Me and my family liked and trusted Dr. Plotnick, we felt he had alot of expertise and experience. Unfortunatly our loving cat suffered and died because of his miscare-- meds and he was not honest about the poor health of the cat, advised cat was well when should have been put to sleep-to do tests-make money. Cat died a horrible death. And my family has to live with the heartbreak in our choice in trusting Dr. Plotnick!

Dr.Plotnick made two errors in diagnosing and treating my cat. I found it hard to believe that could happen due to his experience and reputation. He is expensive and very sales oriented - recommending this product or that product and then billing you for it without actually asking whether you wanted to purchase it. On the plus side, his staff was very pleasant. Dr. Plotnick himself was pleasant enough - he thoroughly explained my cat's medical conditions and answered all questions respectully but his bedside manner with my cat could have been better. His vet techs were much more gentle and spoke to my cat gently and that seemed to sooth my cat as she was terrified of being in a vet's office. I hate writing negative reviews but I know that I search the internet and read reviews and rely on those reviews when making a decision about whether to use a service provider or whether to buy a product.

Dr. Plotnick and his wonderful staff saved my cat's life. Ten year old-Sammie lost weight and vomited constantly so I took him to Manhattan Cat. After a sonogram Sammie was diagnosed with advanced Lymphoma, normally a death sentence. The doctor recommended chemo (huh?) so we started a regimen of IV hook-ups every three weeks. Amazingly, my kitty immediately stopped vomiting and started eating a great deal. He continued to do great and put on a great deal of weight. After a year, I decided to stop the chemo and hope for the best. Sammie lived three years beyond that until the cancer returned. Now long term remission like this is very, very rare, a joy for all of us to celebrate.. Throughout I received nothing but support and kindness from these good people. Yes, high NYC prices but the very best veterinarian care I've ever experience in 25 years of owning pets.

We made an appointment with Dr. Plotnick for a $65 check-up for our cat. When we arrived, he scared us into giving our little cat 5 different shots (urine test, blood test, Feline Leukemia, Feline AIDS, and Rabies) by saying that if we didn't give her them, and she bit or scratched one of our house guests (she's strictly indoors), her head would be cut off and examined by the authorities! Our $65 fee quickly turned into a $400 over-vaccinated nightmare! Our cat developed allergies afterward, wouldn't eat and limped for days, and has never been the same. That was several years ago. We will never forgive him or his staff. He even had the nerve to try to push on us oral antibiotics (before any test results came back), which we promptly returned and demanded a refund for. Watch your wallet; protect your cats from Manhattan Cat Specialists. You've been warned.

***I have had cats for many years and MCS is by far the best veterenary practice I have ever used. Because I ahered to the wellness plann they established for my cats, the beginnings of kidney deterioration in both cats were discovered early. By following Dr. Plotnicks recommendations my cats lived for years with no further deterioration. They did eveything they cold when one cat had a tragic accident and could not have been more compassionate when I had to euthanized the other cat - who lived to be 20 years old under their care. I recently adopted two playful, affectionate brothers from their window. Dr. Plotnick is exceptional and the entire staff is informed and caring. I can't imagine taking my cats anyplace else.

We brought our cat to Dr. Plotnick a few years ago and immediately changed vets after he was rough with the cat and seemed much more interested in flirting with me (even taking off his lab coat to reveal a muscle shirt) than in treating my cat properly. He not only charged substantially more than our current, best-ranked-in-the-city vet, but he tried to convince us that our cat needed to come in four times a year for checkups--'just because.'

I give Dr Plotnick an A+! One reason he's so fantastic, other than his devotion to cats, is that he's a board certified vet internist (ACVIM), not just DVM. Like human internists, vet internists do extra training and are skilled in diagnostics and equipped to deal with the many complex medical issues and diseases that can happen to animals. Feline kidney disease is a specialty of Dr. Plotnick. After losing one kitty to kidney disease, I brought my 16 yr Burmese to him 2 yrs ago when she was suffering with it. He has it totally under control now. Her last blood work showed barely any deterioration over last year and at 18 yrs now she's perky as can be! Vet internists are trained in disease prevention and health maintenance. So my kitty is on a program to slow down her kidney disease & ward off age-related issues; drug management of her hypertension, a special diet & supplements. With any luck she'll be around for a few more good years, thanks to Dr. Plotnick..

Dr. Arnold Plotnick is definitely the best veterinarian that has ever treated my cat. In 2008, I took my cat to my veterinarian because she was losing weight. The vet did some blood tests and every thing was normal except for something with the protein, which was high. That vet said we shoudl just "keep an eye on it". My cat continued to lose weight, so my vet said that it was probably her teeth. They were dirty, but I didn't think this was the problem. I took my cat to Arnold Plotnick for a second opinion. He was worried about the high protein so he did a special test on the blood, and the high protein turned out to be due to a rare type of cancer called multiple myeloma. A bone marrow test confirmed the cancer. She is now receiving medicine for it and is doing great. She gained back two pounds already. I hate to think that she might be dead from cancer if I hadnt taken her to his hospital.

I am astounded by the adoring press coverage that Dr. Plotnick receives. He misdiagnosed my cat's renal disease, even though the blood tests showed urea nitrogen, creatinine and sodium as being abnormally high. My cat was vomiting, and had lost weight. I questioned him about these results, but he insisted my cat did not have renal disease, she was simply dehydrated. Dr. Plotnick dismissed us with prescription diet food, and no follow up - not even an official diagnosis. He had no clue. Two vets (outside of NY) told me that the blood results and symptoms pointed to renal disease. Now she is being treated properly; however, her life will be shorter because Dr. Plotnick failed to diagnose this disease in time.

I have no reservations about giving Dr. Plotnick and the caring staff at Manhattan Cats the highest possible rating. Dr. Plotnick is thorough, compassionate, and in tune with the latest feline treatments. The facility is spotless and I have full confidence that when I have to leave my cats for the day that they will get the best care. Dr. Plotnick does excellent dental work and is great for cats with renal insufficiency. I have brought two cats for treatment at his office and have had excellent results both times for serious issues. They dispense medications in house and have useful cat products and prescription diets for sale. This is the kind of small business NYC residents need to support. An outstanding service to the community. Stop in and say hello if you are on 76th St, just west of Broadway.

I adopted two shelter kittens five years ago and one of them has had considerable health problems. Dr. Plotnick and his staff have been superb, quite responsive, and very professional. They are attentive and always available by phone when I have questions. I do not understand the negative post above. This is not the experience I have had with Dr. Plotnick. I would recommend him without reservation for his compassionate and intelligent care of my two cats.

I just transfered services from another vet to Dr. Plotnick and I couldn't be more happier. He is very professional and his adoration for cats really show. He made personalized calls to check on my kitty who is dealing with FLUTD, even on a Sunday! His staff are very friendly and the facility is exceptionally clean. My kitty is still a kitten and I am at so glad to have found a caring vet that will be taking care of her for many more years to come.

Dr. Plotnick used to be the VP of the ASPCA and he is a nationally recognized authority on feline veterinary medicine. I have been bringing my 5 cats to Dr. Plotnick for 2 years now, and there is no other vet I'd trust more than him. His office staff are beyond professional, the office is peaceful and quiet for your cats' comfort, and it is clean, clean, clean. Although his services are a bit more expensive than other places, his personalized service and his obvious adoration for cats is completely worth it. You couldn't ask for a more compassionate, caring vet to take care of your cats.
