1/31/13   5     5     5     5   1/30/2013 I've been going to the above hospital to see Dr. Nicky and Thomas with my two cats for over 7 years. Dr. Nicky has extensive knowledge of cats and is continuing to upgrade the breadth of her education with advanced studies working to a world reknown designation. After being to a few vets before discovering the Van. Feline Hospital, I will never go anywhere else. The cats is treated gently, not roughly or with firmness as some vet do, mistaking cats for dogs, and with care. Their knowledge, understanding, appreciation and obvious affection of how cats behave and react is remarkable. Dr. Nicky spends quantity and quality time with the cats, making her practice a family one rather than pushing one patient out as soon as possible in order to make money.Owner participation is encouraged which means I talk to and pet the cats head while she is being examined or given fluids. This also ensures that I see how the cat is being treated, something I can't do or see in other clinics.  11/16/12   5     5     5     5   My kitty has been visiting Dr. Nicki since his first week with me (he was 7 months old at the time). He was suffering from a host of health issues stemming from his stay in an overcrowded no-kill shelter (ringworm, earmites, diarrhea, respiratory infection, seriously underweight, picky eater). Each problem was identified and resolved, or in the case of his respiratory illness, it must simply be managed. My cat is now very big boy, happy and thriving and I have never had a concern with Dr. Nicki or the facilities. In fact, I am very confused by the post that complains about a dirty facility. It is very clean. Regarding compassion, I have witnessed a number of cases taken in by Dr. Nicki at the cost of the clinic who have been subsequently re-homed. This must be above and beyond a clinic's ability - it is based in compassion. On all counts, I highly recommend this clinic. RID: 38517
Click to report rating    11/8/11   5     5     4     4   Dr. Nicky is excellent in what she does. My kitty is 17 yrs old and Dr. Nicky and her team are wonderful in ensuring that my kitty has the best possible health and comfort in her old age. Thomas @ reception is also wonderful. Everyone has such empathy and they all truly care and love what they do. I've even received a sympathy card for another kitty of mine from them and she wasn't even their patient. I would recommend Vancouver Feline Hospital to others in a heartbeat. Definitely a great hospital for cats! RID: 28942

4/8/11   1     1     1     1   After waiting an hr for our appt we went into a cold room that has a storefront window on a very busy st. Once we decided on what tests to do, Dr N & Thomas disappeared for 30 mins. By the time they came back they had apparently forgotten what we had planned to do. Only I didn't find it out until months later when I went to confirm the test results & found out not all tests were done as we had requested. Furthermore I found out they put information in his chart about his health & vaccination history that is not even true. When I asked them about it they declared that they are now refusing me service!? Talk about lack of professionalism and ethics. In light of other peoples ratings for them, I am baffled by this experience. Needless to say I am now going to a new vet. RID: 24238

4/7/11   5     5     5     5   Dr Nicky and Tom were so kind and genuine, and really took the time to explain my cats health. It felt like they truly cared for him, and wanted the best. Sadly, Kieran was very ill, and upon taking him in, it came as a horrible suprise that it would be best to euthanize him immediately. Dr Nicky was very thorough in making sure I understood Kieran's illness, fully involving me in the examination and ultrasound. All of my options were presented and explained, several times and with much patience, tact, and sensitivity. The decision to let Kieran go was one of the most painful I have made. I am so greatful that his last moments were in the care of such a wonderful Dr. RID: 24182
Click to report rating    12/17/10   1     4     3     3   "Compassionate"? Although I have no complaint about Dr Joosting as a vet, Van Feline Hospital seems frequently understaffed and overwhelmed and does not "have time" for phone consultations regarding nothing more than an emotional problem with the litter box. I was an established customer of VFH when the childishly disturbed and self-consumed assistant, Tomas, insisted I bring my cat in instead of the doctor phoning me later when she wasn't so busy; and when I asked if the vet couldn't just phone me later with some advice to start, as my cat obviously wasn't ill, Tomas put me on hold to deal with a customer, then returned and told me I had to bring the cat in. Then when I was there, no joke, I opened my cat's file to see an undeserved nasty comment WRITTEN BY TOMAS ABOUT ME. So after I wrote Tomas a comment back about his conduct in my cat's file, he immediately sent me a letter *not apologizing*, but basically telling me to find another vet. Believe me, I did. Unbelievable but true. RID: 21466
Click to report rating    10/7/10   5     5     5     5   There is no other cat vet I trust more than Dr. Nicky. She is a walking encyclopedia for cat medicine and welfare, and is incredibly caring and genuine. Dr. Nicky is truly an exceptional vet and is in this business for all of the right reasons (ie: welfare of cats as opposed to just money). Thomas and staff are also very reliable and exceptional. RID: 20119
Click to report rating    5/14/10   5     5     5     5   An excellent veterinarian, she is totally dedicated to the welfare and livelihood of cats, she's totally in sync and on their level! Love her and Thomas, a great vet clinic! RID: 17945
Click to report rating    1/14/10   1     1     1     1   My cat was in a fight, did he really need a aids test and all the other extras????Her Boyfriend whos always there is very over protective, get a grip!!Better hospitals around, its all about our animals!!!(karma) RID: 16144
Click to report rating    9/24/09   5     5     1     2   I brought my kitten here for vaccination. Although everyone in this clinic was welcoming, I don't think i will ever bring my kitten here again. The playing room was DIRTY, the exam room was DIRTY, the place itself was DIRTY. I had to stop my kitten drinking water that had hair and fleas, and put him in the carrier. I paid over 75 for CONSULATION ONLY. It was basically information about cats(what they like to eat, how to treat them, etc). Useless. NEVER GOING BACK. RID: 14380
Click to report rating    1/14/09   5     5     5     5   Thanks to all at Vancouver Feline Hospital for providing EXCELLENT CARE of not only my cats but some of my clients cats. I have no hesitation in recommending them for all your feline needs. Dr Nicky is caring (above and beyond), highly in tune with a cats needs and owners concerns, and honest with opinions and her approach to cat care. What's keeping you from taking your cat there??! Make that call! you won't regret it................ RID: 11244
Click to report rating    1/13/09   5     5     5     5   I found this place last year when my cat took really ill. He was very sick and the staff was exceptional in their efforts to save him. They were very supportive and have extremely fair prices for the excellent service they give. Dr. Nicky has even taken time out of her vacation to help with an emergency situation. They are truly caring people and it shows with their care for my pets. I really enjoy the interaction with the staff and the processes. I was also invited to visit my sick cat on the weekend when they are closed. I now have another cat that needs a great deal of care. Again Dr. Nicky was very honest and straight forward with the situation. I always feel well served and comfortable with their advice. I am thankful I took my pets there and will for as long as I have cats. RID: 11229
11/26/08   3     4     4     2   My cat was in for surgery and should have been out within days. However, staff had placed a heating pad in his kennel and it was far too HOT, he managed to pull his cover away while he was still drugged and suffered a SEVERE burn to his side. I don't know how long he was like this before they found him, the burn was so bad that grafts were needed and it took almost 8 months to heal. The little bit of fur that grows on his side is discoloured and sparse. Other than this incident, I felt they were good, especially with the emergency surgery he needed in the first place. This was just an irresponsible situation, and hopefully has only happened the once. RID: 10714
Click to report rating    7/30/08   5     5     5     5   modernized, clean, and feline only hospital which allows owners full interaction with process. Dr. Nicky empathizes with her clients regarding cost and reality. she is well versed and genuinely adores cats. Her sidekick Thomas is a very receptive, friendly, and chatty. I truly feel like a friend when I bring our cats there, and commend them for running an animal hospital first and their business second. Thank you RID: 9513
Click to report rating    7/26/08   5     5     5     5   I have brought my cats in numerous times. They told me my indoor cats do not need all of the shots, and I found this honest as they could have told me I needed them all. Everyone working there is very friendly, and the examination rooms are not sterile like most. RID: 9452
Click to report rating    7/16/08   5     5     5     5   Stevie-Ray my six year old striped tabby cat was diagnosed with 2 cm saroma in stomach wall verified by ultrasound, exploratory surgery and biopsy. The growth was closing off part of stomach causing him to be very sick. Surgery was the only option for him to live. This was an intense six hour surgery. That night I was able to watch him on their kitty cam covered up with blanket and pillow. Dr Nicky, Thomas and her staff are brilliant, competent and very dedicated people who love cats. Facilities are clean, spacious and welcoming to pets and their owners. I never had to wait more than minutes in waiting room. Very reasonable rates. RID: 9339
