We brought all our animals here and our last dog had many allergies which developed into skin problems. We spent thousands of dollars trying to help him yet every time, came out inconclusive. Sucked us of every penny from food to pills to medications. One day my dog fell very sick and wasn’t eating, this had happened a couple months before and they had told us he would have passed if he hadn’t brought him in. So that day we brought him in ASAP! They told us they had no room and sold us MORE “food” that would “help him”. My two year old dog passed in my living room a couple hours later .

This clinic is soo expensive! Most of the vets there spend 5 minutes to check my dog and they charge around 70-75 for the visit! I have never seen this in medicine! Are animal different than people in terms of medical care?Dr.Mass is the best clinician there very nice listens carefully to your concerns and she is a really good diagnostician. I have heard that Dr. Dunbar is good too however try to avoid Dr. Boisvert she is really incompetent. This dr should go back to school but wait...I don’t think they teach them common sense there!

Went there 2 weeks ago for my cat's ear infection. Great service. The follow up appt was today and they called me yesterday to remind me. Get there today and receptionist says appt is Tuesday and was rude, says too bad we cant fit you in. After we argued with them, the got a vet to do the appt. This vet gave a completely different diagnosis of the previous vet. 2 weeks ago I was told my cat is starting kidney problems. Now, this vet dismisses it and says it's thyroid problems and wants us to pay for a $250 blood test. What a RIP off too, cost us $300 for the cat's ear infection. Called other vets and they do follow up appt free or cheap like $25. Never going back there again!

They say they specialize in all animals but DO NOT bring your rabbit there. I brought my rabbit in to get spayed but ended up losing her. They are not the best with rabbits.

This clinic is horrible. They are only out for the buck for everything possible. When we brought out dying Golden Retriever in to be put down they insisted to give him a physical. This was my 5th Golden at 14 going into kideny failure and with a huge tumor, what is a physical going to change. Only that they will have another $85 in their pocket. We refused and they looked at us like we were scum. The tech couldn't get a vein for the iv after 3 tries then someone more competent came in thank God. My poor dog was shaking when he got put down. They call it a comfort room which is hilarious. Now we brought one of our young cats which has had a cold and insisted that he needs an xray of his throat and chest. Another $250.00 and when my son-in-law said he doesn't have the funds, they immediately became rude and judgmental. If you want a vet that doesn't know what they are doing and charge 2x the price. If you want your pet petted after being fixed just add that to your bill. Insane

$235.00 for a 10 minute exam and one blood test, 1/4 of a vial, taken by the technician. I took my small dog there and this was the charge. No more, I will not go back. Are they out of their minds charging fees like this??? I have been going to Dr. AM Masse for over 25 years and since they moved to this new location with new owners they fees are absolutely ridiculous. They are money hungry bandits that need to realize their are many other competent vets in the West Island that charge much less and genuinely care about the animals. My only regret is to leave Dr. Masse, as she is probably the best vet I have ever had, however I realize she does not make the fees, the owners do.

They claim to have staff that are competent with exotic animals. DO NOT BRING RABBITS OR GUINEA PIGS. The vets are not specialized and those that are, are hardly available. I had 2 pets die in that clinic because of poor veterinary care. Awful experience. One vet misdiagnosed my bunny while another found a lump (cancer) in her abdomen that the first vet missed. According to the second vet that saw her the lump was too big to operate on. If its so big how can the first vet miss it! Negligence rules this vet clinic when it comes to exotics. Avoid at all costs!

I have been a patient at the Pierrefonds Animal Hospital since the late 80's (with Dr. Major, one of the founders of the hospital). And have been returning, because the vets are very professional and caring. My current vet is Dr. Naomi Dicks. She is one of the most caring, thoughtful and reasonable vets. She really considers the needs of the patient, and aims to help the animal and not just to cure the disease. Other vets are also very kind and helpful, and they collaborate as a team to figure out tricky problems. I feel re-assured when they seek the professional opinion of other colleagues when they are uncertain. Dr. Dicks goes the extra mile and offers me the confidence that my pets are well taken care of. Technicians and staff are also very kind, patient and helpful.

My cat started losing weight and sneezing. The vet Dr. Duguay told us that he probably had tumors. Did x rays and did not find anything but suggested hospitalization for $800 and insisted that he had tumors somewhere else that were not detected by the x-ray. Also gave him 1 month to live. At the end she injected him with antibiotics. We brought him home after paying $350 and started thinking about how to reduce his suffering so he could go peacefully. Thankfully we decided to get a second opinion and brought him to a well known vet on cote de liesse Dr. Langill (who I highly recommend) and diagnosed my cat with sinusitis, injected him with cortisone, did an urine test on the spot and took blood samples. Next day we received the results of the tests which shows that my cat is 100% healthy and today he is doing great. The Pierrefond animal hospital is the worse place to take to pets, only care about money and will give death sentences to your pets just to get more money.

Dr Dunbar is excellent. Wish that the services were not as expensive though! More expensive than the surrounding vets. Owners of this clinic:read comments!!!! Clearly people are happy but find your clinic expensive! Lower your prices!

This place is first & foremost a BUSINESS - make no mistake about it. Testing was overpriced & I was guilted into doing an ultrasound that didn't really show them much apparently and really wasn't necessary. The vet doing the ultrasound was supposed to call me and never did - I had to keep calling the hospital to get news on our little guy. The staff was laughing and socializing just outside the door where my family and I were visiting with our pet before having him euthanised. Look around the West Island for another animal clinic if you are looking for people who actually care about animals and not just about making money. I have found another clinic for my surviving pet and their approach and services put Pierrefonds Animal Hospital to real shame.

Great staff! Only complaint is the advantage they take on your emotional attachment to your pet. Some will pay anything and they know it! Outrages fees!

Dr. Laurie Dunbar is the best vet I have ever had. She took amazing care of our dog Buster and Reggie during the ten years we lived in Montreal. I would never trust our dog care to anyone else.

I had an appointment for 11am and was kept waiting 30 minutes when i called the day before to ensure that everything would be on time as I had another appointment for noon. I was told that someone was already in the examination room and they didn't know how long it would be. Then this horrible staff member with blond hair and just kept trying to stare me down into waiting until I was called.Vet care is expensive and i would pay for my pet but I will not be treated like the hospital is doing me a favor.I have since changed hospitals and the difference in staff is amazing and they are punctual, we all lead busy lives and my time is as important as the Dr.s.

Dr.Dunbar operated on my dog. The dog was there 3 days. Dr. Dunbar was amazing-she gave thorough explaination pre surgery, contacted me after, personally did post op checkups. The staff were amazing-so kind, so caring. The post op physio program with Maria is incredible. I would not go anywhere else.

$383 for 16 hours on IV which was ripped out by the puppy. She was handed to me wet. $43 for a teaspoon of activated charcoal that she threw up. Get real. If it weren't for the fact that I like ONE particular vet there than doesn't try to bankrupt me, I would go elsewhere.

Dr. Dunbar is rude, impatient and doesn't care if you spend big bucks on useless tests. The ONLY good vets that we've seen so far was Dr. Masse and Dr. Lawlor.

They had treated my pet for the same condition, same symptoms 6 months prior but claimed that they need more tests in order to make a diagnosis. I had to agree to buy an unnessary ultrasound in order for them to start the treatment. This meant an extra day of pain for my pet, an extra day in hospital, unnessary testing and a lot more money. The ultrasound showed what they already knew and the treatment was the same. They take advantage of the clients and sacrifice the health of the animal. They are crooks!!

I drive all the way from Hochelaga-Maisonneuve to that place. Dr de Montigny saved our old cat's (+10 yrs) life 2 years ago (no surgery, just an overnight treatment) and we are grateful for that. Explanations are always very clear. Try bringing you kids to the appointment, they will love it. Staff is welcoming and they are obviously cat lovers. Another reviewer was hinting that they recommand the food brand they carry... I would say it is probably the other way around; they carry what they recommand!

I Would not take my cats anywhere else. I have used this clinic for over 5 years. Staff and service is very good. Compassionate, kind and very attentive to owner concerns. Dr. de Montigny, our primary vet, explains everything to us, and really knows my cats. She already made a surgery to one of my cats and saved its life! Thanks a lot!

This is a great vet, fantastic facilities, great doctors, I've been going here for at least 15 years with dogs cats and rabbits. They can be very overpriced on surgeries. Sometimes can be hard to get impartial advice from the vets (try asking which food to feed your dog and they'll tell you to feed only the brands they carry). Waiting times can be very long, but it's only because they take in emergencies that can sometimes throw the schedule. The staff there is amazing, the technicians are very knowledgeable and will help with anything, the animals love them, and the vets are all very caring. They see rabbits too, and are very good for medical visits, but are price prohibitive for surgeries. You'll feel good leaving your animal with them, but your pocketbook will hate you.
