Click to report rating    9/25/20   1     1     1     1   I booked an appointment to put down my pet who was destroying everything, meowing all hours of the day and night, and acting violent (he's very old). They insisted on taking my credit card number to secure the appointment but assured me that it would not be charged. I went there with my cat, they took him inside for 4 minutes (I timed it) and then came back and said that he "appears to be healthy, it would be unethical to euthanize him". I took him with me. 2 days later, I see a charge on my credit card for over $100. What I would like to understand is how 4 mins is the equivalent of $100 especially when they didn't do anything that I had asked them to and I did not ask for an exam? Why my card was charged if I was assured that my credit card was only to secure the appointment. I did not authorize a charge nor was I informed of any charge. What's to stop them from putting another $500 on there tomorrow? They are now ignoring my emails and calls. RID: 69559
Click to report rating    10/12/19   1     5     3     1   AWFUL experience - DO NOT go to Blue Cross. It was evident they didn’t care about my cat, and it was solely about the money. I booked an appointment because I was seeing signs of diabetes in my cat. From the first call to make an appointment I wasn’t feeling great about this vet, as the receptionist was very judgemental and condescending on the phone. My feelings about the receptionist were validated when I was waiting for my appointment and overheard her speaking poorly to the other receptionist about a customer who had just left. The vet told me my cat probably didn’t have diabetes, even though I said he was showing many symptoms, and then came back after doing expensive blood work to confirm that he did in fact have it. That visit cost me almost $400 and my cat left with nothing to help him. In fact, the only thing I left with was more than $1000 worth of quotes for various visits and tests as a next step - including a glucose curve, which they insisted required dropping my cat o RID: 68634
Click to report rating    2/11/19   1     3     3     1   The vets are good but one particular clinic admin staff is rude and blunt. They left their computer monitor on while clients are waiting in the exam room. Instead of assuming their responsibility to logged out their computer, they blamed clients for able to see their monitor while standing in the room. The worst is that the clinic manager only listened to clinic staff and issued letter which twisted the truth and blamed clients for "touching and using" their computers in which clients never did that. Clients have tried to explain to the clinic manager, but of no avail as the clinic manager was very defensive and not really opened to clients' explanation. This incident has damaged the long trusting relationship with this clinic. RID: 67346
Click to report rating    5/29/18   1     3     3     1   Insensitive staff, rude and condescending. They seem to care more about money than the pets. The front desk are all so incredibly rude, I wonder how they have even kept jobs. Do not recommend and have heard similar stories from neighbors. Please take your pets somewhere else. Especially if in an emergency unless you want to be treated like garbage and over charged for no results. RID: 66237

5/4/17   1     1     3     2   I had the worst experience with Blue Cross Animal Hospital... avoid... worst vet I've had (Dr Grams). Long story short... It was unbelievable and very stressful to be threatened with having you're pet, that you care for, taken away by the OSPCA that was called by the vet! (Luckily, I found a wonderful vet elsewhere!) I will no longer trust the BCAH google review site which has someone monitoring reviews for this place... do they have something to lose or hide? RID: 63540
Click to report rating    12/4/16   1     1     1     1   Not quite sure what is going on there. Dr. Eaglesome sends pets home with medications and that's it? I didn't know that it was ok to send a pet home with insulin and then not follow up. Give them the insulin and hope for the best? Am I giving enough? Called her to ask, and was charged $25.00 for her answer. And my cat is her patient! It truly is just about the money. I have already spent $20,000 on my dog there, who they didn't help. I had been going there for over 20 years, fortunately my first pet was under Dr Tanney, and she had minimal problems. Time to look for another vet! RID: 62124
Click to report rating    8/22/16   2     1     2     1   Misdiagnosis after misdiagnosis. They given wrong medication to my dog. They performed surgery on my cat, who they had just diagnosed with uncontrolled diabetes, which almost killed her. I have since been told that no surgery should be performed on a pet in this condition and yet they advised us that it would help!!! And were sheepish when they sent her home that night, they thought to die. Which is another thing, they send your pet home regardless of their condition, because they have no one overnight in the facility watching the animals!! I have seen all of the Vets in the place, and found them all lacking, after spending considerable money. In the end all they did was prolong and add to my dogs suffering. I had been with the clinic for years with the wonderful Dr Tanney, and they are not even close to his level of knowledge or skill. Talking to animals sweetly when their owner is around does not make a good educated vet. My next pet will definitely be going to a different clinic. RID: 61401

11/20/11   4     4     4     5   My dog was misdiagnosed with cancer at Blue Cross. Fortunately, I got a second opinion (Dr. Sherebrin at Secord Animal Hospital) and he did not have cancer, but Lyme disease. I first took my dog to Blue Cross for neutering and basic checks and vaccinations but after my experience with a serious matter, I have lost confidence in them being able to deal with such things. Click to report rating    9/13/11   5     5     5     5   I have been going to Dr.Eaglesome and Blue Cross Animal hospital for well over 30 years and cannot say enough good things about them. I have had several cats during this time and more recently 2 dachshunds. I have always found them to be gentle and kind to both my family and my pets. We have been through surgeries, check-ups, illnesses and the euthanizing of 3 of my cats. The care my pets and I have received has been wonderful. I also have checked periodically with other vets for prices and find Blue Cross to always be equal or cheaper. They always have time to answer questions and don't do extra tests unless it is needed. I also find the front desk staff friendly and welcoming, always coming over (with a cookie) to say "hi" when we arrive. They truly love the pets and the people they care for. RID: 27571

8/24/11   4     3     3     2   They use to be affordable, but after Dr. Tanney left things changed. However, Dr. Irannejad is really very nice and helpful and the main reason me and my two dogs stay at this clinic. RID: 27137

8/13/11   1     1     1     1   The worst vet clinic I've ever been to. They do the worst examinations often ooohing and awing over the animal but missing one important part the examination! They are the least hands on of any vet I've ever been to. The newer vets are hostile and seem afraid of dogs..also seem that they have no experience handling animals except from a book. They tell you to come back in two weeks..their favourite scheme so they can charge you yet again for another half assed exam.If you even need shots they'll do it twice. You pay for their mistakes. They have an office mgr that laughs at the clients and is a specialist in double talking and bs. Between bites of food..she an answer to cover any of their mistakes. I've sat in the waiting room while people come in looking to check prices and they are very hostile and show no compassion for people that obviously are lower income.Do not take your pet here..in the end you are flushing your money away and your pet will suffer greatly for lack of care. RID: 26914
Click to report rating    8/10/11   5     5     5     5   Drs Ann Swarney, Jeff Grams, Eaglesome, and all staff truly care about your pets, their health and life and well-being, before all else. My Old Enlish Sheepdog was recently attacked by two Bullmastif/Pitbull cross dogs, and this vet team has handled this crisis with the perfect balance of professional care and sincere caring. Dr Swarney's treatment of my dog's wounds was excellent, brilliant and impeccable. She equally cared about the shock that I was in - most unusual to expect of your vet, and MOST grateful for her care. In her holiday absence, Dr Jeff Grams is continuing to check on my dog, and now deals with his great psychological trauma - along with the caring of Dr Eaglesome and Andria. The entire team at this clinic make you and your pet feel like family; each time we come in, everyone comes to ask about my dog! I could not imagine being in more capabable and caring hands for my dog. THANK YOU, to all at Blue Cross Animal Hospital. RID: 26837

7/29/11   1     1     1     1   The worst vets at the highest prices. Vets call animal services if you don't have the finances. They often give wrong advice, wrong medications and then when you need help they wash their hands of you in a really dirty way. Lowest class of vet imaginable. RID: 26582

4/8/11   5     5     5     5   What can you say about the people who fought along side you, for nearly three months, to save the life of your best friend. How do you convey to others that the care he received was beyond their simply being good doctors. Of course Vinny mattered to me, but he mattered to them as well and they treated him (and me) with respect, dignity & compassion at all times. There was an open dialogue between myself & all the doctors, even those not assigned to his treatment who had pitched in to help find a cure. And, in the end when nothing could be done, they helped me let him go. His photo’s now on their wall of memories, alongside so many other dearly beloved little ones lucky enough to be treated by this spectacular ensemble of physicians, technicians and staff. Take your pet here. You won’t be disappointed. You may be a little jealous. I wish my own family medical clinic was as knowledgeable, kind, talented & efficient as Blue Cross. Oh, and their rates are too! Go. You won’t regret it. RID: 24228

3/5/11   5     5     5     5   I live in parkdale but still take my cat in to Blue Cross. Dr. Eaglesome is the BEST CAT DOCTOR EVER. She is extremely thorough and amazing with even the difficult ones (I know!). When my cat was dying she ran every test she could and made the last year of his life as comfortable as possible. She was honest with me about when it was time for him to go, and everyone there really held my hand throughout those horrible last few months, and final day. I take me new cat there now. I wouldn't go anywhere else. RID: 23331
Click to report rating    2/3/11   1     1     1     1   1500.00 later one sick cat one dead cat and still have no idea what was wrong with either of my animals . Have asked repeatedly to have vet call to let me know have now been waiting 6 months.Only thing they were interested in was payment .Dont take any animal here it was good a couple of years ago but new office manager is horrible, and no longer has good rates. Take your pets to a real vet not this factory. RID: 22568
Click to report rating    3/9/10   5     4     5     5   I for one am happy that the clinic reserves emergency slots for clients only. This ensures that my pet will be able to be seen rather than someone who doesn't regularly see this vet. RID: 16982
Click to report rating    12/22/09   5     5     5     5   I have been attending this clinic since we got our puppy in August 2009. Our vet is Dr. Plaxton and he is AMAZING. He takes the time to explain any issues and is wonderful with our dog. This clinic does not push tests unnecessarily and I find the staff very helpful. They are all great with all of the animals in the waiting room. Good job! Keep up the great work! RID: 15846
Click to report rating    12/16/09   5     5     5     5   I have been going to this clinic for over 15 years. Although I live closer to 2 other clinics - I go to Blue Cross because I consider it the best. I have found the clinic to be clean and everyone on staff to be attentive, courteous, compassionate and alert. Only ONCE have I waited a long time to be see a vet, and that was less time then I've waited to see my dentist. Dr. Eaglesome has done well in choosing the members of her team. This year my 17 year old cat was very ill with non-textbook symptoms - he is alive and very active today because of Dr. Eaglesome's and her staff's attention, tenacity and creativity. All my cats (I had 4, 2 died of cancer) have never had less than the very best of care at this clinic. Dr. Eaglesome has set very high standards on how animals are to treated and cared for at her facility. The same standards also apply to her staff and how they interact with pet owners. I have nothing but praises for this clinic. RID: 15797
Click to report rating    11/23/09   5     5     5     5   I've been a client of Blue Cross for close to 10 years. I first went to the clinic to see Dr. Tanney, a fellow Pug lover...and he was a remarkable, wonderful man. It's not surprising then, that his business partner, Dr. Eaglesome, is equally wonderful and provides the same compassion and wisdom when caring for our beloved pugs! They are two-of-a-kind...Tanney & Eaglesome. Dr. Eaglesome now cares for our dogs and we always appreciate the wonderful care our little pugs get...she takes her time with our questions, answers every concern, explains in a way we understand, and our appointment time is always honoured...in fact, we often get in early if there are no patient emergencies. Blue Cross has looked after two generations of beloved pets for our family, and never once have we wondered if the long drive was worth it. We travel in from north of the city because of the excellent degree of care we receive. Thank you Dr. Eaglesome and the entire team at Blue Cross! RID: 15422
Click to report rating    11/17/09   5     4     3     5   I’ve been a client for many years at Blue Cross with both my cats and my dog. I must say that I have always found the Vets to be very attentive and the whole experience to be extremely good value. Currently it appears that the clinic is undergoing a large number of changes and I really think that it was time due to the age and condition of the waiting room. I actually prefer the new appointment based system and even with all the changes they continue to provide the best care and have maintained their reasonable prices. At the end of the day do I really begrudge my pets the cost of good quality care? I also LOVE that there are NO phones ringing off the hook in the main waiting area any more! RID: 15365
Click to report rating    6/9/09   3     3     2     3   I am sorry to say that after going to this clinic for over a decade, I might never return. Dr. Tanney was my vet and there is no one there that even comes close. They have lost my pets files THREE TIMES, they lost my dogs stool sample as well. Who loses dog****? I have spent over $800 and still have no answers. I paid my fee and waited half hour before they realized that I still had no dog and NO it wasn't busy at the time. WE MISS YOU BRENT TANNEY. YOU WERE THE BEST. RID: 13122
Click to report rating    6/1/09   3     3     2     2   Have used this vet for about 25 years.Used to love the place when Dr. Tanney was there. I have 4 dogs and 3 cats. I used to be able to take 2 or 3 animals for minor checks or shots and only be charged one office visit. They now charge for each animal. Have to make an appointment and I don't know which vet I will see. They will not renew long term prescriptions without an unnecessary office visit each time, more cost for me. Now looking for a new vet. Also, prices went up dramatically after Dr. Tanney left. RID: 12972
Click to report rating    5/5/09   1     1     1     1   I was there several months ago. I hated this clinic. The floor in the waiting room was filthy. The place had so many people I couldn't even find a seat. One of the ladies waiting said her dog had Kennel Cough and I couldn't believe she was not isolated. The Lady Doctor was rude and arrogant, was finishing her sentences as she was walking out the door. They may be the cheapest in the city, but I would never go back ever. There will never be another Dr. Tanney. We all got spoiled. RID: 12700
Click to report rating    5/3/09   2     3     3     4   Used to be a customer there because and ONLY for Dr. Tanney and his bedside manners with animals. An amazing caring individual, he will be missed. Will not return as a customer. RID: 12679
Click to report rating    3/26/09   5     5     5     5   Doctor Tanney, who was great, sold his clinic to his long-time business partner Dr. Eaglesome, who is also great. The staff are very kind and caring, and handle my difficult cat brilliantly--and she's not easy LOL. The clinic has a very hands-on caring approach--you really get the feeling that they love animals, and they love what they're doing. The prices have stayed very reasonable, even though I notice that the clinic has had a facelift, and apparently a real upgrade in their tools. They took a digital xray of my cat's elbows that knocked my socks off. Some of the previous comments say that the practice wasn't clean, but when I was there it was spotless. RID: 12260
Click to report rating    11/7/08   1     2     2     1   The vet was very unpolite and unprofessional. I got charge for counselling fees without receiving any services for my cat. Without actual looking at my cat, with just asking for my cat previous records, and ask me to book another appointment for the next day, I got charged for counselling fees. I will never go back. RID: 10522
Click to report rating    9/4/08   4     3     2     5   Dr. Tanney has retired and the clinic has been sold to another vet -- so the great deals pricewise that everyone is talking about will come to an end. The price is what drew everyone (aside from Tanney's care). My cats received so-so treatment here (except when they saw Tanney, he was fabulous) and they referred me to the VEC and the bill was $2,000 for basically a negative result. When I called Blue Cross back to ask how on earth they could have sent me there for a negative result, they said they had no record of ever suggesting I go there. However, they did refer me and the VEC would not have seen my cat unless they did. For basic shots etc, go to Blue Cross, but the problem is if anything goes wrong with your animal, it's not the clinic you want to be at. RID: 9887
Click to report rating    9/4/08   5     1     2     5   The vets here are great. They are smart, friendly and trustworthy. However, the front desk staff are clueless and the facilities aren't clean. The vet bills here are very inexpensive, but I am always waiting in the waiting room, even when I have an appointment. All in all, I still come here because of the location and the vets. RID: 9880
Click to report rating    2/5/08   5     2     3     3   I liked the vet. Very knowledgable man. Intelligent and really knows his material. However and this is a big however, I found the service to be very rushed. The waiting room was packed and to say the least-did not seem clean. Will pass on them. However that vet does belong in a better clinic, but I admire his humble attitude. RID: 7205
Click to report rating    1/25/08   3     2     3     1   You get what you pay for. They are one of the cheapest clinics in the city. Unfortunately, they stay that way by not offering tests they think are expensive, and by not staying up to date on the latest information. Go there for the basics, but if your pet gets sick, take them somewhere where they will get proper care. The staff are very friendly though! RID: 7095
Click to report rating    1/8/08   5     4     4     5   Staff really helped me through my cat's urinary issues. Vet explained everything really well, and even followed up with me to make sure he was doing well! RID: 6893
Click to report rating    7/24/07   2     4     4     4   I have taken all three of my cats there, and Dr. Tanney and Dr. Sloane are amazing. Unfortunately, one of my cats had to be put down, and I hate to say, one of the vets at the practice, whose name I won't mention, told us we would have time to say our goodbyes, which we were not given, until after our cat had been euthanized, and I would even say he was smug at best in informing us that aside from a $1500 blood transfusion every 2 weeks to keep her alive, our cat would have to be put down. Otherwise, every other staff member and vet I have dealt with at the Clinic have been wonderful, caring individuals. RID: 5316
Click to report rating    6/21/07   3     2     2     5   Needed rabies shot and couldn't get appt with regular vet (who follows minimal vaccination protocol). Took dog to this clinic asked specifically for rabies shot .. they did indeed give rabies shot, but before I could process what I was seeing, they gave him the parvo/distemper shot also! He didn't need it. Needless to say I was not happy and have little trust in their staff. RID: 4690
Click to report rating    6/19/07   5     5     4     5   All the vets at Blue Cross, but especially Brian Tanney, are absolutely wonderful. Caring and incredibly honest, offering all options available. They have been understanding and kind to me and my darling dog on absolutely every occasion. Because there are no set appointment times, you might have to wait for a little while, depending on what time of day you choose to go. In my opinion it is entirely worth it. RID: 4639
Click to report rating    3/17/07   1     3     3     1   I took my sisters cat in because it had allergies to dust and was scratching itself raw. They claimed they didn't have the cats medical records and wanted me to pay for all kinds of tests including a biopsy. Basically they said that the shot could kill the cat so I'd have to have it done. When the results came back they said it was an allergy - what I had stated in the first place - $300 later. Also they gave her a shot and pills for it...the vet tried to give the cat the pill - the cat hissed and swiped at him and his reaction was to throw the pills on the table and say you can do it at home yourself!!
