I took my french bulldog in exibiting signs of dehydration/gastritis, the vet was most concerned with me understanding that the dog had acute hemmorahagic gastrits syndrome then coming up with any comprehensive care for the dog. A woman came in with an estimate to keep the dog for 3 days for an astronomical amount of money, I informed them that I would have to take the dog home, I was given a dirty look and when I tried to engage to find another option she turned her back to me, left the room ignoring me trying to find another option. The doctor then came back in and recommended giving fluids under the skin which I agreed to. I was then told to bring him back if he worsened. The vet team never offered to do blood work or imaging without me agreeing to leave him there. He subsequently went home and after a few hours he had a respitory concern and passed immediately before we could get him out of the house. If the vet team at Pender did not try for a cash grab and actually offered servi

I want to thank Pender Veterinary Centre from the bottom of my heart. The care my Lab Sonny received during his 4 day stay in the hospital was extraordinary! The ENTIRE staff was amazing, especially Dr. Voell.
Dr. Voell also called me every day to give me an update. He communicated the medical terminology in such a way that it was very easy to understand. There was so much compassion and desire to see that my dog received the best care possible. Pender genuinely cares about their patients!
Prior to the recent hospital stay, Sonny was receiving cold laser therapy for his arthritis. Pender has state of the art laser equipment and Sonny's mobility improved tremendously!
The front desk staff is super friendly as well. All of the technicians have been beyond wonderful. Other Dr.s Sonny has seen are very professional and on top of their game. Sonny has made a few special friends at Pender and we love them all!!!

We started going to Pender in 2005 because they are available 24/7, which means they will care for your pet any time of the day and after our last emergency, that means everything to us. We expected higher fees since living in this area is more expensive but the fees were actually cheaper than our Centreville practice. The owners and managers of this large practice are very professional and caring. The hard working staff is always available and I love that I can call or stop by and talk to a vet tech anytime to ask medical questions. Pender has many outstanding veterinarians, it makes choosing one hard. I wouldn't take my pets any place else, they take great care of our 3 dogs!

ALL the staff was rude, wasn't too happy with prices either. If you enjoy a place without a heart go to PENDER

Pender has become way too big with too many doctors and therefore has lost some of its appeal. Stick with one of the senior doctors and you will be OK. We use Dr. Denney who has always been good and easy to communicate with.

I took my bird here quite a few times for wing clipping and nail trimming and he has never stressed or had any issues. We brought him in this past summer and they took him to a back room to clip nails and wings. Well I don't know what the hell they did in that back room but my COMPLETELY HEALTHY bird stressed so bad when he got home that he had a seizure, they messed up clipping his wings it was VERY uneven. So we brought him back to the vet and he stayed overnight. While he was there he got a cataract WHILE IN THEIR CARE, which the vet couldn't tell us how it even happened... they then released him to us and he obviously was not ready to come home. my bird died 2 days after we took him home.I showed the records to another vet for a 2nd opinion and they had done all these unnecessary tests and bogus charges, which I got a full refund for EVERYTHING, but wish I had seen these horror story reviews sooner about this place, maybe my bird would still be alive! :-(

Doctor are good if you go to Pat Denney or one of the other senior vets. The emergency doctors seem lacking in ability and eager to get you to do unnecssary tests.

I had two cats die there in three months. One of the cats was very young and not that sick. She had to stay overnight and they forgot about her. By the time we came back 6 hours later her temperature was under 90 degrees which turned to be fatal. They couldn't get her temperature back up and she basically went into a hypothermic shock and died right in front of me. The other cat was older with a heart condition. I will NEVER trust them with another animal of mine. A lot of the doctors are young, just out of school.
