BEWARE... They will give you a paper with a high estimate of needless tests, and for doing each test, charge an extra fee for just doing the test! I couldn't believe it when I saw this extra charge. Their explanation was that they are much less on their fees than other vets, and they must pay the staff for doing these tests. Isn't that what the test fee is for? It's called an "in house" fee and is $29 for every test. You will not see the same Dr, as previous visits, but it is good if something happens on the weekend or if your reg. vet can't get you in, at least they can be seen to make sure there isn't anything life threatening going on. That's about the only reason I would go there again. The estimate they gave me was outrageous and she didn't need half of the tests. They won't start out by doing one test, and then going from there. They want to run many tests and charge you.

I made an appointment to have my cat seen here, as she is on a daily medication and special diet. I originally stopped in to have them fill her medication, but they explained to me that they legally can't do that, as they don't have a license like Target, and need to actually examine my cat before their doctors can fill her prescription. I understand that they weren't out to inconvenience me, but they need to follow the law... after all, I wouldn't expect my own doctor to break the law for my convenience! I also learned that the medication my cat has been on is not only not needed but may actually be harmful if her blood isn't checked routinely!!! My previous dr never mentioned the side effects, and then to find out it wasn't needed... I found the staff very friendly and they seemed like they cared. Yes, the wait was long, but no longer than I wait at my own doctors office... Overall, I am happy with this clinic and have switched here as I feel they are more forthcoming and informative

Buyer beware....Banfield is nothing more than a corporate cookie cutter operation with no respect for the animal or pet owner. You never see the same vet. All they care about is the up sale of product and profit.......
Whatever you do, do not purchase their wellness plan as it is a scam.
Do not just believe me, do a search on Banfield reviews.

My experiences at this Banfield have been WONDERFUL (especially compared to the plymouth or st. louis park ones). We started going there with our ancient lab, but now we have a new lab puppy that we take there. The staff is always friendly, and very helpful. One of the nurses went out of her way to answer all of my questions since we just got a new puppy and it's our first baby. To people who gripe about the cost: where else can you get all the shots, heartworm test, bloodwork AND a dental cleaning for like $400???? Their wellness plans are very worth it, we signed up the first day. Dr. O'Brian and Dr. Lee have gone above and beyond when our puppy had diarrhea and a urinary tract infection, they took very good care of our baby, and are both professional and informative vets. The only issue I had was once I had to wait for 15 minutes, but they did tell me they were dealing with an emergency, which I completely understood.

I took my two puppies to Banfield, even though I was happy with my previous vet, because I couldn't pass up the price of their year-long contract - Ugh!!!! The store is filthy with puddles of urine throughout. I watched a pet vomit in front of the scale and watched the owner wipe (most of) it up with no follow up by Banfield to sanitize. I've called 3 times in 3 months with puppy questions, asking to speak with a vet. Every time the vet was "unavailable" and the receptionist just recommended that I bring my pet in without offering to have vet return call. Staff is sometimes (but not always) rude. I don't feel like my pets are safe under their care.

I brought my cat here a few days after purchasing her from this petsmart. She had some weird things going on with her skin. I called up there and they told me I needed to bring her in right away and so I did. They ended up sending me home with all these medications that only made her worse. They just used a black light on her skin to look for ringworm and it didn't show anything. They decided to treat her for it though. She ended up getting alot worse because they couldn't do a standard skin scrape. She had yeast growing and the antibiotic just made her much worse. I called back to complain and they just said it was my fault. It is pretty standard for a clinic to automatically start with a skin scrape when it is a skin issue. I will always try and talk people out of going to this clinic. They overcharge and are rude. Even one of the petsmart employees that this banfield is located in said how horrible this clinic is (I was told that after taking my kitten there). Dont go here.

With the exception of one female doctor on the staff I agree with the other postings. While I understand that they are a business and need to make money they do seem to love the almighty dollar. We were on the wellness plan and were told we did not need appointments for our dog even if it was just for a question. Our dog tangled with a stray cat and lost, but when we called and wanted to bring him in they said they couldn't see us because they had too many "walk ins". I was duped into paying the higher priced wellness plan and the one day I need them they won't see me! They routed me to another Banefield Clinic in St. Paul 50 minutes away! We are done going here.

All they care about is ripping you off, vaccinations and feeding you a line of crap that if your animal doesn't get this or that, he will be unhealthy or will get a disease. Also, if he didn't get certain vacinnations that they would kick him off of the Wellness Plan, ANOTHER RIP OFF! Some staff members were friendly but most could care less about your pet, they only see dollar signs. Another thing, don't ever bring them in for surgery of any kind, you are expected to know what to do and what not to do the night before. They say they treat your pet like family, well I'm glad I'm not part of their family cuz I'd dis-own them! I write this review because I think everyone should be aware of what they do and don't do there. I mean, c'mon this is your pet, part of your family, everyone has a right to know and be aware of someone elses experience!

My whole experience there for the care of my new kitten through starter shots and surgeries was awful!! It was inconvienient, they weren't up to date with their procedures, and I will never take my cats there again! The Banfield Hospitals are not a good place to take your animals!

Not only were the fee's outragous, but they actually charged us for having our dog all day there, and forget to do the tests he was there for? Extremely disappointed!
