Click to report rating    10/13/14   1     5     3     1   The 4/8/13 review gave me chills. In 2005, at a different office, Dr. Ray removed all the teeth on one side of my 6-year-old cat’s mouth, top & bottom. I brought her in for 1 extraction. When I picked her up, 1/2 her teeth were gone. I was shocked. He said once he “got in there,” he realized all those teeth were bad & needed to come out. He didn’t call to get my consent. My cat had just had a dental exam & Xrays, but all that alleged damage was undetectable until he “got in there”? I, too, came away feeling my cat was a guinea pig. She had a terrible time adjusting to the loss of her teeth & was never the same. Three months later, she started withdrawing & was diagnosed with lymphoma. We had to euthanize her 4 months later. When I researched lymphoma, I read it sometimes can lay dormant in a cat & then be activated by “physical trauma.” What a 2nd kick in the gut to read that. I always felt that the removal of 1/2 her teeth was unnecessary & set off her downward spiral & lymphoma. RID: 54048
Click to report rating    4/8/13   1     4     4     1   I brought in a cat with a black tip on her tongue. I was advised she would need to be put under to be able to diagnose the problem. I was also given an estimate of the bill. Hours later and after no phone call was received except to pick her up, I came back to a cat with no teeth in her mouth and a HUGE bill, a $1000 more than I was quoted. My cat was only four and did not have stomachitis and there was never an answer about her tongue. Dr. Ray told me how excited he was to use his dental experience. I believe my cat was a guinea pig. He also charged me for nerve blocks although the cat was under sedation. My regular Vet was appalled and said there was no reason to pull all her teeth and they advise against it. There is no excuse or explanation for what was done to my cat. I had my phone with me all day and never received a phone call giving permission to do what was done. RID: 41610
