over a 23 year period the doctors and staff at Highlands took wonderful care of our cats.

The front desk staff is great. Apart from that, I was unimpressed with the care my dog received, and won't go back there. I expect answers when I ask about whether certain vaccines are necessary for my dog to receive every year. Otherwise, I question the motives.

This is a business not animal care. Go somewhere else.

I had a horrible experience here. I understand that care can be expensive, but... We had a similar experience to another reviewer, we had a cat who had stopped eating and thought it might be a tooth. After a couple thousand dollars of blood test and tooth extraction and other things - apparently nail cutting was also necessary. Another vet told us it was clearly a cancer tumor in the jaw and we should have her put down with the pain she was in. I can not believe any vet could be so into money that they could do something like this to a cat, to a family all the time knowing the cat was in pain and would die. Horrible people. I hope they enjoy their money.

We stopped going here many years ago. We would rather drive to Newton Animal Hospital and save thousands of dollars a year and not be treated like idiots. At the time we were going to this clinic it was a guy that owned a bunch of clinics on the North Shore. Every little procedure, scrape, review, was all designed to lighten your wallet. We couldn't take it anymore. They really take advantage of their clients. Trust me. Time it around traffic but head outside of the north shore for real service and real value.

To be honest this clinic is extremely terrible. I was referred to it by the doctor at west end clinic because my cat had suspected lymphoma. Immediately they wanted to do exploratory surgery open up my 7 pound cat to see what was wrong with him. I protested and went back and told the doctor this wasn't necessary at this stage as I've gotten a second a opinion from another vet and the same could be done with an ultrasound / fine needle aspiration. I decided to go with the 1200 dollar ultra sound appointment and when i got there no doctor wanted to tell me the results. They told me the vet would contact me in 3 days to tell me the news? They didn't even want to give me a report telling me what the ultrasound has found until i demanded it. After reviewing the report it's easy to tell he has renal lymphoma it says it right in there. I guess they want you to wait a few days so you wont be so upset spending thousands of dollars? wasted money horrible vet just in it for the money

I recently was in need of a Vet visit after hours. I was able to reach the Vet, have an apt scheduled for the next day and was treated with prompt service, courteous staff and accurate medical findings. The cost of my pets visit was reasonable - I did some shopping around but I was most impressed with the information I recieved, the length of time that was spent assessing my pet, going over the detailed treatment that my pet needed and then follow up care. This is my go to Vet Hospital and I would recommend it to anyone in need of great quality service!!!

I am totally agianst negative opinion. This hospital os expensive but vets are very caring and knowledgable. My exam was over 60 minutes and vet expalined everything amd answered all questions. Treatment plan was in detail and i knew what will be my bill the next day. I am happy and this hospital is recommended.

Excellent, caring staff who have given a lot of individualized attention to our cat, whose overall health has been greatly improved through following their recommendations. Staff at this Hospital have also always been readily available for telephone conversations during the animal's treatment. We have recommended this facility to our friends, who have had similar positive experiences with the staff.First class!!

It's all about the money for this Hospital. Took my dog in for evaluation after an out-of-town vet thought she might have cancer. Cancer unconclusive, but considered discomfort as a result of damaged teeth. Was presented with a complicated quote with about thirty lines of charges, which I thought was going to treat the damage, but it turns out all they did was clean - despite the fact that she'd had her teeth cleaned not that long ago, and vet agreed that cleaning wasn't the issue. Never told me that the vet was not qualified to do the dental repair, only cleaning, and that's all I got - for over $800 spent. (over $1200, including two fat lump removals) After they tried to deflect their responsiblity for a lump which developed post surgery at an incision site, and then when I took dog in for final removal of stiched, they only removed one and totally "forgot" about the other. Horrible, horible experience. Beware.

My dog had started limping one day and continued doing so for over a week. In my opinion, it was apparent that the dewclaw was bothering him and I was hoping the vet would clarify whether it had been caught on something, and was subsequently sprained, or whether there was an infection in the nail. The vet took one look at my dog and said it was an allergic reaction (!!) and proceeded to recommend a couple hundred dollars worth of hypoallergenic food, wipes, and ointment. A couple of weeks later my dog wasn't showing any signs of improvement so we went to a new vet. They promptly said something was wrong with the dewclaw, took an x-ray, and determined the claw needed to be amputated! I cannot express how disgusted I am with this clinic. It makes me sick to think of the needless suffering my little guy was subjected to because of this neglectful doctor. Do not bring your pets to Highlands Animal Hospital. Your pet, and wallet, will thank you for it.

I took my cat to this clinic because she had started to drool and had bad breath. They said she needed major dental work and wanted a minimum of $2,000. I said I would come back in a week when I could get the $$ together. I took her to another vet who took one look at her and said she had a cancerous growth in her jaw and no amount of dental work would fix that (obviously). I had to put her to sleep. Had I allowed Highlands to do the work they wanted, I would have been out a minumim $2,000 plus would have still had to lose my cat. Plus, I never saw the same vet twice even when I would try to book specifically with a particular vet.
