I brought my best friend Harley here for a simple knee surgery for a torn ACL at All creatures animal hospital in Amelia and I had to have him euthanized as an end result. They said he need to stay an extra night after the surgery because he was in pain. Well I got him home the next day and I stayed up with him all night but the next morning he seemed to be worse. I realized he had trouble breathing. I called and told them and begged them to see him and finally I got him in at 4 pm They made me wait in the waiting room for 40 minutes while they sent through healthy dogs while my pet laid their on the floor dying.
When he finally got to see the Vet I was told he was in critical condition and need 24 hr. care but they had no one there at night. Had I known this before I would have not taken him there for surgery to be left in a crate for two nights and not be cared for and to suffer. I took him to Med Vets in Oakley and was told he had fluid around his lungs and their was nothing the

3 locations, great wellness plans. Can't compare to other local facilities.

Do not go to this vet. Don't even consider it. Not even for emergencies. They are only in the business for the money. The office is completely unorganized and the staff never has any idea of what is going on. Dr. Dan Meakin is completely incompetent as well. He spayed two of my rescued rats and they both died. The initial phone call told us that the rats were doing fine... Then we showed up a few hours later to pick them up and we ended up having to wait in the payment area for 45 minutes before a DIFFERENT doctor came out to tell us that the rats had died. No one called us to tell us what happened. The reason they died is that he used too much anesthetic and is too incompetent to know the limit.

They want everyone to pay through the nose for office calls if they can get away with it. They are money grubbers.

I have been taking all my pets (and I have many) to All Creatures for 15 years and have utilized just about every service they offer from vet care to boarding to training. I could not be happier with the entire staff from the caring and efficient front office to the surgery techs and the doctors. They have always been there and go the extra mile even when I have come to them in need of emergency care at odd hours of the day. The facility is clean and state of the art. Even if I have a bit of a wait on occasion, I know I will get dedicated and excellent care ALL the time, and don't mind as they are a vet clinic and often getting several emergencies a day that require immediate attention.

I made the mistake of taking a dog we found on our doorstep to All Creatures. The dog ended up passing away at the 2nd vet we went to after poor treatment at All Creatures. From the incompitent staff to the rude doctor, I would never recommend them to anyone. If you care about your pet, take them to a vet that still cares about animals, not just the money.

I recently went to the Everything Pet Expo and listened in to Dr.Meakins****ar about how to care for exotic pets. Infront of all the spectators was a rat cage and a mouse cage. They were the most discusting cages I have ever seen. The walls were splatted with urine and tufts of hair in the bars. All will he lectures over how to care for the pets.

My family just had to take our dog here for emergency surgery because our vet was not open at the time, and first off the receptionist was very rude. Dr. Meakin has NO personality..all they care about is getting there $ up front, which we had no problem doing. We ended up paying $1,700 for the surgeryt and "care". They sent us home with really no instuctions, and was again RUDE. Well we had him home for two days when we noticed a piece of his insides were hanging out of the wound. We called them and they first told us to hold and they would talk to a doctor, then came back on the line and said there was no doctor available. Talk about crappy. Especially since we had drove an hour everyday to go back and forth to see our dog. We ended up having to take him to an emergency clinic in cincinnati to have the whole surgery done AGAIN because they MESSED UP the surgery. and there was infection due to it. So now our VERY LOVED dog is laying in another hospital because of what they did to him.

I've had nothing but good experiences at All Creatures. They are a "one stop shop" for all animal needs. They even have training classes for dogs! I've not experienced any problems with the staff. They have tended to hamsters and rats, which is something most vet practices don't. I am actually a bit of a drive away from All Creatures, but I don't hesitate to travel the extra distance to go to All Creatures over any other vet closer. They always follow up emergencies with a phone call, which is an added extra I appreciate. They seem to care for the animals, and the owners. The hospital/office is large and lovely. I'd recommend them for all animals, especially exotics.

All Creatures is one of those places you drive by and think "Wow, that place is huge! They must have all kinds of services for my pet!" You'd be right, but an overwhelming percentage of the staff is, for lack of a better word, incompetent. I was a long time client of this hospital, but after a recent visit, I've now switched. Upon arrival, I signed in and sat down with my dog in the spacious waiting area. Here, I heard two of the receptionists talking amongst themselves about one of their recent sexual conquests with a guy, not her husband, I also heard. Professional, right? This is right within earshot of the waiting room. Once I got into the exam room, everything seemed fine. Dr. Meakin is, himself, an excellent vet, but his staff is ruining the business. I have heard from others who have experienced everything from rudeness to being given incorrect answers to questions by the reception staff who are simply too lazy to walk to the back and find a doctor. I'll not be back.
