Click to report rating    10/8/22   2     1     1     1   I called the DMV Nord veterinary clinic in Blainville before leaving (an hour drive) to make sure they could see my cat urgently (without an appointment). They assured me yes but that I might wait 2-4 hours. After 6 1/2 hours of waiting they tell me I will have to wait another 4-5 hours! A nice gang of incompetents! RID: 70468

Click to report rating    11/3/20   1     1     1     1   I was sick to my stomach at the way this so called veterinarian clinic operates. They work on commission and main goal is to see how much they can drain you for without so much as how your pet is doing. They lied out right about everything. No consulting what so ever. You feel so helpless. My poor little dog was put down in the end and from what I was hearing never even saw the cardiologist that I rushed her over to see. They soaked me for near 5 thousand and from what I saw did nothing to earn this money. How can a company be permitted to operate when so many people know the truth. PS I near positive when we went back to have her put dow and say our final farewells she was all ready dead made to look as though she was breathing. Once the ventilator was removed before the shot there was no breath nor did I feel her heart beat. My wife said her eyes were blood red. The one to put her down seemed very nervous and was injecting to the wrong intravenous. All for money. Do not go to them. RID: 69626
Click to report rating    7/19/20   2     1     3     1   My dog got 2 herniated disc surgeries and after both experience, we decided to never step into this hospital again. After 2 big surgeries, I should be feel safe having my dog taken care of at this hopistal but the trust is completely lost. They have poor practices and have no integrity. They are only for profit oriented. RID: 69408

7/29/17   1     2     1     1   She said I should dial 0 for the vet. I did so 3 times, but I was only yelled at. She NEVER told the doctor any of this. My cat was crying and tore herself out of my arms and wanted to run for her life with the syringe sticking out of her hind leg! What kind of a person is this nurse! She lied to a me my cat was dying! If not for me, it should have been for my cat, or, for the 500 dollars that I left there, for nothing. Instead of caressing my cat to sleep, it was a poor little creature in complete distress at the end of her life knowing exactly that she was going to die, and also, that I was going to kill her. I am utterly saddened and dismayed by the behavior of this person, and by the insufficient information given to me. I did not expect to have to leave Quebec with such horrible sorrow behind me. I will study film in the US, and in memory and honor of my beloved Pálinka, I will make a movie about her cruel departure from the living in the hands of health professionals of CentreDMV RID: 64308
Click to report rating    7/29/17   1     2     1     1   I have been tormented ever since my sweet little cat, Pálinka’s death, especially by its circumstances. I strongly feel that I was not given sufficient information by the vet at CentreDMV. She said it would be much easier to inject her with the lethal poison if they find a vein and insert a catheter in it. However, she did not tell me that it would last an hour. I went to the receptionist every 10 minutes and asked why it was taking so long, and she said that they were not able to find her vein. I was not allowed to be there with her during this torture. Had I seen it, I would not have allowed this for a minute! They bruised all her legs in trying to find a viable vein in her desiccated little body. No wonder, after 5 hours of waiting, she had no more fluid left in her. She would throw up white foam constantly, and we still needed to wait. And then, after an hour of utter torment, a smiling nurse brought me my cat, who was crying, soI asked her to send the vet within two minutes. Cont. RID: 64306
Click to report rating    4/6/17   1     1     1     1   As a vet student this place makes me so angry. Unfortunately, I had to bring my cat back here when was unresponsive a few days after an accident (brought him here the day of the accident, they did xrays and determined there were no internal injuries and sent him home). The tests they do and the meds they give are so extreme, like they're focused on the most expensive option before even going through the basics. I was told my cat needed a $2000 MRI scan, when I said i couldn't do that right now, and asked if there were any other options first, the vet made me feel extremely guilty. I kept him there on fluids overnight, and in the morning ($1000 later...) turns out he was just dehydrated (they didn't even give him anti-inflamatories for bruised ribs, of course he was too miserable to eat!). needless to say, don't take your pet here unless you absolutely have to. they clearly take complete advantage of your desperation.  3/25/16   2     3     5     1   My visit to DMV was not very pleasant. My little cat was seen by a student which was in her first day of stage. She kept repeating this to me on and on. This student had some trouble communicating with me in English. I told her that I was perfectly able to communicate in French if it was better for her and even tried to continue the consultation in French. She told me that she was not allowed since I chose to be served in English. Anyway, she tried her best and did the subjective and physical exam with the best of her knowledge. She left to speak with a supervisor and when she came back she had some trouble explaining to me what was the problem with my cat. She asked me how much I was willing to spend and based on that she would see what type of exams it would be possible to be done in order to confirm what my cat had. I got very shocked and frustrated with that answer. I felt that my cat was a merchandise for the hospital. She left to speak with her supervisor again and then suggested RID: 60128

7/31/15   1     1     1     1   DMV: DES MAUDITS VOLEURS !!! THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOUR PET, ALL THEY CARE IS MONEY ! THEY WOULD INVENT, CREATE PROBLEMS FOR YOUR PET TO MAKE MORE TESTS AND CHARGE YOU MORE MONEY! THEY CAN OPERATE ON YOUR PET FOR NO REASON AND CALL YOU AFTER: ONCE YOU SIGN THEIR AUTHORIZATION FORM ! FOR MONEY! I HAVE FILES OF MY PETS AT THIS PLACE FOR YEARS: THEY KNOW ME AND I KNOW THEM. UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS NO WHERE ELSE TO GO IF YOU THINK YOUR PET NEEDS URGENT CARE AT NIGHT! I suggest wait until morning and go to your usual Vet first thing in the morning. Ken RID: 57883

7/23/15   3     4     1     1   Corporate greed is very apparent at the DMV. From the second you walk in it’s all about the money. They need a deposit before they even look at your animal. Budgetary constraints are also apparent. Veterinarians have no time to spend with clients because they are understaffed and over worked for the volume of clients. They also play on the fear of losing your beloved pet by doing many unnecessary exams. (Extremely over priced I might add). All this to fill millionaire’s greedy pockets even more at the cost of animal’s lives that could have been saved had prices been more reasonable. Sadly we are at their mercy because regular vet clinics are not open 24hrs. RID: 57785

4/25/15   1     3     3     1   Imagine that you come to see a doctor for a diarrhea and the very first thing you're told is that it's extremely important to exclude the cancer, so they recommend a full medical exam. Then you're offered an option: xray for 400$ and eco for 600 and you're immediately told that the chances are high that cancer will not be seen on xray. So you accept the eco, already feeling you're manipulated but not having a choice, because you've been under a strong stress for the last 2 days. Do you expect your family doctor act this way? After the eco you're told that everything is OK, that they did everything they could (and nothing has changed) and that in the next 24 hours you will have a strong diarrhea. The technicians are not able to tell you anything else that is not on a standard booklet they give you. They are not able to answer any of your questions about the services having been given to you. You spent 1000$ for nothing. That what happened to me and my cat. I picked him up RID: 56787

10/21/14   3     3     2     1   To me, the vet did not address my needs. My cat is 17.5 years old! And he has eye problems (looks like infection). I was referred to see the specialist, and I was told that it MAY BE cancer. With no tests for that, they suggested enucleation (meaning removal of the eye!). And they will do a batch of scans to see if my cat can go through surgery and the tests are $1000. And the surgery is another $2000! I asked if we can take some antibiotics first - and the vet said, if I want to save money, safe it for antibiotics after the surgery. But I don't want surgery! Does he even hear me? The cat is 17.5 years old, and he may not live through the surgery. Again my concerns are ignored completely. Then I asked if I can have some broad spectrum antibiotics - and the vet said, this may help a bit, but it will be just a placebo effect. Listen, my cat does not know what he is taking - there is no placebo effects for cats! My cat is not human! This does not make sense at all. Just ridiculous! RID: 54211

10/6/14   4     4     4     2   Hello i would like to add my rating about this hospital because my Becky had surgery there twice and i was very satisfied with the service provided to me and she also is followed there by Dr. Fifle internal med , her both surgeries went without a problem , she has a liver problem and thank god they have anesthesiologist who takes good care of her knowing specifics about how much and which meds her liver can handle , both surgeons were great Dr.madore for her liver and Dr.Plantee for her abdominal surgery , the Er Vets Dr. Mc Neil and Dr. Marie -Eve Gaudin , Dr. Marie Pier Ledoux also super nice , the techs always friendly and helpful especially Katerine , who took her time to make Becky's food in the blender because its the only way she will eat this at home and when they told me she would not eat I told them its because she is spoiled at home she gets her can food mashed in a blender this was done for her , the receptionist amazing !!!thank you all , and amazing after care also .  6/30/14   1     4     1     1   This hospital is a racket. It's all about money. There is a lot of incompetence. Brought my dog in as he was excessively panting. They said he had a heart problem, took an ultra sound (expensive!!!), ran blood tests, told me that I had to put $1000.oo deposit BEFORE the tests. It turned out the diagnostic was faulty, and my dog just needed to be hydrated with electrolytes !! They wouldn't refund !! Technically, you're paying for their machines. Not a bad salary that these yuppy vets have. They want to be thought of as specialists, but this is not true ! These are just young vets and technicians making bungling mistakes. TRUST TO NOT GO THERE! Do not be afraid of contacting the syndic which handles problems with this DMV Lachine hospital. Public needs to know what's going on there. RID: 52348

3/28/14   1     2     1     1   If you love your pet, stay away from this place. They are only about money. Montreal DMV is a stressed environment and your pet will suffer for it. Receptionists are trained to be polite, staff will yell at clients (hard to believe? But it's true) and totally ignore what clients explain, then they will take matters into their own hands, setting your pet up to technical mistreatment. Whatever positive reviews you read, are totally unrealistic to the Montreal DMV environment. When you're left with the trauma of your pet having died due to their technical mistakes and incompetence, you will NEVER find closure in realizing that the circumstances could have turned out better if they would not have been so technically incompetent. Trust my words, and stay away from this place. I was there to witness first-hand of everything they do, night and day. This is not my whining because I cannot accept my pet's death; this is my trying to save other people's pets. RID: 50745
Click to report rating    12/30/13   5     5     5     5   DMV saved my dog's life in early October, thanks to the emergency vet (Dre.Couture)who took us as a walk-in and did a thorough exam on her. She had been misdiagnosed at her regular vet's, but DMV was able to pinpoint a couple of possibilities right away and it did turn out to be a rare (but treatable) disease, which was at the top of her list of possibilities. We have since seen internal medicine here many times, and appointments tend to be punctual, and the staff caring. The prices are fair for the services rendered; we drive from 2 hours away as it is so much more affordable than our local specialist hospital. When our dog was in the ICU we were called daily with updates on her condition. RID: 49003
Click to report rating    10/8/13   1     1     1     1   this is by far the worst vet clinic in Montreal!!!! i went there 2, not by choice!1) had to put my 17 year old poodle down (for various reason which they didn't explain properly) and they wouldn't even let me stay with her when they did it, they wouldn't let me keep the body or even get the ashes!! they are awful! 2) my dog had a tick i couldn't remove they removed it and sent it for testing, it took 6 months to get the results!!! i would call every few weeks and they kept changing their story "we didn't get them yet" "if it didn't come back it means they didn't find anything" "we will call the lab and get back to you" it was unacceptable i got my dog tested at my vet for lime disease and 6 months later (again after me calling) they finally got the results. WORST PLACE EVER!!!! RID: 47502

5/27/13   1     4     1     1   This clinic exists only because there are no other alternatives in Montreal. We need a better place. My dog got hit by a car. They showed no sympathy and saw his bleeding nose and said he had brain damage and wanted to do a "brain" scan before the vet had even seen him. They also suggested a special "observation" cage (extra cost of course). When I said no to both I was kept waiting for 3 hours even though the reception area was empty. I asked how long it would be and they told me they were busy "saving" lives of animals at risk. I wish there was an alternative for emergencies because this place is horrible and the people there have no love of animals. They only love money. RID: 42741

3/19/13   3     4     4     2   Brought the dog to the clinic because his blood was not clotting. Immediately they started talking about keeping him and giving him blood transfussions, When I asked the cost they informed me it would be start at around $3000. I refused. A blood sample (taken from his neck which is the worst place possible for a dog whose blood won't coagulate) was taken and it was discoverd that there were no white blood platelets. Returned 2 days later for another test. The receptionist weighed the dog and informed me that he put on 2Kg. I asked the vet if the medication she prescribed was based on his weight.this was affirmative so I told her that they had his weight wrong on the first visit. i could go on but all in all you need to be informed and question them a lot. In addition they overcharge for medication. They charged $100 for something I could get at my local vet for $12. RID: 41165

2/15/12   1     1     1     1   This place is only in it for the money, very useless clinic. After a consultation and x-ray, I was told my dog was fine, they called me back the next day, left a message on my Voice Mail stating once again, all was good with the x rays. I called and said my dog was still not walking on his paw, they suggested a 1200$ operation to insert a metal rod.  1/30/12   5     5     5     4   Awesome clinic with greatest equipment in Montreal. My dog was vomiting blood, they found it was related to a foreign object he ate the day before. He was operated at 2 in the morning and recovered perfectly. Yes this clinic is expensive when compared to my regular vet but they have a full team of veterinarians, technicians and animal keepers around the clock year long. Plus they have every single machine or test needed to perform the higher level of medicine available in Quebec. They will be there for your beloved one at any moment of day and year. This is why it costs a lot. It is true that their staff is young and that is a great thing, they are all aware of the advances of veterinary medicine rely on facts and studies not on personal beliefs. They know their war around standards of medicine and will propose the best diagnostic and treatment plan for your animal. Then you can choose what path you want to take with them because they want to help you! Remains my #1 choice for my pets! RID: 31880
My 6 month old 5 lb puppy ate a peace lily leaf. I checked on the ASPCA website, confirmed it is potentially lethal and went to DMV (10 pm on a Thursday). I paid the fee to open a file, and waited for 45 mins with a very sick pup. A tech came out with an article about how easter lily is not poisonous to cats and said he would be fine. I said she had the wrong species and the wrong plant, and the ASPCA poison control listed it as toxic. I was told that the vet would not see me. Next day Wally needed meds and IV fluids at his regular vet to undo the damage that was done by not treating the night before. We almost lost him. Then DMV sends us a letter asking for donations because of the wonderful care they give in the ER... Yeah, right. Unless they are run over by cars in the middle of the night, my animals will never set paw in there again. RID: 24715

3/25/11   1     4     1     1   HORRIBLE VET! Went there with my cat who suffered what we thought was a broken back. The vet assistant made me take him out of the pet carrier to weigh him prior to the exam, even though this could have been done by the vet, therefore avoiding additional pain to my pet. Why is it she, the supposed professional, could not handle the pet herself! I paid 600$ for a 30 minute vet consultation and 1 X-Ray, all this at 11pm. The average X-Ray is 40$ at a normal vet, consultation is 60$. DMV is a rip-off. They try to milk it for everything they can take you for. The best part: They could not see what was wrong with the cat from the X-Ray. Sent me home with 100$ worth of painkillers that did nothing for my cat. Went to my vet (the fantastic NDG Animal Health Clinic) the next available business day and was told his back was broken and there was nothing that could be done. I had to put my cat down. So on top of grieving for my cat, I have an gigantic credit card bill. RID: 23855

2/5/11   1     5     5     1   STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS...No need to reiterate how expensive this place is or the fact they play on emotions. Our puppy had been vomiting for about 2 hours. Now you imagine a vet would start a diagnosis slowly and come to a couple of options. We got one.....basically our dog, which has very limited contact with other dogs should be tested for Parvo...stay overnight and be intubated to get his electrolytes up. Suggested cost: 1200$....Now I'm not a vet but have owned more than 8 dogs in my lifetime and sometimes a stomach ache is a stomach ache and shouldn't be treated (at first) like cancer or in this case Parvo. In addition most of their vets have less than 5 years experience which may indicate that these actions are either related to inexperience or (in my humble opinion) that they are compensated and/or evaluated based on their billable per animal (which is completely unethical). Next time I will drive the necessary hour to get to St Hyacinthe. RID: 22617

12/14/10   1     2     2     1   To all pet lovers: AVOID THIS PLACE. The staff is young, irresponsible and immature, there is no communication among them, your dog once there will not make it. We took our 2 year old Beagle there for a broken leg…..he died 3 days after the surgery, and nobody could tell us why. We dealt with 3 doctors there and each one of them gave us a different reason of why our dog died. We were visiting our dog every day and we were telling them that his not doing worse day after day, they kept saying he is fine until he passed away. For a broken leg our dog died….  11/28/10   1     2     2     1   Wish I would have seen this website prior to bringing our dog into this institution. What was supposed to be a non life-threatening operation turned into us watching our dog suffer a slow and painful death. The staff was inexperienced, careless and never seemed knowledgeable about our dog's progress and condition. Serious lack of communication between staff members. Twice a day we would inform them that something was wrong, but they always had a lame excuse, kept saying this was normal and didn't seemed concerned. He evenually paralyzed, became delirious, his body bloated and his heart could no longer take it. Til this day the Doctor's canot give us a reason why this happened. All their supposedly theories and they were "just theories" make no sense. After extensive research and seeking opinions from vet's that are not associated with this hospital, an overdose of medication would have account for his death. Stay away from this place, if you want to see your pet alive. RID: 21125

11/14/10   1     4     1     1   First of all it was expensive (count on at least $200 for the visit). They kept my dog (in excruciating pain from a neck injury) waiting half an hour even though we were the only patients in the waiting room. Worst of all they sent us home with two bottles of pills to give - one of which was ANOTHER DOG'S medication - which I did not notice until the next day after I had given her a dose (an overdose of what she needed since she was much smaller, but fortunately not fatal). And it was the actual VET who made this mistake, who showed me the bottles and told me what to give - not an assistant. Only in the direst of emergencies would I ever go here again. RID: 20853

Click to report rating    9/26/09   1     1     1     1   This people should be arrested and the place closed down. They quoted us 1200$ because my puppy had a sugar lapse and required a boost. My veterinarian gave him the necessary treatment and he was up and running. My bill 115$. The guys without a doubt are the biggest crooks in town. In experienced vets as the experienced ones have their own clinics. The only training these guys have is how to exaggerate billings and rob you blind. Avoid at all cost as you will be out thousands of dollars for treatment worth hundreds. Safe to say that their prices are at least 10 times the competition. RID: 14417
Click to report rating    8/28/09   2     4     4     1   I have had previous experience of two specialists facilities in North America, one in the US and one in another province in Canada. My comments relate solely to their specialist services and not their emergency practitioners. I am far from being cost-averse and have expended many thousands previously on my animals. I am also, as a layperson, extremely well-informed as to technical matters with respect to the health of my cats, frequently consulting full text peer review papers in medical journals. My experience with the specialist at the DMV was appalling. She clearly was relatively inexperience as most of the specialists at DMV appear to be, having a mere handful of years post specialisation. She clearly was intending to ratchet up the bill and made a couple of "diagnoses" which were later shown with further consultation - NOT with DMV - to be false but were meant to be additive to the bill. FAR FAR inferior to my experience with the other specialist facilities in North America. RID: 14036
Click to report rating    7/12/09   1     2     1     1   Very disappointing! One expects professionalism & a certain level of compassion & yet this "hospital" which exploits the image of health care(uniforms, titles) seems only to act as a business. The staff is visibly very young & inexperienced, has major internal communication problems (we were given the wrong medication doses, wrong visiting times, etc). It got so bad that our pet had visible swelling caused by internal hemorrhaging, the technicians & emergency staff did not spot it until we pointed it out! The bills are outrageous compared to other clinics with more experienced staff & those bills are never adequately explained. The vets are difficult to reach & when you finally get to speak with them, confusing. Their inability to "talk at your level", their excessive use of "shop talk" where perhaps only another vet may understand, means you have no control with decisions to be taken. You feel like a hostage while trying to save your pet. Truly a bad experience! To be avoided! RID: 13467
Click to report rating    4/2/09   1     4     3     1   They play on your emotions. My cat had to go there-he blood in his urine- he has a history of urinary blockages. When I called they were most concerned about telling me about the consulation costs (which was triple my regular vet's). As it was a holiday, I took him there. They took an x-ray (my vet rarely does) straight away and couldn't tell what was wrong by the x-ray and told me he must have an operation (approx $1,200). I didn't beleive them (thankfully) even though they had me in tears trying to make me feel guilty, I asked for my x-rays and told them that I would take him to my vet the next day. It was strongly suggested that he most likely would not last the night. When they realized I was taking him home, they changed their story and only then told me alternative treatments my vet might do. My vet's total charge - for antibiodics and 2 days of treatment? $150. DMV wanted to put my cat under, cut him open just to make $1,200 when he simply needed antibiotic treatment. RID: 12327
Click to report rating    1/31/09   5     5     2     3   I am amazed that all people do here is complain about the cost. they run an excellent 24-hr service with vets, techs and assistants there at all hours. i wouldnt want my dogs anywhere else if they were sick. not other clinics except for st-hyacinthe (an hour drive!) have someone there if anything happens in the middle of the night. the quality of care and attention goes above and beyond. Click to report rating    5/13/08   3     5     2     1   BEAUCOUP trop cher!!! Si vous n'avez pas une carte de credit... oubliez cette clinique! MUCH TOO EXPENSIVE !! If you don't have a credit card, FORGET THIS CLINIC ! RID: 8501
Click to report rating    11/30/07   5     3     4     1   Très très dispendieux.
RID: 3081
Click to report rating    2/19/07   4     4     1     2   incredibly expensive and long wait times, the staff was very kind however and it's good to know that they are there as a last resort. It was also a hard place to find, the directions they gave were not very helpful. RID: 2871
Click to report rating    2/7/07   2     5     5     1   VERY expensive-act on your emotions. My dog was vomiting and told me the "least I could do" was run tests costing $1200, because dogs can go downhill quickly. I hesitated and they made me feel like I was a terrible pet owner. I waited a day and the dog was fine-never had a problem since. Only go there as a last resort and have an open credit card when you go. RID: 2735
Click to report rating    2/5/07   5     4     5     2   This clinic has the top of the line Dr. & equipment, but is EXTREMELY expensive. I purchased meds at a cost of $137 & my dog had to be put down the next day. I asked for a refund since it hadn't even been 24hours since the meds were purchased & was told that they didn't do that. It was 3 days before Christmas & I was broke from vet bills having tried to save my dog for the past month. You would thing they would refund the drugs, the protective seal wasn't even touched.
