The staff are nice enough, but they seem to charge for every little thing they do. I had never been charged a "grooming fee." They literally ran a small flea comb run through part of my dog's fur. I had no idea I would be charged for that. Ridiculous.

The docs at this hospital TRULY care. They work extremely hard to make every visit special. My dog was diagnosed with a disease two other veterinarians could not figure out! Not only did they treat my dog but they were also reasonably priced (even cheaper than the other two veterinarians I had visited). I never had to wait more than 15 minutes for my appointments which is pretty great for a doctors office! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone at Island Trees Veterinary Hospital. I will never go anywhere else.

I took my puppy here for a small wart on her lip. I was told they could take her right into surgery to remove it, it was very painful and should be removed immediately at a cost of around $600. I knew she was not in pain and took her for a second opinion at the North Shore Animal League. They said it was a harmless virus and would just fall off and it did within two weeks. Island Trees Vet doesn't care about the animals they just want the MONEY. Stay AWAY! The office looks nice but looks are deceiving and the staff is rude too.

Dr caren misdiagnosed two of my dogs nearly killing them. Thank god we went for a second opinion on both occasions. Dr Carens diagnoses were way off, if we hadn't gotten seconds opinions they would have died. One of my dogs clearly had crushed discs, yet dr caren insisted it was a heart problem. My other dog has a digestive tract disorder that he said was his liver. The second opinion said his liver is fine. DO NOT GO TO DR CAREN. He picks things cause he has no clue.

I took my pets to Island Trees for 3 years, we had some pretty bad luck during this period and I spent a lot of time at the vet. During this time I was able to get to know Dr. Caren pretty well and can't say more about the care and compassion this man has for his clients. The other vets are okay, my advice would be to ask for Dr. Caren and you'll be in good hands. An amazing, who has patience and isn't quick to jump to extremes and will wait with caution to see how things develop. My only regret is that I wasn't able to take him with me when I moved out of state. The vet techs are also great! The place isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for and I think it's pretty on par with other vets in Nassau county. Besides, I'd rather pay for quality care then try to save a few bucks and compromise the well being of my animals.
