Click to report rating    7/20/11   1     1     1     1   We brought our dog in on because he was unable to use his hind legs. The vet took radiographs and said that they could not see anything obvious. The Dr. then offered us a surgery saying that it would cost $3,000.The surgery was not explained at all.Saying that we were unwilling to do anything so drastic without more detail we asked what the next step for him would be. We were told, "It's just nursing care from here." The next morning we took the dog to his typical vet where they ran blood work.He has a severe urinary tract infection and a high bacteria count in his blood. When I called Mission Med Vet I explained our story. I was told that the Dr. we had seen was new, as if that is excusable. They were sorry if her comment about nursing our dog came across the way it had (as if there was some other way panicked pet owners would interpret that). She then ended the conversation by offering us a surgical consult. We will neither be returning, nor recommending them to anyone. RID: 26336
Click to report rating    5/2/11   1     1     1     1   my dog died because they wouldnt treat him because i didnt have the payment in full so they wouldnt treat him. i have never delt with such heartless vets before. RID: 24756
Click to report rating    11/8/09   5     5     5     4   I have used MMV several times. The first was when my kitten needed knee surgery and dr. lineberger did an excellent job! she is walking and running perfectly now! When my cat started getting sick, there was no other place I would have taken him. RID: 15250
Click to report rating    2/14/09   5     5     5     4   Though we ended up losing our cat, the staff was very caring and loving to him while he was there. He had surgery in their facility and stayed a few nights in the kitty ICU oxygen cage. The facility is the most advanced and capable I have ever seen. I hope to not have to visit there again, but have piece of mind knowing its available 24 hours a day if my animals needed it. RID: 11618
Click to report rating    5/27/08   5     5     5     5   When my dog needed a large tumor removed, we went to VSEC first because I thought they were the best. We were very frustrated with the internal medicine vet that we had to get through first with a number of tests before he could see the surgeon. Although our dog was having discomfort, we were told there were a dozen dogs there so we'd have to leave him all day and they weren't sure when/if they could see him. After several hundred dollars and still no closer to a surgeon, we called Mission Med Vet. We were amazed the surgeon got on the phone with us, listened to our story and gave us a preliminary opinion. Dr. Lineberger is excellent - smart and caring. At MMV, we met other people in the waiting room with the same experience with VSEC. I think this is a high quality clinic, just more "business first" rather than "compassionate care". VSEC was also pushy on payment - I'd guess they've been burned by nonpaying clients. We always pay upfront, we'll just pay MMV. RID: 8631
Click to report rating    1/30/08   5     5     4     2   Medical care is excellent you better be sitting down when you get the bill.Dr. Wasmer has a great medical mind. However his bedside manner is absolutely horrendous. They will take advantage of the love you have for your animal. They missed their estimate by more than 30%. I will give credit where credit is due they are very good at what they do but they should be good considering what they charge. RID: 7135
Click to report rating    1/6/07   5     5     3     1   They are very overpriced and you can have the same services done and K-State or VeSec, veterinary specialists of Kansas City at 435 and quivera They have lots of specialists there that are very good. However, they are very pricy, it is 75.00 to just walk in the door. As for staff, they are very caring but have a very large turnover due to treatment by the doctors. RID: 1825
Click to report rating    11/17/06   5     5     5     5   My dog received chemo treatments there. They did a wonderful job. For specialized services or emergencies we will always return. RID: 752
Click to report rating    10/24/06   5     5     5     5   24-hour veterinary emergency/critical care and specialty referral hospital. Most vets on staff are specialists (heart, cancer, internal medicine) not "general practitioners" like at your regular vet. They can make miracles happen when it seem like there is no other hope. They do not provide regular routine care like shots, neutering, etc. RID: 172
