I am shocked at the negative comment about this practice. We recently moved to the city and my sweet kitty became very ill, I was given them as a referrel and could not say enough wonderful things about this practice. We saw Dr. Julie Turkel and I was extremely emotional and crying, she was so compassionate to me and to sammy along with giving the proper evaluation, testing and diagnosis. The enitre staff could not have been nicer to me. They did everything possible for him but he had a terminal cancer that had no treatment. I was truly a basket case and on the end my little prince had to be put to sleep. This wonderful Doctor has called me several times to make sure that I am doing ok and said to call her anytime if I needed to talk. I am so thankful that Sammie had someone like Julie caring for him until the end. I would recomend this practice to anyone who adores their pets. DG.

Blum Animal Hospital is ranked as one of the best animal hospitals in the country and for good reason! The large staff all cares for animals to such an exceedingly high degree. The veterinarians are highly educated and are on the forefront of continuing education in such aspects as pain management. It is an AAHA accredited hospital which speaks for the quality care, facilities and safety of the hospital. Though Blum is borderline expensive but completely comparable to other chicagoland hospitals, you will be paying for the highest quality vet care and expertise. If there are delays, it is because they don't limit the time spent with clients like some other hospitals do. One visit you may wait a while, and the next time you may understand why - the veterinarians are there to help you in every way. The assistants handle the animals with care and keep the large hospital spotless! I would recommend Blum Animal Hospital to everyone!

I am stunned at the bad reviews. I have gone here for 4 years on a recommendation from a friend who has gone many more. Oprah takes her dogs here. Dr. Rubin (her doctor) is very well recognized. I have always had full confidence in the staff and doctors. I do wait a long time often (since it is so busy) and it is pricey but the north side of Chicago is. When I brought my dog in as an emrgency after a pitbull attack they were swift and supportive and saved his life. Dr. Rubin did the orthopedic part of the surgery himself and when I went in for a follow up and had a substitute for my usual doctor, he made a point to ask to see my dog too and then came in to the room to introduce himself. I am sorry they are not open at night because after surgery I had to shuttle my dog between Blum and the Emergency Clinic on my own and while he was full of tubes and upset. That is my biggest complaint but I knew they were not open evenings or Sundays. So-so convenience but quality care.

A completely negative experience from the minute I walked in the door until the minute I took my pet and left. Inexperienced, unprofessional, unknowledgeable are just a few adjectives that come to mind. Not to mention the amount you will pay for for an entriely horrible experince.

Despite bringing my dog in emergently, I was greeted with disgust that he had tartar on his 10 year old teeth. Since no staff watches the animals overnight, which they don't reveal unless asked, I am confident that bringing my dog home saved his life. The young female Vet was arrogant and spoke like a mall-rat. I will never go to Blum again. Their agenda is to make as much revenue as possible, or at least that is the feeling one is left with. Their diagnostic ability is very confusing. I was verbally insulted by a vet for asking educated questions. A totally ethically bankrupt group.

I was referred to this vet by another one, who did not have time to see my VERY sick pet rat. Even though Blum was booked full for the day they made time for me and my pet, since he was so sick. In the end my little guy had to be put to sleep, they took good care of him. Even though my little guy was only a rat they treated him as if he was a show dog. The entire staff was friendly and showed they truely cared for the animals, drying off wet dogs bodys with towels when they came in from the rain. I can not rememeber a time I have recieved such supeiror service from anyone or anywhere. I strongly recommend taking your pet here. I do not believe you will find a better vet. office anyhere.
