3/26/14   5     5     5     5   I have never experienced service so great and so helpful as I have here at Village Gate Animal Hospital. Dr. Toole and his team have been of great help to me and Jazzy, my dear cat. Jazzy is very sick and is struggling her life. I am completely shocked and devastated by knowing Jazzy's serious blood problem. I brought her to see Dr. Tooles suggested by my friend. Now she is at the hospital for about 4 days under the care of Dr. Tooles and his team. I am so impressed by Dr. Toole’s humanity, kindness, warm personality, and professional demeanor!!! His entire personality brings great credit to himself and this animal hospital. I know it is very difficult in saving Jazzy’s live but Dr. Tooles is giving his best to do so. Jazzy is so lucky and I am so grateful! RID: 50704

He isn't rude: he is very busy, he is very thorough, and his level of communication demands you have some knowledge of veterinary care (otherwise, he talks over your head). I find that he accepts approaches other than his preferred, if your knowledge and reasoning are sound. I like that in a vet. As for his costs, it really doesn't matter where you go in Toronto, vet costs are high. Why? Because office space and property tax is obscene in Toronto, and they need to make a living. I've seen Dr. Toole's car: it's a Ford Focus. If you think he's living "high on the hog", well, evidence would suggest he really is in it for the animals. RID: 37895
Click to report rating    9/25/12   5     5     4     5   My dog has been going to Dr. Toole for the last 3+ years. Based on my experiences, I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Toole. He and his staff have been great to us and have treated us amazingly. He does what is right for the dog and does not do additional, unnecessary and expensive procedures where there is no need. He is EXTREMELY responsive and considerate. I feel lucky to have such a great vet for my shih-tzu. RID: 37415
Click to report rating    8/11/12   1     1     1     1   This vet was rude and arrogant when I had my appointment for my pet. His staff looks miserable to be there. All in all a bad experience. RID: 36435
Click to report rating    5/15/12   2     3     3     1   I would NOT recommend this vet. First of all you can never get an appt there when you need one. Would you like to wait 10 days if your dog is sick or injured? He's expensive and rude to boot. In the past he's hired other colleagues because he's busy and they never last there. I wonder why?? Not a good sign. I'd look elsewhere. RID: 34260
Click to report rating    12/5/11   2     2     3     1   Our young cat was having some health issues regarding swollen mouth and ears. We took her to Village Gate and they ultimately dismissed her problems as an allergic reaction to "something" and that we would just have to deal with it. No suggestions were given for treatments or preventions. But in the process we spent a fortune as well as had to take the cat back and forth as the vet could not get a blood sample and tested her for fleas several time (even though she is an indoor cat and has been treated with a flea preventative medication before). We did not see Dr. Toole, we saw another vet on staff but she was clearly clueless. Since then the diagnosis as "allergies" has now been submitted to our pet insurance so any other issues our cat has our claims have been rejected as possibly a prior issue related to this diagnosis. We have found a new vet who has properly diagnosed our cat, she is on the right medication and is finally improving. Avoid Village Gate! RID: 29592
Click to report rating    11/10/10   5     5     5     5   I highly, highly recommend Geoff Toole. He was amazing with my cat who is not so amazing with vets. He was kind and compassionate. You can just tell he loves animals. A really wonderful vet. RID: 20778
Click to report rating    2/14/10   5     5     5     4   Dr. Toole and his staff are fantastic! They have wonderful facilities, and Drs. Toole, Valdmanis & Goldman exhibit compassion along with first-rate up-to-date knowledge. The prices are a bit high, but given the care provided, I'm willing to pay for the good service. RID: 16600
Click to report rating    1/8/10   5     5     5     5   I've been taking my two cats to Dr. Toole since this hospital opened (nearly 7 years ago). I find him and his staff very helpful, the clinic is well-kept, and the hours are flexible. In terms of charges, they are about in line with other vets in the neighbourhood (and I don't necessarily want to go to the CHEAPEST vet around...); I think the value for money is excellent. Dr. Toole has always explained each test or shot, and will answer questions fully. He's recently taken on two more vets to help out and they both seem good too. In short, I'm very happy with the service we get there. RID: 16059

11/18/09   1     3     3     1   I have brought my pets to this veterinarian a number of times and have often felt like I was being ripped off. During exams, there have been a number of times where tests would be done, without so much as an explanation as to why or an outline of the costs involved, only to be side swiped with a huge bill in the end! While I do not mind paying for NECESSARY tests or procedures for my pets, many times I have felt that they were NOT and more importantly that the costs were not justified at all. The costs of certain straight forward exams is quite unreasonable, outrageous and borderline abusive. I have compared prices with another vet and this only strengthens my belief that this vet will take advantage of anyone he can pump money out of who is gullible enough(unfortunately like me!)to believe what he is doing is absolutely necessary. I find him sneaky and that is why I will not be returning. I will take my business elsewhere to a place that is more reasonable, and honest. RID: 15374
Click to report rating    5/20/09   1     1     1     1   I have a feeling the same person wrote all the previous comments. Went here once for an opinion and this vet was very rude to me. RID: 12864
Click to report rating    2/20/08   5     5     5     5   I've been with Village Gate and Dr. Toole since they opened a few years ago. Am very happy with the care my cats get and think the rates very reasonable. The atmosphere is welcoming, Dr. Toole takes the time to explain everything to you, and their hours are very accommodating (they also make house calls). Highly recommend them! RID: 7490
