I would rather spend the money then take a huge risk with my animals. Sorry Dr. Mechael..you need to do something.

I would not reccomend this vet. If the exam rooms are that filthy I can only imagine what the surgery & treatment rooms look like. I started out by telling myself I would only go there for vaccines since it's a very simple procedure (and his prices are so cheap). When I thought about it I decided not to go back because I didn't want to support someone who I beleive is not doing the right thing by the animals. I think he needs a visit from the heath dept and maybe even the spca. I hope he gets his act together and I pray no animals get hurt or abused.

This Dr. is the best. He is a compassionate and caring man that loves animal. The price is right & his diagnosis has been right on every time. The staff could be a little more professional and the office a little more originized but other than that I would recommend him to anyone!

This Vet is a god sent to all animals and there owners. This man lives and breaths his patients. He is open 24hrs a day. The man does not sleep! Yes his office is definitely not Oradell hospital but then neither are his prices but the treatment is a million times better. He treats all animals from birds to ferrets to the more common cats and dogs. He brought my cat back from the dead practically. He is the most amazing, knowledgeable and companionate Doctor. I don’t know what I would have done with out him. The wait to see him is very long but if you have an emergency he is always available. Words can not describe the gratitude I feel for this person and his staff. He is worth the wait. I will never go to another Vet. God bless Dr Mecheal.

I found him to be knowledgeable and he truly cares about animals. I was told that you can't talk to him. We had a lovely conversation and I didn't feel I was being rushed out even though he practices alone. I have heard from other people that they went to other vets and paid big bucks and they didn't solve their pet's problem. They said one visit to Dr. Mechael and all was solved. Okay, it's not the cleanest place but my gut tells me I'm doing the right thing. The main reason I switched was because the 6 vet place with the attitude problems - here's what happened. On St. Patrick's day my 11 year old cocker spaniel collapsed and had trouble breathing. I called the 6 vet place at 8:20 a.m. and explained that it was an emegency. She said to bring her in at 11:00 a.m. To make a long story short I called back again and a different person told me to bring her in right away. However, I took a cab and she was DOA. Owner/vet could care less.

I have visited Dr. Mecheal on occasion, his lobby is always packed, he is under staffed & I too found the facility to be outdated & quite dirty. However, Dr M. took me in right away as I had an emergency, he was very knowledgable, caring & his prices were reasonable. I would see him again.....

Dr Michael is wonderful in an emergency, he provides 24 hour vet care for much cheaper than the emergency clinics. Well worth the money.
