I saw first hand why there are so many bad reviews at this vet office. Horrendous experience at City Vet. They refused to see pet in emergency & Dr.Kaplan & staff claimed it was not an emergency & denied treatment. One night 3 urgent calls were made & no return call. They refused to treat pet in spite of multiple requests. Animal would have died if not taken elsewhere. New vet was very concerned about their attitude & unwillingness to treat. City Vet sent pet home covered in feces & without e-collar & had caged without e-collar caused bleeding (vet tech claimed he didn’t know the pet’s history, yet he was left in charge?), gave wrong food, gave broken medication bottle, clerical errors, staff distracted & and receptionists try to give medical advice, big dogs & sick cats roaming loose in reception area & no concern that other people & pets may not like a huge loose dog sniffing their pet or escaping through the front door to the busy street. Read the bad reviews & go elsewhere.

Kaplan put my 17-year old cat, 6 lbs. at end through hell. He had chronic kidney failure, thyroid problems, arthritis (which he refused to tell me; another vet did), dehydrated, weak, lost weight and in my severe emotional state, he put in "hospital," could not live long, could never be cured, would need DAILY INJECTIONS which he did not tell me about before. He repeatedly refused to put him out of his misery, made me feel horrible, while I was crying and begging hysterically for 30 minutes. Said he wouldn't put to sleep if it was his cat. Finally did; needless tests (abdominal sonogram before cheaper ideas), needless what he did to us. Wants money only and will take advantage of your emotional state. . horrible, horrible vet. WHAT DOES MONITORED OVERNIGHT MEAN? NO ONE THERE OVERNIGHT.

Everyone sings the praises of Dr. Andrew Kaplan, who is excellent. We should not ignore the fact that his colleague, Dr. Maria Camps, is equally impressive. She has taken excellent care of my two young cats, immediately identifying a skin condition and prescribing a solution for one of them. She is also very patient with the animals-- and their owners! So, if you call in to City Veterinary Care and can't get an appointment with Dr. Kaplan, do not despair; you are in equally good hands with Dr. Camps.

The most compassionate, best diagnostician I have had the pleasure of meeting. If your cat or dog has a medical problem no one can solve - I would head to Dr Kaplan... there is none better. After having him care for my cats, I will never use another vet... I would travel hours to have my cats cared for by him. He discovered what was wrong with my senior kitty when 6 others could not. While he could not cure my beloved Elmo, I knew I had given him the best care I could.
