I love the two vets who have seen my dog. They both take the time to explain and answer questions. They are gentle and obviously care for the animals' best interest. Dr. Leah and Dr. Mrs. Gernon and definitely the vet tech staff are highly recommended.

I brought my cat to Magazine Street and they insisted on sedating him to bathe him. So, he was never bathed there. For the exams, they wrapped him anytime they got near him. He's a very sedate cat, and does not bite (no teeth, anyway)or scratch (he's declawed). I don't know what they thought he would do to them. Having never had a cat before him, I had no idea it could be another way. It is also very difficult to park at their office. I always had a wait when I went to the office. Staff is pretty consistently rude and act like they are doing you a favor by allowing you to visit their facility. They DO do a lot of work with rescues, so I guess they get bonus points for that.

While I liked Dr. Amy, the staff is positively rude. They act like they are doing you a favor by waiting on you. My dog had her teeth cleaned last fall. I received a call at work from a total stranger saying that she was extracting two teeth. I had been told that no extractions were necessary. When I picked her up, she had not been taken outside at all during the day and immediately had an explosive bout of diarrhea. She then peed for a good two minutes. I miss Nancy Nathan at Prytania Vet. If she would come back to N.O., I would leave this practice. I may leave it anyway.

There is a new vet there, Dr. Amy, and I really think she is excellent. I had a very sick 20 year old cat and Dr. Amy was very compassionate and realistic. I have been going to that vet (1 dog, 4 cats) since Dr. Klemitas owned it and they have never been anything except great.

I've used this vet for awhile and will only see Scott Gernon, not his partner (his wife). Scott is pleasant and knowledgable and never tries to add onto your bill, but his partner is always looking for the upsell. Scott has directly contradicted her recommendations on the basis of cost a couple of times. The staff is usually friendly, but not always accurate or easy to deal with on the phone. They are much better in person.

This vet continued to call me and try to extract additional money from me after I dropped off a stray cat I'd captured to be neutered. I couldn't believe it! I was trying to do something good and he was taking advantage of my good heart.
