I was treated very poorly when during an appointment with my ill cat. The doctor I had acted very childish and while I disagreed with her she began to yell at me. She also more then once backed up her actions with simply "because thats what I was taught" would not give any actually reason for why she was choosing certain medicines or plans to correct my cats symptoms.

If you have an appointment for this clinic, they are an okay to vet to go to - nothing outstanding to make them stand out from other clinics. However, CAUTION!! they do NOT take emergency appointments; they send you to Iowa State University Vet. Clinic that costs an additional fairly expensive fee for their services for the initial visit plus whatever other expenses arise. My situation: we called the Ames Pet Hospital during business hours & were turned away due to their lack of interest in taking in my dog who was in an emergency situation and were told to go to the ISU Clinic instead. I am beyond appalled by this - I have never had a vet be so disinterested before.

I had two dogs and cats. After going to a couple of clinics in Ames and being disappointed with service, professionalism, etc. I was pleased to finally find an clinic that had it all. Ames Pet Hospital has knowledgable doctors who provide excellent service and care for their patients. The receptionists are helpful and friendly and truly care about your visit.
