Click to report rating    9/1/21   5     5     5     5   I've been taking my dogs to Hermitage for 20 years, and couldn't be happier with them. My dog loves his visits with all the staff, and Dr. Boddington is awesome. I wouldn't go anywhere else. RID: 70100
Click to report rating    12/28/16   5     5     5     5   I have been going to them since October 2007. Are they the cheapest clinic in the city, no. Are they in it for the money, no. I have had numerous issues that they could have pushed for some very costly tests, but didn't. They have always given the option of tests, but also say that we can try the most cost effective treatment first. Over the years, I have come to trust that if they tell me they feel that a test is important, it is. Sadly, I had to let go of 3 of my 5 pets in 2016. All 3 were quite sudden and I was heart broken. However, in a terrible time, all of the staff did their best to try to make it as easy as possible for me and for my babies. The compassion I have seen over the years is very special. I recommend the clinic to everyone I know. I plan to go to them for the rest of my pet's life. I am so thankful that I made the choice to go to them all those years ago. RID: 62261
Click to report rating    6/24/16   5     5     5     5   I've been bringing my pets here for as long as I can remember. Dr. Miller is a fantastic vet and I've always felt confident in her ability to care for my pets. I worry excessively when something is wrong with my dogs and I always feel better after a visit to Hermitage. I recently saw a new Dr at Hermitage as Dr. Miller was unavailable. Her name was Dr. Boddington and she was an absolute pleasure! Very good people skills and even though she was clearly rushed for time she answered all of my questions and even cut my kitten's nails for me herself. I've never had a bad experience here and though it may be on the pricey side I truly believe it is worth the peace of mind. I would not feel comfortable leaving my pets in the care of another clinic. They even have a nutritionalist on staff and direct bill to trupanion insurance which is pretty cool! I highly recommend taking your pets here if you don't mind spending a little extra to ensure their safety :) RID: 60936
Click to report rating    12/11/15   1     1     1     1   I always thought that this place was amazing until I actually had to deal with an emergency. They told me that they set up up for a 30 day insurance trial and when I actually needed it I found out that they didn't set me up with it. Once I signed up for the insurance on my own I asked them to start direct billing. I was informed on three different occasions that they did not have the insurance information when I have given it to them every time I went in there. The staff is RUDE and take no responsibility for their errors. I have been transferred to different people and have been told "oh that's not my job" by the vet as well as the receptionist. horrible customer service and absolutely no compassion. they don't care about your animals they only care about the payout! Click to report rating    5/16/14   5     5     5     5   I have been going to this clinic for well over 20 years and have nothing but positive things to say about these wonderful people from the front staff who are always friendly and helpful to the techs in the back who come out to explain procedures to me and of course to the vets at this clinic, especially Dr. Romanufa (who treated various pets of mine for several years and Dr. Mann (who currently sees my 5 dogs). He encourages me to ask questions and takes the time to explain meds, concerns, etc. and I feel very confident in his abilities. For those complaining about the cost of treatment, I am sure I spend well above the average with 5 dogs, but if you can't afford to look after your "family" members, then you shouldn't have them, but that is just my opinion. You get what you pay for. RID: 51603
Click to report rating    5/13/14   1     3     3     1   There are plenty other highly qualified, skilled and friendly local vets... certainly they must have better manners than this place... I took my dog to have a procedure today. I was completely unaware that they demanded the full payment upon trying to pick up your pet (or apparently they will kennel him/her until you can pay - probably charge extra for that). When I heard they wanted full payment, I was shocked. When I asked if there was anything else I could do they said I could apply for a petcare credit card (gee, that's so nice of you). If I don't have enough money to cover the cost today what makes you think I have good enough credit to get some outrageous credit card?!? Oh yes, she had another snide response when I said I didn't have the money available.... "Sorry" with a nice ignorant smile. I highly suggest finding another facility to care for your pet. I now have to deal with one of my credit cards (had to split my payment across multiple methods) being overdrawn. RID: 51558
Click to report rating    3/5/14   3     1     2     1   We've been going to this clinic for many years without much problem until we saw Dr. Howard while my vet was away. She is rude, lacks compassion, and is in a hurry to get you out asap. We were told we had to put our cat down, with tears in my eyes I asked when? She looked at me, and said " um now". No words to make you feel better, just a cold human being. I guess killing another cat for her means nothing,(just more money) zero compassion for us or our beloved pet. After our visit I talked to co-workers and was warned by a few to NEVER use Dr. Howard, she's in the wrong profession by far. Wish I knew all this before hand. To those who argue otherwise, wait until your pet is dying, then her true self will make an introduction. Sad but true. RID: 50326
Click to report rating    1/7/14   5     5     5     5   I wanted to thank the staff of Hermitage Vet for all their help over the years with my beloved Muffy. Sadly yesterday was the day that she had to be put down because she was suffering. Over the years the various vets I had seen within this establishment had made me feel welcomed and always knew what to say and when. Yesterday presented me with the hardest decision I have ever had to make. Dr. Armstrong and Kacey did everything they could to make that choice easier. I didn't know the pain of a heart breaking until I felt my little girl go in my arms. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for everything you've ever done for Muffy and my family. Any friends I have with pets, I urge them to visit you guys. Never once have I been turned away or had to wait long. Thank you for taking such well care of her in the years she lived. RID: 49121
Click to report rating    12/22/13   5     5     5     5   I have been taking my dog to this vet for 11 years and they have always treated my dog like he is part of their family. My dog has a lot of health issues but he is 13 and doing really well because of this clinic. He gives all the staff kisses and they know us by name. Definitely not a clinic that just cares about money!!! There are vets that are maybe not as compassionate as some people would like but the majority of them at hermitage are really caring as they have pets of their own. I would recommend them to anyone RID: 48913
Click to report rating    12/13/13   4     5     4     5   My tea-cup Chihuahua went missing for a few days and when we found him he had a huge laceration on his leg. I never even called hermitage(which is my primary Vet) I just ran in with him. They took Stanley and asked if I had a price limit on what they would be able to do for his leg. They said until they got in there to look they wouldn't know if the leg could be saved. They saved Stan's leg and in the end it only cost me $400. I will never go anywhere else but here RID: 48750
Click to report rating    12/12/13   5     5     5     5   I have seen Dr. Howard and Dr. Man at this clinic and they are both amazing. I had 2 cats that always came to this clinic and when I had to put them down Dr. Man was supportive, comforting and honest and even teared up with me. We adopted 2 more cats a year ago and we will continue to take them here. RID: 48741
Click to report rating    2/20/12   5     5     5     5   I will only ever take my pet to Hermitage. You people who have had a bad experience is probably because you don't listen. I have gone as a walk in and yes you have to wait and pay and extra $25 fee but that is worth it. A nothing thing you think they are money hungry but I think people are the money hungry or cheap ass's that don't want to pay, if you ever had to pay for your hospital bill then a vet bill would seem like nothing. DONT GET A ANIMAL IF YOU DONT WANT TO PAY FOR THEM. Hermitage was great friendly and helpful. Anyone can misdiagnose, if this happened at Hermitage it can happen anywhere. Remember everyone has bad days, yes even you. I reccomend them to everyone and there is NO WAY they would not give you a choice to treat even if it costs you thousands. they went to school not you, having to put a pet down can be the hardest thing and may the doctor recc that the pet be put down but if they did it is what is best for the animal and by law All strays are to be reported. :D RID: 32364
Click to report rating    12/30/11   3     4     3     1   I booked an appointment for a stray cat that I had taken in for about 15 months. Cat stopped eating so I took her in to to clinic. Got an appointment with Dr. Howard as a new client. Dr examined my cat and was very blunt and lacking in compassion with me. I was given a choice between spending thousands of dollars in treatments or putting my cat down. She even threatened to take my cat away because she was obligated by law not to release the animal to me if it is under duress. I ended up paying for a blood test and nail clipping and examination which came close to $400. I left the clinic totally disgusted with the vet. I understand that it's the vets job to do what they can for the animal but she was not very nice to me or my cat. I ended up taking my cat to another clinic and it was like black and white. The vet there was gentle and very compassionate with both me and the cat. I ended up euthanizing my cat at the other clinic and I vowed never to return to Hermitage again. RID: 30136
Click to report rating    10/23/11   5     5     5     5   I recently adopted two cats, and having never cared for cats before, was unsure about what the vet visit would be like. I was very pleased with the service at Hermitage Veterinary Hospital. I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly, and the vet that I saw, Dr. Maan, was very open to answering any and all questions that I had regarding the cats. He was very gentle with the cats, and took his time examining them. I would highly recommend this vet clinic, especially to new pet owners. RID: 28525
Click to report rating    8/12/11   5     5     3     3   I wasn't happy with all of the vets but found Dr. Jessica Miller to be the best. I've had consultations with her and she didn't charge me for those services. I have two dogs and three cats and I'm very happy to take all of them to Dr. J. Staff at this clinic are awesome! Very helpful and caring towards your animal. RID: 26879
Click to report rating    6/14/11   4     5     4     4   I've been taking my 2 cats to the Hermitage Vets for 5 years now and no matter which vet. I have seen, I have always been satisfied. They were very good at NOT charging me full visit price a number of times. Disagree that they are "in it for the $$"!! RID: 25604
Click to report rating    5/25/11   5     5     5     5   Hermitage is Excellent - Dr. Armstrong is the best. I was very traumatized when my dog instantly (overnight0 went blind. Not knowing what to do, I went to an Emergency Clinic where they charged me over $200.00 for 5 minutes to tell me that my dog was blind - but could not give a reason, so the next day we went to Hermitage (which they got me in as soon as possible) and my dog Scrappy saw Dr. Armstrong who was not only caring by comforting. The price was reasonable as she was able to save Scrappy's left eye and because their caring, consideration and knowledge, Scrappy at least can see now. If I would have left to what is supposed to be an Emergency Clinic - my dog would be blind today. RID: 25215
Click to report rating    3/5/11   1     4     4     1   Wow, Disgusted isn't the word when it comes to how this place treats people. My 3 month old puppy had a very swollen eye,I was not sure what was causing it so I called Hermitage to book an appointment. They told me I could come in right away as an asap, I asked what I would be charged and they told me $25. Turns out my pup had a scratched cornea and needed some anti-biotic eye drops which were $26.00. The time comes to pay and we get a bill of $135!!! They jacked the standard $25 fee to $82. They lied to me over the phone to get me to the clinic before raising the price. I could not believe it, the receptionist was very rude when I voiced my concern with the price, she belittled my husband and I to the point we just wanted to get out of there. HERMITAGE VET CLINIC IS A SCAM! I will say the vet was helpful and caring. RID: 23329
Click to report rating    9/7/10   1     4     4     1   It's all about the money there. The head vet is very good but you can never get him. Every time I've been there they are pushing you through. The last time I went, which IS the last time! I took my dog who was limping & had a sist on her leg. I was told I could come as a walk-in. Wasn't told they had a $20 fee for that. She took an aspiration & sent it off. Appx$250. Test came back "fatty tissue". I went to another vet near my docs office. They were to give a general anestesic, xray one leg, biopsy, the other. The xray didn't look good so they biopsied the 2nd leg as well. She's got an aggressive bone cancer! All this, including antibiotics for the surgery and an anti-inflammatory $360 &,Oh yea, a proper diagnosis! THANKS HERMITAGE! ps. when we were there they were to give her, her shots, which were forgotten until I was paying, when I realized. They ran around a minute, came back & asked that I bring her in again & they would only charge for the medicine & not the visit. RID: 19613
Click to report rating    3/18/07   5     5     5     5   This vet clinic is the primary facility I take my hedgehogs to. They have been for the past two years, and they will continue to be. The staff is extremely caring and passionate about the animals they treat, and will do the most they can. They are honest, and are not in it for just the money. If they feel a procedure is unnecessary or will not help the situation, they advise you of the fact, instead of performing it and charging you. I can not speak for any other clients, but this clinic seems more interested in helping the animal than the money -- they have never charged me full price for a visit, and routinely give discounts if the exam costs over $100. I highly recommend this vet to anyone with small exotic animals. They may not be the most experienced exotic vet, but they do their best, and they do it well. The services are moderately priced, and the staff are punctual; if you have an appointment at 10am, you will be in the exam room by 10:10am at the latest. RID: 3080
