I had an appointment at 10:25 for my dog. It’s noon and I have yet to see a vet. They always say we had a lot of emergencies so we’re late. Well care about customer service. Never prompt service here. This place is prob great if you have a serious emergency but not for anything else unless you have lots of time on your hands!!!!

I was traveling and had a family member caring for our family dog. Our dog has been into the Falls road animal hospital in the past. - this was the dogs vet.. The dogs information and our information was in the system. Our family dog was very sick and was in need of medical care. Without any concern for the dog or even helping with and emergency issue the Falls Road hospital refused to help due to the fact I only had given the young family member a check in case of emergency. We could not be reached and the family member caring for the dog did not have cash or a credit card that evening.. This happend 12-23-2011. The next morning we got dog to a new vet... The dog was very sick and passed away. When the dog first went to Falls Road if treated she may have had a chance?. Christmas Morning we had to deal with the bad news of the family dogs death. My thought Is falls road only cares about $$$ not the animals it cares for. The service has never been great just the closet vet to the hous

This is the worst excuse for a veterinary hospital I have ever seen. They tried to charge me to put down my DEAD dog when I brought her body. Before I did this I knew I would never take any life animal there but now I know not to even entrust them with ethical care of a dead one.

It seems that most of the people complaining about Falls Rd are entireley missing the point of taking your pet to Falls Rd in the first place. Will it cost more? Yes, almost always, but that's because Falls Rd is much more thorough than most other vets. They don't take the "band-aid and a prayer" approach; instead, they DO run a lot of tests, and they DO take a lot of x-rays, and they DO practice preventive medicine. These things are expensive, no doubt, but they're all designed to benefit our pets. I totally appreciate that not everyone can afford this sort of care, but that doesn't mean that Falls Rd is "ripping you off" or "wasting your time." It just means that you should look for a vet whose services are more agreeable with your budget. If you want basic "patch-it-up and go" veterinary care, Falls Rd isn't the place for you. And I don't judge anyone for that. Falls Rd can definitely be expensive, but it's also the absolute best vet care available in Baltimore. My 3 dogs agree.

Brought 3 dogs in for the advertised reduced price spay/neuter. When I arrived they told me aboutquite a few extra charges. I elected to only get surgery on 2 of the dogs. I expected my bill to be $223- it was $355 when I came to pick them up. They claimed the female was in heat (she wasn't) which resulted in extra charges. From talking to other dissatisfied customers I've found that the ALWAYS say the females are in heat. I was also told that one dog needed eye surgery and was given an estimate of $1600-$2200. I had the surgery done the following week at my regular veternarian's for $500! Avoid Falls Road. Big, big ripoff.

I came to this vet for dental surgery for my cat, because my regular vet didn't provide dental care. I went to fall road animal hospital based on reviews that I read online.
I would not recommend this vet to anyone. The office staff was very rude, and very unhelpful. I only saw the vet once for my predental appointment 2 weeks prior and only for a few minutes. On the day of the procedure, I never saw her and very little post-op help was provided.
They didn't give me any information on how to feed my cat, when pain meds should be administered and gave no help or reassurance on how to care for my cat post-op. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this vet, the only reason I gave them a 2 was because I felt like the price was reasonable and they didn't try to "nickel and dime" me, but other then that I would never recommend anyone take their animal there, unless you don't mind terrible service, and would like your vet and/or vet staff to not care about your animal or its wellbeing.

I had recently moved to the area and was referred by a co-worker. I brought my dog in for a UTI, the vet challenged her previous diagnosis and therapy for arthritis. He insisted it was most likely hip dysplasia not lymes disease that caused her arthritis. He recommended an x-ray to confirm. I agreed, assuming an x-ray would be around $60. He failed to tell me he was going to take multiple x-rays of many views of her hips/legs etc. I was shocked when I got a bill for almost $700 for her X-rays and UTI treatment. He then recommended I stop using glucosamine therap and do a hip replacement surgery on my 7 year old dog, calling it an "easy fix." The antibiotic they prescribed gave her vomiting and diarrhea. I had told him she usually had issues with antibiotics. When I called back the staff were rude, & told me this was a major side affect of the antibiotic & that I should "deal with it," because the vet who prescribed it was not avail. to change it to a different antibiotic.

Horrible place!!! I left my happy, healthy dog at the kennel on Friday afternoon and picked him up the following Monday. He became listless, had severe diarrhea, and was so weak he could barely make it up the stairs! I immediately called the kennel. The manager told me it could not be due to his boarding there, and then left me hanging for at least 10 minutes when I asked to speak to the vet. I eventually went to the clinic as I felt they should take care of the problem. From the moment I arrived and was asked to sign a document stating that I agreed to pay all charges, to the lengthy wait for a vet who told me my dog's problem was probably due to stress , through the ridiculous "estimate" of costs just to diagnose my dog's problem, it was a NIGHTMARE! They refused to do so much as draw blood until I signed the financial form and coughed up a "down payment." The original "estimate" was between $800 and $1770. When I expressed my shock, they came back with a lower estimate that

I just felt the need to echo a lot of what has been said here. Under no circumstances should anyone ever bring their pet to FRAH. I had a dog with severe diarrhea, and the vet there said (after $100s in tests) that it was undiagnosible, that she needed to send a stool sample off to some unversity. Meanwhile my dog is getting sicker and sicker, throwing up, bloody****, it was bad. So I decided to take her somewhere else for a 2nd opinion and within minutes she was diagnosed w/hookworms. They dewormed her and she was better gthe next day. One of the most common problems, but FRAH said she couldn't be diagnosed and would have let her die while I paid and paid and paid.

I've gone to Dr. Sand for 7 years with my cats and 3 years with my Toy Poodle. He's a good vet, and I've had some good experiences with the other vets there. However, the prices are high and the pharmacy is terrible; I've had many mistakes with medicine, receiving either the wrong dose or the wrong medicine. Some of the techs don't know what they're doing. They told me the Flagyl was not an antibiotic (false) and only gave me half the amount prescribed (5 day instead of 10 day supply). The emergency vet said it was correct, but it wasn't. I had to go back twice this week due to meds problems, and although the vet said I wouldn't be charged (I'd already paid) they tried to charge me; it took 20 minutes to clear up although I was the only person there. Kim Hammond didn't even apologize for all the stress caused by their medicine mistakes. We don't need the added angst from incompetence when our pets are sick. NO MORE.

My cat had an eye infection and resp. infection and she needed to be seen ASAP. I was not happy to begin with when they took my cat from me and I was not allowed to be there after the initial vet exam (getting temp and a brief visit with the vet) After about 15 minutes they brought my cat back out to me. I had no idea what tests they actually performed, only what they charged me for. They sent me home with 3 different meds, eye drops, antibiotic, and pain med. I did research on the pain med since I've never heard of it and not only is it not approved by the FDA, but it is known to have a very high chance of ARF in cats! I don't know if the vet was just uneducated, or if they were purposefully trying to cause problems with my cat to get more money. Unfortunately, I'd already given my cat one dose of this medicine. One day after the vetshe looks worse than she did before the vet. I will never, under any circumstance, ever take an animal to this vet again.

Horrible animal hospital. Brought my dog there for what they told me was routine gastrointestintis, and 6 days and $5,000 later he was dead and they could not tell me why. You never see the same vet twice, and boarding facilities are horrible.

Falls Road Hospitals doctor to the stars is more interested in publicity then running a quality veterinary hospital. They consistently run late for appts and should a billing error on THEIR part occur, rest assured they will NOT make any effort to reconcile the issue without inconveniencing the customer. In our case they failed to bill us for Heartguard and Frontline for 2 large dogs. When they discovered it they demanded that we return to the hospital to make the payment (a 15 mile trip) and refused to take our CC number over the phone and also refused to take a check. We found another vet and to make matters worse they then refused to respond to that vet's request for our animals medical histories. Let them take care of the stars animals, me I'll take a vet with their head in the real world and an interest in the customers.

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE!!! Brought my sick dog and Dr. Hammond ran up nearly $900 worth of testing without my permission. Extremely unpleasant when I questioned him about this. I hear some of the other vets in the practice are good, but watch out and ask the cost, unless you are a millionaire!!

Maybe this vet has gotten a lot worse over the past year, but when I took my animals to them about a year ago, they were wonderful. The staff was friendly and really seemed to care about my pets. The only complaint I have is the waiting time, but I only had to wait when there were people in front of me, not when nobody else was there, like some other people said. They are the only vet I know of in Maryland that treats guinea pigs and is open 24/7. Their prices for flea, tick, and hartworm medicines are actually cheaper than the vet I had been taking my dog to, so I don't know why people complain about them being so expensive. If I still lived in Maryland, I would still be taking all of my animals to them even though I live almost an hour away.

I wish I would of found this site before I had taken my dog to Falls Road Animal Hospital. I should of realized when I had to wait over an hour for my scheduled appointment. Then, I had to wait in line to pay my bill. I got the feeling that I was in an assembly line that was stuck in slow motion. There was no sense of urgency and no respect for the time of the customers. If you plan on going there with your pet, take a pain pill and pack a lunch!

During our final visits, we saw lots of angry people in the waiting rooms. This really should have tipped us off. We made a huge mistake of boarding our two female pet mice at Falls Road while we were on vacation. You'd think it'd be pretty easy to care for mice. All they needed was food and water. Well, when we came back, one of the mice had her back sliced open. It was a DEEP cut 1.4" long and 1/2 inch deep through muscle tissue. The night vet was very nasty and tried to claim the other female mouse did it (yeah right) but that was nonsense. The cut was very clean, long, and straight (like from a scapel). I have worked with a vet at the Baltimore Zoo and have been around enough mice to know what bite marks do and do not look like. This was NO bite mark. A couple vets later admitted "something could have happened" while one of their staff watched the mice, but they wouldn't say what. We made them suture our injured mouse, and never went back to them again.

Terrible experience! Took my dog there to be neutered and was told that I could pick him up between 11 and 8 pm the following day. Arrived after work the next day at approximately 5:30 and left with my dog at almost 7:30. A 2 hour wait just to pay my bill and pick up my dog! Upon picking him up I realized that his paws and tail were covered with ****. I don't know if it was from my dog or the conditions of the cage, but I certainly demand more sanitary conditions from a place that just performed surgery on my boy!!! Going back to my previous vet that I should have never left.

We boarded our 2 dogs there from Sat. am to Sun pm. My husband was clear that we would be picking the dogs up on Sun. evening. We arrived at 5:30p and they refused to release the dogs because "For Pet's Sake" closed at 5:00 and they claimed that Falls Road Animal Hospital did not "have access to the dogs" even though they share a building. When I expressed concern about the dogs being left alone (no walks) from 5:00pm until 7:30am the next morning they conceded that there was a night technician that had keys but said they would not allow the dogs to go home with us because they had no way to bill us. They actually refused to let us take them home and made us leave without them obviously more concerned about billing than what was best for the animals. We have to go back tomorrow morning to pick them up and will have to pay an extra day. Of more concern than being billed an additional day, we are very disappointed with the possibility that they were caged without a walk for 14+ hrs

I had a good experience at Falls Rd when I brought my rat in to have an abcess looked at. The doctor was very kind and patient, didn't try to push any tests that I couldn't afford (perhaps because of patients species), and had no trouble holding and treating my rat. I paid only $40 for a visit, needle aspiration, and 2 Rxs. By the next week my rat was happy and healthy.

We went to Falls Road to see an exotics vet who was decent but I cannot say the same of the other vets and the staff who work there. My best summary of the hospital is a horrible experience in the waiting room. A crying paniced woman runs in with her limp cat in a towel begging for immediate help. The two women at the desk ignore her for 15 minutes while the chat about their personal lives and file their nails. Finally they get annoyed and call up the vet who takes the cat into the back (leaving the owner crying in the waiting room). He comes up two minutes later and callously tells her that her cat is dead. At this point, my husband and I left. We've heard similar stories from other owners who have been unfortunate enough to go to this hospital. Apparently clients (and their owners) are not treated with respect and care unless they are famous.
