I called this vet and they will not let me order heartworm pills from 1-800-petmeds. They insist that I pay the $43 for a annual heartworm blood test. My mini dachshund has taken his monthly heartworm pills until October 2011. Since Winter, he has not been outside and has not contracted heartworms. I have insisted that they let me order the pills online so that he can get his medication overnight because we are now in Spring weather. They are making me wait 7 days before I get his appointment and this delay in time is putting him at risk for contracting the disease. I can't believe that they won't let me give him a pill to prevent him from contracting the disease until he gets his test.
