I had been taking care of my sister's family's dog for several weeks when disaster struck...he began choking... literally choking on an unknown object. The poor guy was clawing ferociously at his own face & mouth trying to dislodge whatever was in there. My regular vet is pretty far away so in a panic I drove him to the closest vet I could find which was Gate City. Driving 90mph in their direction, I called them to give them a heads-up about the situation & they couldn't have been nicer. The staff was very calm & patient while on the phone with me...which given my state that alone was a virtual miracle...and talked me to their facility while getting information they needed. When I arrived, staff were waiting for me at the door and took him straight back for care. After he was stabilized & I called my sister, the receptionist came out & gave me a much needed hug. I felt like I'd been a patient there for years. My regular vet is retiring this month. I've had my records faxed.

Gate city has been a good veterinary hospital. They offer many advancesd diagnostic tests in house, and the staff and vets are friendly and will take the extra time to answer any questions or concerns. My only complaint is with the reception staff. The only draw back seem to be a long waiting period, and there seems to be a lot of chaos and disorganization with the reception staff. Veterinarians are great.
