Left my mare and foal in a stall inside their building in a stall with no windows or outdoor exposure for 16 days. She was there to be bred. When she stressed and collided they could not find my contact info. Called me at 6pm. She was dead due to intestinal rupture by 9:30pm. In that time I requested they be turned out not knowing they don't turn horses out as a common practice. The condition I found her in was shocking to me, a thirty year equine professional. She could not be turned out. Because she could not walk. She was glistening in a stress induced lather with every vein pumped up. Leaning in the stocks for support, shaking all over. Foal wandering around while the vet and 3 techs had been giving her a 15 liter of fluids for over 2 hours. She fell over dead and the vet tried to euthanize her after she was already dead. He then did autopsy after I declined it. I left. Husband and I came back, walked in as he just finished cutting her open.
