In comparison to other vet hospitals in the area, the prices are good, especially for the quality you get. I've been bringing my sick kitty here for about six months and the staff is extremely knowledgeable and they genuinely care about us. I love how good the doctors are about taking their time to explain the problems my cat is having and they really listen to my concerns. They have payment options for people like me who need them which really helps me do everything that I can to help my best furry friend. I have been to many vets but I haven't ever had an experience this great! Thank you Westgate!!!

Very experienced staff of veterinarians, we have gone to this clinic for 19 years. But their prices are extremely high, and they are not willing to compromise on their fees or even fill prescriptions with generic meds. We are getting a new puppy and we can no longer afford the price of their services. It is for this reason and this reason alone that they will no longer be our vet.

My cat was cared for kidney disease by a very good doctor there for a year and a half. Same doctor-we were happy. My cat had gotten a bit worse and at a critical point in treatment, a new vet was on the case. This other vet, who was not familiar with my cat at all, recommended hospitalization. We were devastated and called the doctor who was treating our cat for the last year and a half. We were advised that she was out of the office for four days. We decided to take the advise of the "new" vet and we took our cat in for hospitalization. Our beloved cat got much worse and 2 days later, we had to put her down. We never heard back from our original vet about this turn of events. Bottom line: We feel that the unfamiliar vet over-reacted and rushed to do an unsuccessful and expensive treatment that caused our cat to go into shock and die. She DID have kidney disease, but was acting pretty much normal before we took her in.

I would venture to say that Westgate is the best animal clinic in the Twin Cities..That said,a question emerges..Does one have to pay exhorbitant fees for high qulity service?? For many, Westgate is prohibitive..and perhaps that's the philosopy of the clinic..provide top of the line services only to those willing to pay or who can afford it..Writing this assessment is difficult; I have the ultimate respect for Westgate's doctors and staff... My only way to adapt to this high cost vet policy is to use Westgate's services for urgent care situations, which I have done many times and continue to do..I prefer, ofcourse to have just one Vet... Westgate's fee shcedule makes this impossible for a multiple pet owner such as myself...Unfortunatley, this is financially prohibitive.. I only wish Westgate would show a little mercy in their office call charges, routine stuff, shots,etc...

Every vet we have had, has taken time to exam, explain and discuss. They include my daughter and explain to her in terms she can understand, very complete and detailed. Costly, but feel that we are getting great, up-to-date information about our dog.
