Click to report rating    12/7/22   2     2     2     2   We used to take our pets here but they sold to Corporate and ever since now they're money hungry. Horrible experience. A couple of the new Drs have bad attitudes as well. The ownership still says private but they aren't private. Just ask who owns them... RID: 70525
Click to report rating    3/6/15   1     2     1     1   I had to rush my 19 year old cat to this clinic due to pancreatitis. I live 1.5 hours away from the clinic as we have no emerg clinic near where I live. This was THE WORST veterinary experience I've ever had. HORRIBLE! Wait time to see the vet were 3-5 HOURS. Vet seemed barely competent. It took them 45 MINUTES just to dispense some medication before I could leave. One man had been put in an exam room and left there for THREE HOURS with his dog. He finally came out, livid, and said if the vet doesn't come in 10 min he's leaving. The vet finally saw him 30 min later. By the time they took blood samples and dispensed his dog's meds, he'd been there 6 hours! Worse than human hospitals! I will never ever set foot in that clinic as long as I live. And I've had four friends in Ottawa say that they had horrible experiences and will never, ever go back. My recommendation, is to avoid this clinic. There is another option in Ottawa and I have used it twice before. Wish I'd gone there this time RID: 56172

Click to report rating    7/24/09   1     3     2     1   Over 2 years, I brought my Chi in for a consistent, honking cough. Each time the staff would test him for something new, after paying around $300 for a specialized test, we would be told our dog was healthy and just needed to shed weight. My husband and I had to euthanize our dog due to his trachea collapsing. The emergency hospital we took him to knew right away what was causing his distress. After speaking with the veterinarian we learned that collapsed trachea is a common problem with small dogs, and Chihuahuas are a high risk. We were also informed that the cough and his lack of being able to exercise should have been a significant sign to any experienced veterinarian. This could have been treated earlier. I will no longer be taking any of my pets to Alta Vista. I do not recommend this vet to ANYONE. RID: 13594
Click to report rating    8/13/07   5     5     5     4   This is one of the cleanest and nicest facilities I have been to. The staff has always been very efficient. I have boarded my cat and dogs and have been very pleased with their services. Dr. Jill Patt has been the Vet. I would recommned them to anyone. RID: 5570

5/16/07   5     5     4     4   i've been taking pets here off and on since 1977. i like their late operating hours without a surcharge. other than they haven't been very available for my needs the last 2 times i called them, they have always been good. they don't gouge un-necessary money, allow me to do home treatments, and have been very kind. they scheduled my sick bullfrog, but cancelled because a frog vet wasn't available. they were kind when my giant bunny died in their arms because of a massive lung growth. vet and techs cried with me. they fixed my cat who had his leg ripped out of his hip by a dog without expensive surgery. they sent me home with instructions to heal a cat with a horrible puncture wound on his leg.(he recovered). they wouldn't do the free check on my pound puppy. they couldn't schedule my dying of valley fever (yes, he was on meds from another vet) dog who needed putting down right away. nobody is perfect, and for the most part they have come through for me. i'll still call them for help.
