I have been bring my dog here for 10+ years. Their professionalism is really dependent on the Vet, I really recommend Dr. Barrett and Peiman, they explain well and I have never felt they pushed for more ($). As they explain the needed tests, options, and prices. I don't find them pushy. The front staff are there but you almost have to bother them to check in etc.. Not very attentive with questions. It is easy to get an appointment within 24hours. Very clean facilities with most medical services available.

Unfortunately I had to Euthanatize my dog spice as her collapsed trachea was getting worse, causing her to faint while walking around. The process at the hospital itself was ok. Dr Barrett was amazing, however the payment process left much to be desired.
Prior to Spice passing they advised the cost was $740, to which I accepted. After Spice had passed, I paid and left. Lo and behold, I'm contacted a few days later advising there is still a balance of $250 outstanding and the cost had actually been almost $1,000.00.
While this isn't the end of the world, I didn't appreciate being told that I had to settle the remainder within the next 15 minutes otherwise Spice's aftercare (cremation & urn) could not continue. I explained that I would be fine to pay the remainder when I come to pick up the urn in a few weeks however this wasn't good enough for them, despite making the error. The only thing they had to say was "sorry". It's already a difficult time without getting this slap in the

WARNING!READ THIS before you go there. Cat dead in 2 weeks.I took my perfectly healthy 16-year-old cat there to have a skin scraping for bumps on her skin. The handler brought my cat back out after and informed me my cat had an ear infection and we administered Surolan ear drops.. without getting my permission to start with and not informing me that they contain prednisone steroids.Within 2 days my cat swelled up like a football and one day later stopped eating or drinking I called Dr Tse and she recommended a laxative and giving my cat wet food, four more days went by until I could see Dr Tse again whereby this time my cat had become emaciated and would still not eat or drink. Dr Tse did $500 more worth of tests and guessed that it was cancer and recommended euthanasia ..said that it was just coincidental that the cancer appeared after my visit. She should have advised me to stop the drops immediately and told me what the drops contained.??

I’m surprised by the negative ratings. I love Dr. Peiman. He is so kind and so knowledgeable. He was with us when we had to euthanize our elderly dog and he was so incredibly nice. I trust him with our furry family members.

Seems they are only interested in how much money they can grab from the owners than the quality of service. everytime I go they try and innundate me with a slew of tests. Be prepared to spend at least 500 even if its for a minor problem. Every time I Have been in there regardless of the problem they needed "blood tests" they ALWAYS need blood tests.. even when my dog had an injured leg, apparently the only pain medication they had needed a blood test. I witnessed the "attempted" blood test.. they poked my dog at least 6 times trying to get a vein until she finally nipped at them and yelped to stop. It was horrible. I finally said forget it .. I don't need the pain medication if that's what it takes.. they weren't too happy because they couldn't charge me the extra bucks for that... they prey on the emotions of owners to make their money .. totally disgusting.

It seems that the occasional bad review mainly consists of policy related issues, and pet owners who don't understand why the vets did what they did to care for their pet, and didn't like it. I have nothing but amazing things to say about this clinic. It's expensive to own a pet. Regardless of where you go, and every clinic has policies that must be followed. If you don't like it go somewhere else. All of my experiences at this clinic have been positive ones. Pricey, yes. But I'll pay the price for great and trusting service!

My kitty has not seen a good day since I got him neutered at this clinic. The front staffs are very friendly but the vets who served me has no feelings at all. She was in a hurry, wanted to finish the examine and leave. When I asked about the OPTIONAL charges which according to her All seemed to be a must n said, "if u don't do those your cat might die!!!" Who says stuff like that?! A week later my kitty scratched a big patch of fur from his neck and he was scratching the area raw. I brought him to the clinic, asked to be served my somebody else not the same lady. A male vet this time gave my kitty a steroid shot for some skin problem and to put Vaseline on his scar. I put vaseline as suggested which turned the scar into infection! I researched a lot online and found out he had an allergic reaction to the new food I had given him. The steroid shot had side affects. My kitty now has diabetes from the shots given to him . These vets DON'T KNOW ANYTHING! DON'T EVER GO THERE!

I have been going to this clinic for over 22 yrs. with various pets. This clinic has always treated me and my pets we extreme diligence and care. Dr. Pepper Jones has cared for a few of my pets and has diagnosed and treated everything properly and with empathy. I have moved far away and have tried another clinic, but have come back to Birchmount as the care was just not of the same caliber as Birthmount Clinic. The travel distance is well worth it as my pets welfare is what is most important.

This clinic has gone down hill which is unfortunate. There have been a few errors in the last few years which have made me question the expertise of this clinic- from injecting a antibiotic into my cat without telling me the side effects to a mis diagnosis to my dog. I have changed clinics and would not recommmend

i took my cat here once because he was drooling all over the place. the vet couldn't even diagnose the problem and charged me for nothing! i left that place furious because there are only so many reasons for a cat would drool and the idiot vet could not come up with anything, not even an educated guess...i eventually turned to google to get the answers i was looking for. It was because he ingested some of the liquid flea medication we applied to the back of his neck days prior.

Clean facility and staff is ok. I've been bringing my dog to this place for years...when it was first open, it was great as prices are decent and they do a great job all the time. Now they're just stealing $$$$$ from me. ALWAYSSS suggesting i do this test and that test and medication this and that. My friend told me that her vet will never prescribe her dog any medications and always mentions to her that they don't need to take the unncessary meds for no reason. Where are all the true vets that actually care about the animals and not only about making $$???!!!!??? Time to look for a new vet

Nothing but great things to say about Birchmount. Friendly staff, always answering questions, no matter how many you have. I bring my pup to see Dr. Radchenko and she is fantastic. Friendly, knowledgeable and my pup loves her. One time I went in because I was concerned he was ill. She checked him out immediately and didn't even charge me. This vet office is highly recommended!

We started taking our cat to Birchmount back in 1990 when we moved to Toronto. Dr. Barrett & Dr. Pepper-Jones have always been very caring, very professional, and very good with our animals. We haven't been back for a few years since we moved out of the area but if they're still practicing there, it must be excellent. Dr. Barrett even came in on Christmas day one year to check on our cats status post-surgery and to call us to update us. How many vets do you know would do that?? Thank you for your expertise and advice over the years. Sheila C.

I inquired at this facility re grooming for my 3 month old wheaten. To my suprise I was told that I would be expected to drop puppy off at 7am with possible pickup at 3ish. I thought this was over the top considering I was familiarizing my puppy with groomers, tables and clippers so that we could have many years of grief free grooming. I was told that this was the policy and could not be changed. Needles to say I moved to another groomer. Flexibility has to be a part of business, you cannot treat a little puppy the same as a mature dog.

They staff at this clinic are really nice and took good care of my pets over the years. However since they have moved into the new building things have changed. One of the Vets in particular overcharges me for everything, and suggests that I do everything no matter my money status. I have spent so much at this clinic over the years. I went to get a second opinion and brought my last couple of bills with me, they new Vet said that it was not needed to get all the tests done and that they were really expensive. I have now changed Vets and am getting better service for less of a price.

I have nothing but praise for this place. My senior dog needed emergency surgery and the costs here were substantially cheaper than other vets. Not only that but they have the most up to date techniques and my dog's life was saved. She even got a free grooming and followup. The staff is caring and their facilities always clean. Highly recommended!

Several months ago, I moved into the area and decided to make the Birchmount Veterinary Clinic the vet for my cat Maxwell. Almost nineteen years ago my parents took me to the SPCA to pick out a kitten and from the moment I saw him I knew he was the one and he'd been my best pal ever since. Being young and without a diploma or career, I have been living paycheque to paycheque for quite some time. The staff at Birchmount Vet understood this and never made me feel pressured about the cost to care for my cat. They always checked to follow up, they were always happy to take the time to troubleshoot with me over the phone for no extra charge, and when it came time for his passing, they did what they could to reassure I had done right by him, and even told me to take a few days to grieve before coming back in to worry about the bill for euthanasia. This morning, I received a planter with a very heartfelt card of condolences signed by the Clinic. Pricey services? Yes, but worth every cent.

It is a bit pricey but the vets there are so caring and thorough. We would not change clinics to save a few bucks. This place is worth it. They have called us to follow up on dogs' progress after any sort of surgery or illness and their kindness when we have lost a pet was much appreciated.

Never go to this clinic. They misdiagnosed my dog and she died, something that could of been caught earlier wasn't. HORRIBLE ! Staff is so fake also especially the one older lady with the short straight hair that thinks she know everything!!

All I can say is the next time you go there observe how the staff or doctors suggests you have your pet do certain tests (which are important they say) I have friends that have pets that don't even take their pets to vets & their pets have lived longer than others that do go to see vets. All Im saying its such a good business, figures this vet is a mansion - I should be part owner due to the money I have paid for all my pets' bills, mind you I liked this vet when it was just a little house now it feels like a money maker business, charge here charge there...thanks for letting me be broke, its funny how the world wants you to adopt animals but never tell you how much you are going to spend in the end!

I took my dog there for grooming, after contacting the staff who sounded great on the phone. I explained in detail what I wanted. When I picked up my dog I did not even recognize him. They butchered him, and his ears are actually dirtier, they left the hair in the ears that they buzzed off. His nails were sloppy, but mostly I am disappointed after spending over an hour on the phone and in person going over what I wanted, and getting a bill $35.00 higher than any other groomer. They overcharge you and smile while saying the hair will grow back! Spend your money elsewhere!

I love the staff at the Birchmount clinic but i find the prices to expensive, i guess you get what you pay for though. I just wish they could lower their prices for ones who cant afford the high cost of wanting and loving a pet.

As a kid growing up we always took our pets to this facility and we swear by it. Now as an adult with three Great Danes I still take them there. Every vet is awesome and so are all the staff, very, very friendly and very suppoortive. Best place by far! John Stott
