This clinic must be the most expensive in the west Chicago suburbs. The vets are competent, however, don't let the laid back quiet atmosphere fool you. The practice owner is all MBA: maximize revenue&profit first. Customer needs&value place last. Drugs are dispensed at 3x or more than they can be found at local pharmacies--and they fight you if asked for a prescription. Their objective is to make you think your pet is a child and charge accordingly; up sell pressure is subtle and ever present and, if you don't go for it, you're made to feel as though you are abusing your pet. Their fee increases have outpaced inflation. I always left feeling like I'd be hosed. They did not like to be questioned on rates or recommendations, never really attempted to work with us, and ultimately told us to go elsewhere--which, of course, we did. It is all about marketing and money for Abbeywood (and, unfortunately, too many Naperville vets): http://veterinarybusiness.dvm360.com/....

My cat was misdiagnosed as having pancreatitis and the vet techs suggested an "old-school" way of addressing it instead of trying new thing or running more tests. My cat now has an inoperable tumor on his liver that could have been found earlier and treated. Instead they opted to not run additional tests and now I have a dying cat. If you love your animal - don't take them here.
