I went to this clinic and was told my cat probably had allergies that was causing the hair loss on one side of her neck. I bought expensive shampoo and left. A day later I took my kitty to a groomer to get a shampoo (with the allergy shampoo) and she said did you realize your cat has a bad ear infection. I then took her to a different vet and he said the hair loss was from her pawing at her painful ear. Ear medicine and cleansing cleared it up -- no allergy. I'm surprised the Avenues Vet clearly didn't look at her ears and see the infection. I won't go back. Also, some staff were nice but others seemed disconnected from the animals and the humans at the clinic. In addition I waited 40 minutes past my appointment time before seeing the vet.

The staff rating goes for Dr. Ponce exclusively, not the rest of the staff. The receptionist and assistants were very caring and informative, but it's pretty obvious that Dr. Ponce doesn't really give a crap about your animals. Cold, unconcerned, and doesn't try to get all appropriate info from you. Don't take your pets here if you have any bit of concern for them. There are plenty of places in town that will show obvious concern for your animals at half the cost.

I've been taking my cats and dogs to Dr. Ponce for 7 years, and love these guys. I've recommended her to several of my friends when they needed a vet. Every one of these friends has remained a client. Dr. Ponce and her staff are both highly competent, caring, and thoroughly professional. My only (small) beef is that they ALWAYS seem to be running a little behind schedule. On the plus side, though, when my animals have had a particularly complicated problem, she spends as much time as necessary to make sure I understand all the possibilities and the options for treatment and outcome. (this is probably why she's so often 'behind schedule'!) For monetary value: there are cheaper vets in the valley. But what price do you put on your pet's health and life? I openly admit I'm biased. I rave about my vet all the time, and cannot recommend Avenues Pet Clinic highly enough!

1. Condescending Receptionist
2. Unorganized - took them a while to find my kitties papers, then took a little while more to figure out whats going on.
3. Asking me what shots she needs, im not the doctor how am i supposed to know. She is a baby kitten you tell me what she needs.
4. Not acknowledging my presence for 10 minutes when 1st entering the building, not even meeting of the eyes or head nod, nothing
5. I expected a diarrhea problem to be fixed instantaneously not a 2 night stay at a hospital. 6. No postcard or reminder saying its time to get her shots
7. Not calling me back to go over the status, I had to proactively call and check

I've been taking my pets to Dr Ponce for 3 years and am completely satisified. I've had to deal with the death of two of my pets and she's been wonderful. She's wonderful with routine visits and always willing to fit us in if we have a special need (we found an abandoned 4 month old kitten and she got him in right away and made room for his surgery to be neutured). She's also a godsend when we've had to fight severe problems. We've had to let two pets go and she's been very supportive in trying to treat and/or cure the problem, calling in specialists for us to consult, etc and when it was time she came out to the house to put the to sleep. It was very sad, but I couldn't have asked for more support from a vet.

Dr. Ponce and her staff are in my opinion worth taking a visit to. They are so friendly and truely care about your animals and it shows both professionally and emotionally. I have been seeing them for 2 years now and I will continue to take my animals to Avenues Pet Clinic forever!

I had taken my puppy to another vet and that vet took her time examining my puppy. This vet was in and out, and i really didnt like that, especially since i paid for a full exam.
